Growing up in a society and environment that always focused on the weaknesses one had and the things one lacked, I never really did take time to think about my strengths. It did not seem to matter. The priority was to improve weaknesses and not strengths. However, in order to decide a major and essentially, a potential career choice, I had to, for once, consider my strengths and what I excelled at rather than lacked at. After taking time to think and consider the past memories and scenarios in which my strengths that consisted of harmony, responsibility, relator, individualization, and restorative might have appeared, I realized that these strengths have been used before. I know that I will definitely use these strengths and can improve them …show more content…
It’s through these opportunities that I know I can definitely learn how to develop my strengths more and use them. Through thinking and analyzing past experiences, I realized that my strengths often involved working with small groups of people and being the person who offered solutions in order to reach a middle ground. In order to further develop these strengths, I know I’ll join programs that’ll involve bigger groups so that I can gain experience in handling more people though I’ll also join clubs and services that will have small groups to improve the skills I have. A recent example would be a program I recently joined called Accelerate Tutoring, a non-profit organization, that offers free tutoring for kids in need at a church nearby. Accelerate Tutoring would definitely help me utilize my strengths of individualization in which I would fit my teaching methods to the type of learner the kid would be whether visual, kinetic, or auditory, restorative in that I’d help solve the problems the kids have, and responsibility in that I would stick with my task to the end. I also plan to get involved in community services and similar opportunities such as volunteering at the Dream Center that reaches out to a larger community. I also plan to join small clubs such as the Heart For China club, Adventure club, and others to which I’ll …show more content…
Many of the questions in my decision of choosing a major would probably revolve around whether or not I find this subject interesting and will I be able to study this subject for four years without getting bored. Will this major work well my strengths? How will it improve my strengths and how can I use strengths in this major? My strengths would definitely push me to be responsible with my decisions and timing in choosing a major, but also help me to find a major that fits my personality and strengths that would seek common ground, solve problems, develop relationships, observe different people, and
For instance the strength of being restorative has shown me that I need to work on not trying to control every situation and solve every problem someone has. I need to let them figure out how to solve their problems and just be a sounding board for them when they need it. Being a mom it is hard to not just jump in every time my boys face a difficult situation and just solve it for them. They are young men now and I realize that I need to take a back seat and let them figure out where their life’s road will take them and to be there to listen and help as they ask me. Hard, yes, but a necessity. By doing the assessment and finding out what my top three strengths are I can use them to in the best way possible to achieve the goals I have for my life both personally and professionally. I realize that being deliberative, my belief system and being restorative are my strengths and not weaknesses and I can now capitalize on those strengths at work and
Strength is that part of your intellect or nervous system that is more effective and productive than other parts. Throughout your experience of life, your actions or reactions drive different thoughts, behavior and emotion in your brain. The requests that are processed more efficiently and rapidly are known as your strengths. Nowadays, strengths-based approaches to work and life are gaining a lot of popularity and often they are used to improve leadership and create more productive and efficient work teams.
Upon completion of the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five greatest strengths were Achiever, Discipline, Responsibility, Relator, and Competition. However, I was skeptical about the initial results until I read what each strength entails. I found most of the information given to be accurate. According to the description of those strengths, I discovered that I use them daily without realizing it.
When I took my strengths test I was not necessarily shocked with what I received, more with what I did not receive. I thought for sure that I would have received positivity because people are always telling me how positive I am. Through learning about my strengths I have come to realize that all five of my strengths together may be the cause of my positive attitude, and all five of my strengths working together constantly are what people see. My strengths are restorative, communication, input, strategic, and achiever.
In the past couple of weeks I found a common theme about my personality and my strengths through Strengthsfinder, MBTI, and the FOCUS 2 assessments. I have come into touch with my strengths of adaptability, competition, empathy, curiosity, communication, and consistency. On all three assessments I have learned that I am an excellent communicator. For example, on the FOCUS 2 assessment I scored a high of twenty five for the strength of being social and had a score of zero for conventional on the bottom of my chart. As for the personality assessment, I learned I was a campaigner. This is somebody who enjoys emotional connections with other people and somebody who thrives off curiosity and energy. Lastly, the Strengthsfinder assessment allowed me to come in touch with
A reason that this country works well is that everyone has diverse abilities which can contribute to everyday life. Some people let those abilities shine at work, in their personal life or both. As people have their strengths, they also have their weaknesses. There is a problem to improve those weaknesses when the weakness is not identified. Once the weak point is identified it needs to be resolved. A plan of action for improvement helps in solving the situation. In this paper, I will identify abilities and skills that I possess that contribute positively in my work environment, in my personal life, and in my learning team. I will also identify personal areas that need improvement, and outline a plan of
I have a variety of strengths which include being a hard worker, being determined, showing commitment, being a quick thinker and being adaptable to any situation. These strengths constantly push me towards success. Hard work and determination allow me to expand my boundaries and attain my goals. In the past, I have used these strengths to complete the toughest course I took in high school with an average of 90%. Moreover, my high levels of commitment to any activity that I participate in is also an asset. In fact, I have been privileged to mentor younger children at my temple, dedicating 2 hours to them every Sunday. When faced with problems, being a quick thinker, allows me to think critically and solve issues with efficiency. Adaptability in
0.5 points -- What are some individual strengths you can bring to your community care planning team? Explain.
I believe leadership is an important factor of the band that allows for a specific member to inspire and motivate others to a mutual goal while still being of equal importance to the outcome of that goal. An officer is someone to look up to for learning and understanding. A leadership position is almost like being an idol (although an equal) to the other students and meant to bring the team to the top.
At the side of identifying the areas of improvement, focusing and building on the youth’s strengths and resiliency encourages growth and effective practices. The strengths perspective is “. . . built on the premise that individuals and communities have strengths and resources” (Handbook of social work with group, 2004, p. 66). This perspective permits social workers to recognize personal assets and beliefs of foster youth to promote growth, resiliency, and
After attending many interviews over this year, I have been asked “What are my strengths” numerous times. After careful consideration, the two characteristics that I feel are my greatest strengths are my passion for teaching, and the fact that I am coachable. According to Benekos (2016), Passion for teaching includes the ability to teach students how to learn and to instill enthusiasm and interest in learning. Since I was a little kid, I have always had a love of numbers. From playing with numbers, to calculating numbers, to talking about numbers, I have always been very fond of numbers. As an adult and mathematics teacher now, I try to instill my students with that same love and enthusiasm that I have for numbers. Everyday that I am in the
My evaluation test to see what matched my interests and personality reinforced my decision on continuing the Business Administration path towards a human resource specialist degree. The exercise helped me recognize the strengths I have that will be beneficial in the workplace, attention to detail which is a plus from me since I am very organized, stress tolerance which I can manage, Integrity is another positive quality I have, as well as dependability and initiative, I can work alone and get things done. After the exercise I got my score and continued where it said “Job Zones,” and my great fit based on my interests it just so happened to be the job that I am aspiring. There are many small tasks that my career requires and I feel confident
Upon completion of the StrengthsFinder survey, I found that my five greatest strengths are responsibility, relator, restorative, achiever, and harmony. After reviewing the results from the survey, I was not a bit surprised because those are the strengths that I flourish on. Some of these strengths are not something that you are born with; they are talents of your personhood that make you who you are (Clifton, Anderson, and Schreiner, 2006, p. 2).
Knowing one's strengths is a strength within itself. When one looks at herself and begins to search for her strengths, she realizes that finding them may not be as easy as it seems. After taking the time to evaluate myself, I found that diversity is my strongest quality. Though my class rank is not as high as I desire for it to be, I have achieved more than I ever thought I would while continuing to grow academically. While I made strides in my academic growth I was partaking in multiple clubs, extracurriculars, a part-time job, and a varsity sport.
My current strengths include; my honesty and passion towards my work. I have always been positive and confident regarding my aims and targets. Along with these, I am a good decision maker, due to which I can make right and quick decisions. Moreover, I have ability to motivate others and do team work. I am also a responsible person, when I make a target; I work day and night to achieve my goal.
