The profession that I am interested in is an Athletic Trainer. I have chosen this career because it is something that I have recently become passionate about within the last two years. I have never been the kind of person to struggle with weight, however after having my 3rd and last child, weight has become an issue. I mention my personal struggle to give insight on why I have chosen an Athletic Trainer. This profession’s main goal is physical fitness. As a trainer you become responsible for another person’s physical active lifestyle. Assisting clients from injury to recovery, evaluating their bodies and advising the individual what is best. Athletic Trainers has many responsibilities. AT’s are professionals in the health care world who mainly caters to athletes. An AT however isn’t limited to just athletes. They work with just about anyone. Ages ranging from a child to an adult. Different skill and jobs, people such as soldiers, high school athletes, and professional athletes.
Becoming an AT isn’t an easy process. A bachelor’s degree would be the minimum requirement. A master’s degree is very common as well. These two degrees need to be from an accredited college or university. These degrees will include not only classroom settings but clinical are also required. Most classes are focused on health science. Courses would include nutrition, biology, anatomy and many others. Another requirement is to graduate from an athletic training program and pass the board of
athletes in an effort to prevent injuries. They work in amateur and professional sports. Once injuries occur, the athletic trainer is required to evaluate the problem and get the athlete the proper medical treatment. He or she also makes sure that athletes are physically ready and able to play after an injury. Athletic trainers set up physical conditioning programs for athletes, work with equipment managers to make sure that playing and training areas are in working order, and also work with physicians in developing and implementing a rehabilitation program for injured players. Athletic trainers work in offices, treatment
Many people are more active today than they were many years ago. Injury prevention and diagnosis plays a big role in today’s society. Preventing an injury is important for many athletes all over the world, and for people that are physically active. Preventing injuries can benefit an athlete in the long run. Athletic trainers help athletes and physically active people stay healthy for what they do on a daily basis.
Ever since I was a child, I enjoyed watching and doing athletic activities. I played softball throughout middle school but stopped once I got to high school. I realized that even though I didn’t want to play as much anymore, I still wanted to be involved with athletics. I began managing my high schools girls and eventually boys’ basketball team. By doing so led me to the career I want to partake in for the rest of my life. I want to become an Athletic Trainer. What motivate me to become an Athletic Trainer are the different aspects of the job. I also have a lot of friends and family members who are athletes and I love the different personalities that come with the athletes. I am also motivated to this career, because I want to be able to prevent athletes’ injuries, assist, and aid the athletes’ to enhance their performance so that they can continue to do what they love and to overall get stronger.
I had a hard time finding a career. All the careers I came across did not interest me at all. Until a friend came up with the idea of the career of athletic training. That is when I started my research and my interest grew greater.
I have wanted to be/ do something in the sports medicine field since I was in the seventh grade. So any chance I get I look up any information that will come up and read everything possible to give more me information about becoming an athletic trainer. This is something that has been very important to me for several years and I’m never letting go of this no matter what it takes to get there. I enjoy sports a lot and like learning how to help people get to learn more about the proper use of equipment, and I like teaching people too. That is one requirement that it takes to be an athletic trainer. I am interested in the occupation because it fits perfect in what I am looking for in a career. I feel like with me being involved in the sports the way that I am now it would be perfect and I have plans to still wanting to be as athletic when I am older too. Being an athletic trainer takes being fit/ in shape for sure!
I have chosen to study athletic training because it allows me to still participate and be involved in sports as well as be able to help athletes recover from injuries while gaining valuable clinical experience for physical therapy. Growing up I have always had a love for sports but I have not been graced with the abilities to become a professional athlete. With my love for sports as a youth I watched a lot on television with my father and I would see athletes get injured and medical personnel rush out to their aid. When I found out they were athletic trainers and physical therapists, I knew that is what I wanted to do when I grew up. All throughout high school I was involved in sports and unfortunately had an injury or two. Although our school did not have an athletic trainer, I went to many different specialists and
In high school I have learned the true meaning of being selfless and what the gift of giving is. I have spent much of my high school career volunteering at school and in the community. Many students spend their years of high school partying and hanging out with their friends, but I have dedicated myself to staying after school every day to volunteer and help the Athletic Trainer at the High School, as well as being a part of our schools community service group, Youth Core, as an officer.
While a sophomore in high school, I had the opportunity to take a sports medicine elective class. At first, I was not too sure about it, but I thought I would give it a try and I ended up loving every second of the class, especially the hands-on experience. After taking both levels of the course, I learned a great deal about taping, special tests, the different treatment modalities, all the joints of the body and common injuries for each, as well as the different career options under the sports medicine umbrella. Since I enjoyed the course, I signed up for my school’s Athletic Training club where I was a student trainer for the wrestling and soccer teams. I worked alongside the school’s head athletic trainer to help tape, stretch, and provide first aid for the athletes both on and off the field. We also worked to provide and implement rehabilitation plans to help the athletes return to play after an injury. From this experience, I learned that I enjoy working with athletes and I wanted to pursue Athletic Training in college. After researching the different colleges in Georgia that offered
Chris Linde stated “My job as an athletic trainer is to prevent injuries as such as possible. I also help with strengthening and conditioning, guidance in nutrition and sleeping, and I also make sure the playing area is safe”. When he was young he always enjoyed my Athletic Trainer. After being pushed to his limits and fighting through pain there was always someone to care for his aches, and pains. She give him opinions on what to do when he was alone to prevent fatigue and serious injuries that would prevent him from playing to my fullest potentional or limit him from acheiving his goals. She told him she always enjoyed the satisfaction and enjoyment in the kids eyes when they would achieve in their sport and thank her for helping them get
Although, this part of my life is over, there will always be lessons never to be forgotten. Now, I am 27 year old college student at Guilford Technical Community College with a full time job with one of the most successful companies in the state. My job is both challenging and rewarding, but it is not the dream I had before. Health and wellness has always been important to me. I am an avid natural bodybuilder and soon to be licensed personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Health has been a core theme in my life and will never be replaced. In some respect the last 10 years has led me to this career path. The persistence of a friend to get me to join the Gym when I felt all was lost developed a love that has never broken; my drive to make a difference in people’s lives when they asked me for my help in achieving their weight loss goal; and finally, a random suggestion of a client and friend to look into physical therapy as a career when deciding on a path after my
A Career in Athletic Training and a Careers in Recreational Therapy are very different from each other. Athletic trainers are highly qualified; they have multiskilled health care experts who work as a member of a collaborative in the professional medical team. However, they work together with doctors and other healthcare specialists to prevent injury, illness, wellness protection and clinical evaluation. For example, if you become an athletic trainer, the job possibilities are excellent. But, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, this field is projected to grow 21% between 2014 and 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. In fact, athletic training is identified by the American Medical Association, Health Resources
Throughout my experience, I have accumulated more than 3 years, 800 hours, of hands-on athletic training practicum and 2 years as a Personal Trainer. With my recent Master’s Degree in Health Science from the University of the Incarnate Word, I am ready to begin a long and successful career with Baylor Scott and White in the Athletic Training department. My resume shows through my professional career I have been recognized and rewarded for my successes
My first year of high school, I had experience with injured football players during my physical education class. We had a certified trainer who would come in and check them out. She was excellent and all of the football players and staff loved her. I was so interested in her work and later thought about making it my career goal. As time passed, I transferred schools. At my new school, there was an opportunity with two other girls to join the football team. One of my friends that I already knew before I changed schools. He introduced me to the girls and the helped me get involved. The job was to assist the athletic trainer and also help the football coach with any laundry, equipment, etc.
It all started when they took me away from my home in Africa. I was at my high school graduation with a 4.0 GPA. I was extremely proud of myself when suddenly a helicopter arrived on campus. I thought it was maybe for one of the rich kids getting picked up but surprise! It was for me. A woman stepped out and grabbed me by the arm. I was confused and scared and I wish I had my parents there to help me. But I had no one. Once we got in the helicopter, she greeted herself.
The group I chose to study is personal trainers. I chose them because once I get out of the military I plan to own a Gym and become a professional personal trainer.
