I see that you joined Honors Chemistry huh. You think you’re smart don’t you. Well, that maybe true, but not to Honors Chem (all the cool kids call it Kem, but Mr. Payne cringes at the thought *wink*). Kem, I mean, Honors Chem is a fun time when you’re not on the Struggle Bus, but everyone is almost always on the Struggle Bus. Honors Chem is no joke and will kick your butt if you take it lightly, and procrastinating will NEVER work, not that I know from personal experience or anything like that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. A thing you should really do in Honors Chem, besides pay attention and stay on it, is to befriend your teacher. Mr. Payne knows almost all the answers to your chemistry questions, it’s almost as if he majored in chemistry or something. You should approach Honors Chem with high spirits and with a motive to learn. Trust me, there is a lot of learning. And when you first start Honors Chem, start strong so you a bad grade from a …show more content…
I didn’t live up to my full potential in Honors Chem. I was lazy for the beginning half and tried hard during the last half. Think of Chemistry as a tower of blocks and each block represents knowledge of a subject. You can’t build a well-structured tower if the bottom blocks are small and fragile while the top blocks are big and heavy. Everything in built off of the previous topic, so I struggled really hard my first semester of Honors Chem and everything seemed hard. The second semester was better, but my knowledge from last semester was so awry, things were still hard to catch. And if there’s one thing that I can tell you to make sure to learn, it would be your polyatomic ions. That’s the big thing that screwed me over. And Honors Chem makes you realize a lot about yourself, like how desperate you can get over “some” science class. And the hard truths about it, is that you will ask questions or you will be forever lost. And my final words for you, DO YOUR REVIEW GUIDES. They are too useful to be
The main structure of class would be to take notes for about two weeks, have classroom discussions about the current topic, do a lab experiment, and then study for a test. I seldom had homework, therefore, I took in all information taught in class and studied alone. Considering this is how college classes operate, I will be knowledgeable in this area. I am an intelligent person, hence not all classes is challenging, but chemistry is of those that are difficult. Learning about materials and substances I have never come in contact with before and memorizing all the information that comes along with the elements is a bit overwhelming. I continued to believe that every hard assignment or test will be rewarded in the future. The assigned class work caused me to think more than usual. Not to mention, my teacher was a professor and gave tests used in college classes. By allowing myself to study and persevere on my own, I actually did myself a favor. When challenging content arose, I thought, I want to become a doctor and in order to get there, I need to realize it will only get harder and I have only benefited myself. On the other hand, time management skills are a prominent way chemistry is a helpful
Lastly, grades can kill. I mean do not let grades slip. Always do, and hand in assignments in the beginning of the semester or quarter. Grades matter more in high than in middle school. Collages are going to look at high school grades. I did not try in middle school at all knowing this, so most of my grades were C's. Now that I am in high school I stay up till the middle of the night doing home work. Try to check the grade book on Skyward once or twice a week, and ask the teacher nicely if an assignment is missing. Never let grades slip; the punishment could be summer
According to the Associated Press, the FDA stated that chicken sold on the markets across USA are fed with inorganic arsenic, a detrimental chemical for human health. It’s given to chicken because it causes quicker weight gain and less feeding. It’s also given to turkeys, hogs, and chickens for enhanced color.
Have you ever wondered how the world has had the benefit of living ten years longer or why the cost of medical treatment has raised thousands a dollar a year per person? It may be based on the fact that Medical technologies have come a long way in the last few eras, from the way that we gain information to what it costs to get healthcare. In hopes that this will help many of our clients to understand what has happened in the past as well as what is occurring now I will share some of these advances with you.
It’s been 3 months since the acid rain has started. The year is 2022 where humans have become so careless that they allowed toxins into water making this dangerous substance. It is almost like a battlefield if you go running through the rain. At first, you will notice sudden, sporadic pain that that will slowly go through your body if you only contact with it for 5 minutes. The pain will go away in a couple of hours if you don’t have contact with the rain. The second stage is when you start seeing burns in your body. They become scars that will never go away unlike my dreams and hopes. The third and final stage is paralysis and possible death. It is mustard gas. The properties are so similar that people sometimes called it “mustard rain”.
In the Spring semester, I was enrolled in Physics 122, Organic Chemistry 2, Cell Biology, and Organic Chemistry Lab 2. I followed the advice given to me by the Meyerhoff staff as well as the lessons that I learned from my previous semester to ensure my success in the spring semester. I had study groups for each of the courses and set aside certain days throughout the week to work on each course. For Organic Chemistry 2, I had a study group of 3-4 people and each week we would pick one person to teach the others a new chapter. This method proved effective because it allowed everyone to contribute to the material and allowed discussion that formed into questions that would later be asked to the instructor. It helped me see the material in a way
Is Listerine a highly trusted and respected dental hygiene company? If so, then why shouldn’t it fully explain and show proof to its claims when the company releases advertisements to its very wide audience of potential customers. Listerine’s advertisement for its Advanced White mouthwash is effective in drawing in its audience to believe its many claims because the product is presented in such a simple manner accompanied by funky animations and exciting up-beat music. But it is unreasonable when it comes to the actual claims that it is making throughout the advertisement because they all seem to be a bit over the top and unrealistic.
We live in a world that offers so many things to us. A home, food, water, life itself, yet we don 't take much care of it and are destroying it instead. The presence of pollution has been around for such a great amount of time now that you would expect us as humans, to start noticing the mass destruction we are causing and start doing something about it. Glaciers are melting, water levels are rising, the water and air around is being polluted if it 's not polluted already. There is little being done to try and stop or at least slow down this fatal event. If we do not start taking care of our own home, we will soon be left with no home at all, and the only one’s we can blame for that, is ourselves.
What you see before you are my final grades from the past two semesters. While I know you 're concerned with the letters and numbers, rest assure that these are about as insightful as an Instagram photo. My first semester of freshman year, for the most part, went by without much of a hiccup. I was able to coast by with the same mindset towards learning I carried in high school, and I finished with a 3.30 GPA. Afterward, my second semester was what lead me to buckle down. I realized that I would need to dedicate my time outside of the classroom to studying and comprehending the material. My classes were going to become harder, each assignment more crucial, and my time more valuable. Thus, about midway through the semester, I was building better habits with studying and learning in general. Keep in mind that at this point; I was still adapting to the routine of a college curriculum. Even though I adopted a serious attitude towards each of my classes, there was still something working against my favor. Looking back now, I realize that I had been enrolled in more credit hours than, perhaps, what I could handle. The increase was only one extra credit hour (16 to 17) which came from a chemistry lab that I needed to take as a science. But, considering that I went from taking all 100 level classes to 200 level classes, including a 300 level class, the extra credit hour was enough to stretch my workload. Plus, we had a lab report due almost every week, which is more than what you
Interesting in the pollution topic. There are many problems of pollution specially on Los Angeles. Because their problems caused about the air pollution and another environment in the world that we should to reduce it around us. Pollution is killing a several people around the world in a year. It is harmful effects on people's health and the environment. According to NPR, “some scenes in the film are shocking, including a visit to a hospital operating room, where viewers see the damage China’s polluted air can do with a person’s lungs.” (Guenthner2015). We should consider these problems to reduce the pollution in the environmental. Personal should responsibility for the success of our local environmental protection programs by actively
Mercury pollution occurs from industrial sources such as mining, power plants and coal combustion centers. When mercury is released from the sources, it can travel halfway around the world before it ever enters into the waterways and contaminates the fish that we then eat. Through the trade of those fish, people in every continent are at risk for mercury pollution. Newborns are also at risk of mercury pollution due to the consummation of fish by their mothers, thousands of babies are at risk every year of impaired motor skills (“Reduce Mercury Pollution”). In order to reduce the pollutants of mercury we need to implement a policy to clean up sites already contaminated, limit the amounts discharged into the water and provide consumers on tips to reduce their exposure to it.
Every kid wants to go to the moon one day, or save children and families from blazing fires They all have a dream. We were always asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” The stereotypical jobs always came to mind. The thought of being an astronaut, floating through space and discovering the planets. The thought of being a firefighter and saving the town from disastrous flames. These were normally the first ones. Kids would always argue over who would be the best police officer. They would run around the playground playing “Cops and Robbers”, testing each other's heroic abilities. Then, there was me.
In relatively recent years, the use of atomic energy for electricity has been very popular, because it’s a reliable source of steady electricity. However, now it’s scorned, due to the tremendous amount of money that goes into it. Even so, atomic energy tends be cleaner and can create limitless power, for it does not release harmful gases in the air and the energy can be immeasurable using nuclear fusion. However, some might argue that safety is at threat. For example, a meltdown might occur in a nuclear power plant, releasing harmful radioactive wastes into the environment and an atomic power plant can also be an ideal target for terrorist attacks. Regardless of this, I speculate atomic energy should one day become the prime source of our electricity. Since atomic energy will not dispense any toxic gases into the atmosphere and damage the Earth.
The world has seen a significant amount of change in its weather pattern lately. From the three hurricanes two that hit the United States with so much force and devastation, that produced more than thirty inches of rain at one point, followed by storm surges that wipe out many homes. The tornados and winds in these two hurricanes were so overwhelming for anyone to fathom. To a country that lies in the Atlantic Ocean was hit so hard by a hurricane it was leveled to the ground and probably take a year or longer to get it up and running again. Across Asia the temperatures have been extremely hot for the summer, they have felt the heat, that their drought could be extended into the fall with no relief in sight until fall. The majority of the countries across the world believe that the climate is changing. Most of them want to unite to help slow this process down and try to protect this planet for future generations. Air pollution is the biggest contributor of climate change. We as humans release so much emission into the air that it causes more greenhouse gases. Which makes the pollution worst. What is causing these gases most of the pollution is caused from coal burning and mining. Where every country has become so dependent on these fossil fuels. If the countries could find an alternative for the need to use this resource we would be able to help cut down our greenhouse gases, that is putting our air at so much risk. Just do not blame the coal companies for what they
Companies selling life saving drugs are raising prices and causing people to not be able to afford the drugs they need to survive. Not everyone can pay hundreds of dollars for a couple of pills to help them survive. Many people's lives will be in danger because they don't have the money to buy these drugs. The government should control the prices of these life saving drugs so that people will be able to afford them.
