I first found my passion for early childhood education soon after my son was born.
Watching a child develop and grow, explore their surroundings and strive to learn new skills, is an incredible experience. I feel there is nothing more rewarding than observing a child master skills, knowing you have given them the assistance and space to achieve them.
I want to be an early childhood teacher to share more of these experiences, nurture and enable the children I teach to meet their full potential.
Since finding my desire to teach, my son and I have joined our local playcentre where in my spare time, I am working through the education courses they have to offer. I have also acquired a voluntary office position within the committee.

I believe that as an early childhood educator my goal will be to promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child. I also believe that play should be the base of learning since children learn best by doing. I believe that a balance between teacher-directed and child-initiated activities is essential balance can be developed by using the developmentally appropriate practice approach, which means that activities should be “appropriate for each child and relevant to the child’s ability, needs and interests, also including the child’s family and being respectful to the child’s culture.

I am glad that we will be pursuing this journey together. I am pursuing an Ed. D in Early Childhood Education. I have always had a passion for working with young children. My focus will primarily be on Kindergarten and first grade. Although Common Core State Standards are not required Pre-K but teachers are required to make sure that preschoolers are prepared to be successful in Kindergarten. Pre-K students are not incapable and, although they are very young, they are able to engage in meaningful learning experiences. It is important to address the youngest learners in public schools and early childhood centers. The better prepared our young learners are, the better their chances of success in school and
In elementary school, I was a shy girl, but my parents would never believe that statement from any teacher. As a child, I ran around, danced on an imaginary stage, and read vigorously. Nevertheless, the quiet girl in their class perplexed teachers, but one teacher pushed me out of my shell and onto a stage. In that moment, the perception of me being a quiet student disappeared, and the chance to grow as a better person arose.

My chosen field is early child education, and I will use what I learn in anthropology often. Each household across America has its own culture. When a student’s family’s thought process is not like my own I will need to think of it objectively. I will often find differences in thinking due to family traditions, religious affiliation, and their economic situation and other situations. I will need to look at this family objectively without making a judgement on them. I will also may have to change teaching methods and what is important to my current children in my class as the world evolves over the years. I will spend my years teaching, asking questions about what my current students need and how I can better understand and help them to achieve

I want to become someone who teaches, an educator, a role model, a teacher. I want to help children in their early childhood education. I want to become a teacher because teachers play a very big role in children’s lives. Not only do they serve as educators, but for many kids, the classroom is where they feel the safest. They feel welcomed and at home. For these certain kids it is their one place of stability where they are always guaranteed to be loved and get fed and to have fun. I enjoy watching kids grow and helping them develop their learning skills. Every kid needs a good education and I want to be the one giving them that good education. I want to make a difference in their lives and prepare them for the road ahead.
