Throughout the semester, the most significant learning outcome that I acquired the most knowledge of it, was to undertake a self-regulated project to address my own linguistic need by myself. I learned to focus on one specific project, that I believed that it could have been helpful for me to practice and improve my English writing. Since the start of the semester, I was always understanding well the instructions given to us for all our tasks, such as the Personal Project Design or Annotated Bibliography.
However, I was uncertain at the start of the personal project, but by making my own research, I could understand better, and work on it properly, which also gave me more confidence into myself, to see that I was able to fix my own

There have been some days that I was procrastinating on my project, which I could have avoid by perhaps re-organizing my schedule or simply try to motivate myself more for next times. Also, I should have read more casual books, as readings is a really important tool for writing improvements, but one of my main issue is that I do not like to read that much, so when I read, I always need to push myself to try to read a book that I could find interesting, but it is not always simple to give motivation to ourselves. However, by maintaining my twice a week reading routine, I began to like reading more, as I start to find what kind of specific books that I find interesting.
Overall, I am satisfied with the work I have achieved, since I have seen progress into my writing through first, more positive comments from my professors from this semester, as well as I feel much more certain and optimistic about my academic writing now, than I was 13 weeks ago, when I began the PELE course. This course gave me the chance to become more productive with my studies,
As it is the end of the semester, it is also the end of my Personal Project Portfolio. However, I took the decision to keep working on my English writing skill improvements for the next coming semester as well as for my long-term goal. I will keep a record of the assignments that I have worked this semester, to analyse them, and see where I should try to improve for next semester. Moreover, I will also begin to
This semester has impacted me and my writing abilities greatly. I feel I have improved in all aspects of writing. Throughout High school writing was never my preferred subject, but after taking this class I have developed an interest in writing and no longer look at it as a chore, but more as a method to express myself.
On 08/20/2017 at 1002 hours FTO Wheeler #4361 and I responded to St. Luke’s Hospital emergency room entrance, on 3555 Cesar Chavez St., regarding a women in a hospital gown trying to break the caller’s vehicle window with a brick. Officer Wheeler and I were in full police uniform driving a marked patrol unit when we responded.
I learned that you are not only writing for your own benefit, your writing for your classmates, teachers and peers as well. It helps you gain common knowledge that you may not have known otherwise, as well as teaching us research skills that we will need later in life due to the rise is technology use. I have learned that research is a part of life and you will need it throughout college. Writing has helped me understand things I was unable to comprehend before, and gives me a feeling of capability. As Frederick Douglas, an African American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman, once wrote, “Thus, after a long, tedious effort for years, I finally succeeded in learning how to write” (McQuade and Atwan). At the beginning of the semester, I would have never guessed that I would finish this course on a positive note; however, I finished, and it was not as difficult as I thought it would
The past two semesters were great experiences. Within this past school year my knowledge as a reader and writer has improved. It felt like it was just yesterday, when I had a lot of difficulty writing and poor reading strategies. Now, as I said before, I am an improved writer and reader. The assignments and class activities over the two semesters were great benefits to me, and helped me make progress towards the first year learning goals.
The beginning of my junior year seems like it was such a long time ago. This may be because of how much I have grown since the start of the year. When I began AP English, my writing skills needed improvement. For instance, I often used incorrect grammar and struggled with staying on topic. In just one semester, my writing has improved immensely. The more than I write, the more I learn about how to craft a good paper. I have worked on improving my grammar, using rhetoric, addressing my subject, and many more elements of writing. In addition to improving my writing, I have gained many skills to become a better student. I have learned about effective study techniques and time-management skills that allow me to be the most successful. Since I always try my best, I know that over time I will continue to grow in my studies. This year I have gained countless skills that will help me succeed in English in the future.
I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and other skills during my semester in “Writing as an inquiry”. Not only were my writing skills improved, my understanding of rhetoric increased as well. This was done through teacher instruction, class participation, and assignments. Up to this point, I completed four projects in the semester. Each project being very different and improving my writing, rhetoric, communication skills, and testing my creativity.
During this unit, my academic literacy has advanced greatly. After analysis from writers diet and paper rater. I have evaluated the results & comments and taken them into consideration as to work on my weaknesses. Throughout The semester I have acted on refining my writing via the use of online tasks, weekly readings, smart- thinking tool and peer guidance.
After reviewing the syllabus, I am excited to gain knowledge in how to produce well-crafted resumes, reports, emails, and letters for future applications in real life scenarios. Analyzing variety of professional rhetorical situations and being able to produce a highly developed response also is a skill I’m am looking forward to acquire. Refining my abilities at every stage that are involved when constructing any competent form of professional writing. Specifically, I hope to improve in drafting and revising as I feel those are my weakest areas when it comes to writing.
While working on something it is hard to notice the progress that you have made. During all this semester I kept asking myself one and the same question: how is my writing improving? Now, after a year of persistent work and perfection of my writing skills, I can answer it. This course was really useful and it has helped me to improve not only my writing, but also my searching skills and the level of my language proficiency in general. Nevertheless, there are still some weak points waiting to be improved.
In this semester my achievement of improving my writing skills has increased significantly. My sentence lengths vary in a positive manner along with my word choice improving, becoming more complex and of writing expectation. My main struggle this semester would be the peer editing. Although I have improved significantly I still find it difficult to edit others papers. Further more than the common spelling and grammatical errors. I believe my essays have improved drastically from the beginning of the semester towards the end.
In conclusion, I had a great time in this class. I have developed in my writing skills and the confidence I have in my writing abilities; this semester has taught me some key life skills that go past a simple English but skills that will be applied.
As the semester started, I had set my mind that I was destined to achieve a lot. During the start of the semester, I had several difficulties writing English assignments especially in terms of grammar. During the first week of the semester, I sat down, organized my thoughts and comprehended that throughout the semester, I had to achieve all that I had planned for. As a student of English, I had planned that throughout the semester, I had to improve my skills as a scholar, writer and critical thinker. Now that the semester has ended, I can reflect all the semester activities to depict how my writing skills and critical thinking skills have drastically improved. This paper presents a reflection paper of how this
This last semester, Fall, has been really beneficial to me. During this semester, I worked in many projects including four essays, grammar exercises, and other group activities. Although in the beginning of the semester I had some problems drafting and mainly revising my essays, now I feel more prepared to deal with all of these.
The writing I did this semester for Engl 110c has meant alot to me because I was able to pick a topic that has such a huge impact in my life. I was able to do the topic about Navy Wives, which has a huge impact on me. I recently became a navy wife a year ago and my life has changed drastically. I was able to share everything I wanted to about the life of a military wife through my writings, as well as share to my classmates about my topic. I really enjoyed creating my ePortfolio because I could come out of my shell and be me. I made a ePortfolio website that would be for military wives to read. I believe this website would be perfect for any military wife reading it. I was able to give tips and information on what it’s like to be a military wife, how to prepare for deployments and how to stay strong being a military wife.
At the beginning of this class I was nervous on how this semester will go and whether or not I will succeed to my fullest potential in English. With that in my mind I still was trying my best to work at getting better, despite how much it made me cringe at the thought of it. My perspective of writing began to change as time went on, the assignments were based on interesting topics which made it a bit bearable for me. I’ve learned that you have to make the steps to get to the perfect paper. A paper requires you to brainstorm, make an outline, and writing your rough draft to get that feedback you need before finishing up that final draft. During this class I have also learned where to put my thesis and that I don’t need to have that three point subtopics of what you should talk about. The writing length started getting longer and I was a bit skeptical on how I can get to the word count or what will I talk about within my papers, but I have
