STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Engineering is the life-line of this fast developing world, and I have always dreamt to be a part of it. Over the years, this dream has developed into a passion. Fuelled by the rapid strides made in this field, I sincerely hope to contribute significantly to the efforts that are under way to meet the ever-increasing demands of mankind. My fascination for Science led me to take up the science stream in my higher education. Also, participation in several science projects and expos during my school days made me seek clarity in the way I perceived concepts of basic sciences. This abiding interest helped me to score first class with distinction in my Board exams (10th & 12th).When the time came to choose an undergraduate program, one of the most significant decisions in life as it will lead to one’s career, an astute decision was made, based on factors ranging from inspiration, untapped interests and inherent skills to scope and satisfaction. I singled out mechanical engineering stream as it is the foundation to various other disciplines and specializing in any other field later on would be more beneficial. This led me to take up Mechanical engineering at one of the top colleges in India. The well-balanced curriculum at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) Anna University has provided me with a comprehensive exposure to the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering.
At SVCE, I was first familiarised with the Basic Sciences and Mathematics which
In today's society, there is a greater need for engineers than in previous decades. In an age of advanced technology, engineers are vital to the technological revolution that will fuel human development. It is an important movement that I want to be a part of.
Ever since the 3rd grade, I excelled in science and math-related courses. As I grew older I recognized my passion and knew that when I got older, I wanted to use this passion in a career in engineering. To further this passion, I joined a premiere science program called Ecotek Lab. This program was designed for elite students to work on perfecting their craft by carrying out United Nations based science projects. Since joining Ecotek, I have been opened to many opportunities tying back to my career interest in mechanical engineering.
Up until the eighth grade, I wasn’t certain what I planned to do after high school, I had at least four different plausible career choices, and none of them were exactly conceivable. It wasn't until I took a Gateway To Technology class, that I discovered the Engineering field. It was the first year the school district had introduced the program, and it sounded intriguing. Our instructor gave us a research assignment; to explore different engineering fields and how they help the community.
The main focus of this paper is to articulate how I will proceed in my endeavor to become a world class engineering student and graduate with a degree in engineering.
Exploration and analysis have been the essence of my life, guiding me through the most mystifying predicaments. In this ever changing world of engineering & technology where each new day sees a spate of new concepts and applications and each passing day makes them obsolete, I always wanted to attain the highest level of excellence in education and transcend new horizons in the chosen field.
Computers are a major part of our lives in society today. They are used to do almost everything from typing essays to reading books to watching movies these days. Technology makes our lives so much easier by providing us a way to communicate with people anywhere in the world, allowing us to send emails faster than ever before, watch movies online and to store documents on storage media such as hard drives and flash drives. But many people do not know what goes on behind the scene to manufacture this useful technology. My goal is to go behind the scenes and understand how this process works. Due to this reason, I want to become a computer engineer to make computers better and faster for future generations.
In this dynamic world of automotive technology, where every other day sees a spate of new concepts and innovation emerging, I want to stay on fast track. It is my strong perception that a Basic undergraduate education is inadequate for securing in-depth knowledge of a particular field. Master’s degree at your university would not only provide me subject matter proficiency but also thorough research oriented study would help me lay substance for gratification of my dream of reaching the pinnacle in Automotive Engineering.
My desire to be an integral part of this process of betterment motivated me to choose engineering as my career. A natural aptitude for mathematics, good analytical ability, tenacity and high academic credentials helped me secure admission for undergraduate studies at Sreenivasa Institute of Technology and Management Studies affiliated to JNTU University, one of the most prestigious universities in India. My diligent efforts led me to realize my dream of being an Electronics and Communication Engineer.
I have been very inquisitive and observant since my childhood. My family is closely related to machines as my paternal uncle owns a tool manufacturing factory. Right from my childhood, I have been intrigued by machines that I saw there. Good relations with my uncle and other people have paved my way towards choosing a career that is very closely related to machines. After passing my senior secondary school among top three students, I studied Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of technology, Kurukshetra after securing the 8719th rank in All India Engineering entrance examination among 1.2 million students in the year 2012. The 4 years of my undergrads gave me a plethora of academic and industrial opportunities which bolstered my theoretical understanding.
“The first and simplest emotion we discover in the human mind is curiosity”. And this aptly applies to my childhood too. It made me question every other thing I come in contact with. In addition, this inquisitiveness helped me garner in-depth knowledge about subjects in school. I was more inclined towards practical or hands-on experience rather than mere classroom learning. My interest in logically oriented subjects like maths, statistics and science propelled me to take up science as a major in college. I was of the belief that if you want to excel in a particular field, you need have to practical experience for better understanding of the pros and cons of that filed. This attitude not only contributed to my high grades in schooling and college, but also helped me gain a stronghold over the concepts of applied sciences.
Engineering is a very important specialization and it can be founded in every organization, I am interested in studying engineering especially mechanical engineering which is the subject of understanding the principle of engineering such as forces and how do they effect on substances, the functionality of systems and how they work, manufacturing of tools, devices, machines and their parts with different sizes, shapes and different functions, and operation of mechanical systems.
The art of applying scientific principles. The art that raised a skyscraper and created a spaceship. The field of dreaming, thinking and creating. The step that I have been trained for since I was young. The field of innovation and creativity. I see engineering as an opportunity that will allow to pursue scientific principle and applied designs.
I completed my schooling creditably with an aggregate of 80% and my major subjects were Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. Though I did my high school in rural area, I was an ardent and shrewd explorer of new technologies and mechanisms. This enthusiasm motivated me to go on special science exhibition camps to prudently utilize my skills in a wise manner. My project on “wind turbines”, earned me appreciations in the academic year in my high school tenure. This played a vital role in my academic career to choose Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Apollo Engineering College affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
Inheriting the initial interest from my father who is an engineer, I am determined to become an engineer myself since little. Loving science, I chose to major in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) for my undergraduate education in Tongji University without hesitation. Taking a broad range of elements as raw materials, MSE incorporates theoretical research into applications, and is extensively applied in various fields, such as automotive, civil engineering, etc. I was luckily trained strictly in Tongji University within a basic multidimensional framework involving theoretic teaching and scientific research.
During my under graduate course, my firm grasp of basic sciences such as physics, mathematics, chemistry and mechanics etc. facilitated me immensely to appreciate fundamentals of variety of subjects covered in the curriculum. I gained knowledge in subjects like Fluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Production Techniques and Machine Design. I focused more on learning about Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, and Design for
