One other reason I believe I’m perfect for FIT is due to my certainty. I am certain that graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from FIT is what I want. For the last three years, I tried to concentrate on other fields of studies at my current university (to please my parents’ wishes) but, nothing interested me. I had no desire for the things I was learning and, I became unmotivated to do great in a school I felt lost in. After switching my major twice, I found that nothing other than fashion kept me happy. I realized that I was wasting time attending my current university especially, when I knew FIT was the one school I wanted to attend. Because of this experience in college, I was positive that the major I needed to study was
I have made a contribution to the AVID program by spreading all the wonderful things AVID teaches you to my friends and relatives also how it can change your life positively. I have spoken with many friends as to why they should be considering the AVID program in high school in order for them to gain knowledge and learn important college factors so that when they move on they won’t have a difficult time in college. This contribution may not seem as much but I have also tried my hardest to earn a good grade for all the years that I have been taken AVID not only for a grade in the class but for others to see what I have learned throughout all the years that I have been in AVID program and what it can do to improve high school students who want to attend college and become successful trying to reach their goals and dreams.
The “Advertising, Marketing, and Communications” field is more than just a major. It is dealing with people, using your mind, being creative, and being willing to step into the unknown. This career requires people who are able to take charge and handle tasks in the best manner possible, talents I believe I possess. To study this major at FIT, one must love fashion and be passionate about it. Fashion does not just involve clothing, but it can tell a story and can convey different emotions. It takes a special type of person to be able to create, advertise and market fashion. Being able effectively communicate with individuals is also a very important skill that is
For my CESL project, I intend to be an instructor for the NJMS Mini-Med Program. This program holds personal significance to me as I too was a student in this program when I was a sophomore in high school. This program was my first exposure to medicine and the insights I gained, not only from the lecturers, but also from medical students, has shaped my passion medicine. Therefore, I want to give back to the program that has had such a significant impact on my life. Furthermore, before coming to NJMS, one of the most rewarding experiences of my life was teaching chemistry for a program called ODASIS at Rutgers- New Brunswick where I was able to provide resources and guidance to students from minority and underserved populations. Consequently, I want to use my experiences and affinity for teaching to introduce young students to the various topics in medicine.

My goal of becoming one of the nation’s top club managers has evolved from my first job when I was 11 years old, picking up golf balls and cleaning golf cars at my local golf course to currently holding the position of PGA Golf Professional at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. The golf professionals who I have worked for have been influential in many of my large life decisions. When it came to choosing a university and major my golf professional recommended I investigate at a major in Professional Golf Management. With my passion for golf and my six years of experience working at golf courses the PGA Golf Management major at Florida State University (FSU) was a great fit for me.
I intentionally challenge myself. Working on assignments and studying for exams does not strengthen my flexibility. To prepare for college I keep myself busy. I intend to be active in both my institution and community. Staying active in school also helps my school gain recognition both athletically and academically. I have three AP courses, two college courses, participate in varsity basketball, lead the chess club as vice president, and participate in drama. The addition of Students Run LA just makes things even more complicated. To become a professional, I will have to go through double and triple booking activities in one day. With all these responsibilities I am preparing myself to be a professional.
We stopped at the closest Snap Fitness, hoping that no one would be there, but we had no such luck. We walked in barefoot, none of us daring to put our heels back on from the night before, walking through the people working to the back of the gym, hoping, once more, for showers. Instead we found a single sink. Making do we washed the makeup off of our faces as best we could, and repeated our barefoot walk through the gym. Getting back into the car, food became the next priority. There was a McDonald’s across the street and we pooled our money to get each of us breakfast sandwiches and parked in the Walmart parking lot and ate. We began cleaning up the car, clothes and shoes and jewelry and blankets back in bags. Then, once more, we sat. It
When deciding on what major I wanted to choose, I knew Exercise Science was the best fit for me. Exercise Science is the best fit for me because it is a combination of the two things that I love doing,
The Stritch school of medicine is an institution that allows the intersection of research, compassionate care to all members of the community and academic excellence while keeping the patient first. For this reason, I am certain that being a part of this program will challenge me to widen my horizons and increase my exposure to different perspectives. Furthermore, the emphasis on serving others, especially those from the underserved population aligns with my future aspirations as a physician. The ASPIRE program has invaluable resources for me to broaden my depth of knowledge about health care disparities, team dynamics in medicine, and the significance of healthcare professionals that are willing to implement change. The combination of academic
Fit Body and Soul are initiatives for lifestyle change show promise in helping to promote healthy behaviors in African American communities. Faith community programs can influence health care practices and health care planning especially in high risk minority populations. Fit Body and Soul takes the proven diabetes prevention program lifestyle intervention program, and uses the church-community experiences of the "Body and Soul" study as a faith-based effort. Fit Body and Souls keeps in mind the church mission and goal of being spiritually healthy and has adopted bible scripture to develop a 12-session intervention. The intervention
Allison Bergkoetter, nicknamed Bulldog, is a perfectionist. Throughout our friendship, Allison has always had to do everything a particular way. I mean everything. For example, pretty much every holiday or special occasion, she attempts a craft. The particular time I am talking about is Christmas 2014. Her grand idea was to paint everyone an exact picture of their favorite Disney character on a canvas. Completing Jayde’s Ariel, Emily’s Minnie Mouse, and starting my Peter Pan, she never finished all of them. In theory, she could not create the pictures exact enough and kept erasing the lines in an attempt to make them perfect. By the time she could have finished them, it would have been about 3 months after Christmas.
It was late December 1963 at Montgomery manor. Thunder is booming in the distance. Philip Montgomery is lounging in his blue rocking chair by the fire. The clock strikes 12, a light cool breeze extinguishes the fire Philip Montgomery hears his door slam shut. He panics, yelling for help Fredrick dashes down and finds Philip unconscious with a large bump on the side of his head with a slight cut on his left wrist. “Oh gosh! Philip! Philip wake up. Oh gosh, what am I to do?” Frederick frantically searched for someone to help him. He found a maid. He explained what had happened while dragging her down the hall towards the room. “Did you call the police? What do you want me to do?” The maid stuttered. They heard the wailing of the sirens in the
I believe that I would make a good SELF Fellow because I have learned a lot about leadership through Boy Scouts and the process to becoming an Eagle. Much of Boy Scouts teaches boys how to become effective leaders. Boy Scouts additionally educated me about self sufficiency. The Eagle Project, the final requirement to become an Eagle Scout, is unlike anything a high schooler has done. In every other situation, students are encouraged to seek help from their parents. The Eagle Project is different. The scout plans it, the scout sets it up, the scout leads it, the scout does it. This forces self sufficiency. Other aspects promote self sufficiency as well, for example, one tenet of my Boy Scout troop is being boy lead. The adults try to stay out
