1) Long Term Mental Health Goal: To take at least 6 hours per week to decompress from the week’s stress. These six hours will be completely unstructured free time in which I will not engage in work, school work or any kind of stressful activity.
Why is this a necessary and important goal for my healthy lifestyle?
I feel as though this goal is particularly important for me because I have recently come to the realization that ‘having enough time to do it’ is not a valid excuse for working myself into exhaustion. Over this past school year, I’ve been splitting my time between both my academic and gifted courses, the Woburn basketball, track and soccer teams and my two part-time jobs and the combination of all these activities has made my Grade
From my goals I have set I have learn to do my assignments all on time, I set my self a target which was during holiday time I will have one week of fun and the other week of doing assignment and it has heled me.
I have chosen to enter the field of Mental Health Counseling at this particular time in my life because I would like to learn the skills needed to help people with their life and mental health issues. While attending the University of Saint Joseph during my undergraduate years I took various courses that have led me to making my decision. The courses I took focused on business, biology, social work, and psychology. After graduation I decided to take a year off and gain work experience in customer service and health care. I wanted to experience working with the people in my community. I was hired as a pharmacy technician at a Walgreens in Vernon. Working as a pharmacy technician has been a very rewarding experience for me and I learned a lot about people and their unique needs. I also learned about patient care and how to be pacient and understanding under stressful situations.
My passion and determination to undertake study within the mental health sector dwells from the insight I have been privileged to gain in my current role as a link care coordinator, working with people who suffer from a range of ailments within the mental health spectrum; from learning disabilities, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, OCD, Autism to name but a few.
In my current profession, as a Targeted Case Manager for the Mental Health Center, I work with a number of human services programs. Such as, Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, SSDI, TANF, WIC, HRDC, LIEAP, Housing Authority, OPA, Family Service, Salvation Army, Harvest Church and Chase Hawks. I am responsible for assisting, advocating and linking my clients to resources that enhance and stabilize their lifestyle. I assist my clients with paperwork, advocating with community agencies, applying for resources, maintaining their current benefits, and assisting in obtaining Social Security. Whether, that be the initial application, subsequent paperwork, attending the clients hearing, and/or linking them with a lawyer to assist in the appeals process.
My specific career ideas are still a little vague, but, I do know mental health is something that I am going to pursue in one way or another. Mental health has always intrigued me a little because I had an Uncle with schizophrenia, I never met him and my Mom’s family doesn’t really talk about him a whole lot, but I still think about him a lot. I got to see what happened with his family after, but I can’t see how they were before, and I will always wonder about how he might have influenced my life. My interest in mental health became more directed when I took my first psychology class, the introductory psychology class at Montgomery college in the fall of 2014. I really liked it, partially thanks to the teacher I had, but mostly because it gave me a better understanding of what mental health is. The next psychology class I took was on personalities and it confirmed that psychology and mental health are something I truly am passionate about.
Goal: My goal last week was to do all my homework at least 24-hours ahead of time.
“Wow! You have overcome so much in your life!,” “I can’t even believe they are your parents, you’ve done so well for yourself!” These are just a few of the comments I have received over the past few years. As if my father’s battle with Bipolar Disorder, drug addiction and PTSD and my mother’s drug addiction and major depression somehow defines who I am. Over the past three years, I accomplished things which no one expected of me.
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” As an educated young woman, I find great wisdom in these words. The field of psychology intrigues me solely because of how enlightening it is. The field of study educates individuals on how to aid others. As a future mental health therapist, my highest goal is to not only educate, but also to provide psychological care for those who are in need. In this endeavor, I trust that I will be doing my part to change the world.
I am writing to express my interest in the Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Walden University. I have completed my application with all of the necessary information included.
I have always known that I wanted to help people and this the reason I choose Mental Health Counseling as my major. After the classes I have taken at Long Island University (LIU), I have come to the realization that my passion lies in working with families. This is the reason I would like to change my major to Marriage and Family Therapy.
A big goal I have for 2017 is to get A's and B´s in all my classes. I want to accomplish that because I want to feel good about it, I want to earn honor roll, I want to make my parents happy again about my school work again. I remember when i was in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade those were the years where my grades were the best in all i got honor roll like 6 times. How am I going to get the grades i want? Well I´m going to start trying harder, I'm going to start studying every night for at least 10 minutes, I´m going to not miss any homework I have to do, I´m going to ask if I could stay after for more help, I´m going to go home and put everything aside for at least 30 minutes and focus on all my school work get my brother to help me on anything I need to get help on.
As one well knows, it is easy to make goals, but it takes a greater determination and effort to reach them.
To start off, in this last quarter of the school year, I want to accomplish the three goals I want to accomplish for the final quarter. My first goal I want to accomplish is getting A’s and A+’s in Math, Science, and Commarts class. Also I want to accomplish this goal because I struggle when it comes to handing it homework to get the grades I am hoping for the final quarter. Although when it is time for her too put my grades in the grade book it is a C, D, of F. I will have to accomplish doing my homework with my mom and in team study with Mr.Morgan so I get A’s and A+'s for my grades. To add on, my second goal I want to accomplish is turning in my homework right away not at the last minute. I want to accomplish this goal because, I struggle
One of the best tactics I have been using this semester has been SMART goals to manage my time and energy. By spacing my goals out in dedicated manner makes planning my achievements so much easier! To start off by listing my goal as specific as possible I am able to think through all of the small details that need to be thought out and planned for rather than facing head on and wasting time and energy. Then finding and labeling a measurable anchor to judge my progress with has been one of the most helpful steps of this process. Without measuring my progress I would not know how far I have to go to complete my goal or how far I have come. The third step has been helpful but more as a reality check. By setting my goals up by Attainable needs
I may have a job opportunity as a Mental Health Worker soon in TN. I have 70 undergraduate credits in the US, and about to finish a BA in Psychology in the US. I am also a neutralized US citizen. So, if I get the job in TN, will the MS consider me as a TN resident?
