Oh Yeah! Sounds good doesn’t it! Even though, the idea of independence sounds incredible it turns out that for many independence is not what it is said to be. Research states that many college students are not only not eating enough fruits and vegetables; in fact, they are not even eating one serving per day. (Oregon, 1). Because, many college students are slipping into these bad eating choices, college students should be presented with practical approaches to a healthier lifestyle.

As of 2016 there is over 50,000 fast food restaurants across the world. Cheeseburgers and fries may sound like a delicious meal, however the ingredients put into the food make it unhealthy for the lives of young people. During the 70s, health diseases and disorders were mostly caused by inherited genes, whereas today it is due to people consuming a lot of calories. Because of the new technology that has been created, the amount of exercise has dropped significantly, leading to the increase in sizes of Americans. People should want to help others to ensure that the future changes for the health of the next generation or else the problem of obesity will never be fixed. To fix the problem of obesity, it’s up to 18 to 26 year olds to change the ways of how people eat and the personal choices made in one’s life. Millennials should take personal responsibility to lower the risks of obesity epidemic and obesity related diseases in addition to the government pushing toward healthier choices to educate and improve the lifestyle of the future generations.
As years go by American weight struggle has been getting worse. People with diabetes today has more than double since 1994. While there are ways to help bring down obesity, most companies have not taken action. There are many factors to why obesity has only been increasing all these years.
Mindful eating has a direct relation to health and behavior. My major is Criminal Justice. It would be interesting to find a study that provides comparison and contrast on this subject. When I was younger my parents had no problems letting us eat McDonalds or pizza on a Friday night. As an adult, that has drastically changed for me. I choose not to eat fast food regularly. I love to cook, so finding healthier ways to enjoy a burger or other fast food delicacies has become my hobby.
Obesity is a very serious subject that a lot of people take lightly, especially us as Americans. America is the most obese country in the world. Statistics show that 300,000 people die a day in the United States of America due to obesity. This clearly shows that we have a serious problem that is massively underestimated. Obesity is also something that countries all across the world suffer from. For example, Australia is also one of the most obese countries in the world, and 50,000 people die a year from obesity in Australia. That’s 140 people who die per day in Australia. To solve the problem of obesity the prices of junk food should be raised and the prices of healthy food should be lowered and more convenient.
Over one third of the US population suffers from obesity and overweight. According to a study reported by the NIH (National Institute of Health), more than 1 in 3 adults were considered to be overweight, and 1 in 3 adults were considered to be obese. Children are also victims to this growing epidemic, with 1 in 6 children/adolescents anywhere from 2 to 19 were considered to be obese. This is a growing problem, and it has been for the last 20 years in America.
My best recommendation to improve health conditions would be, to have reasonable amount of food per day. Our appetite can be differnet depending on the day and we all can relate how much we all want food unexpextedly, but we can have extreme food appetite due to many things such as stress or anxeity. As a young woman there are circunstanes were I eat food woithout really having a craving for it. This is a common state that a normal person goes through. That is why i would suggest that instead of eating at random moments during the day we create limits to how much amount of food we consume per day. With that we can conclude that we gain a balance when it comes to eating our favorite foods.

In this great nation of the United States of America, where we are blessed to have an abundance of places to nourish ourselves and eat whatever, whenever, and how much we want? When someone looks at their plate piled high and wide, they will most likely eat the whole thing. So many people today do not understand how to control their portion sizes and that is why they overeat. Just as home cooked meals can be better for you, in that you can personally monitor it, the same goes for portion sizes (Elliot). One way to do this is by purchasing single portions of snacks or ordering half or smaller sizes of meals, versus a full or “biggie” size. When dining out, portion sizes are predetermined, and most people choose to eat it all rather than waste it or take it home. Compared to years ago, the portion sizes have increased dramatically, and with increased portions come an increase in waist sizes (CDC). Good tips to try when ordering is: don’t be afraid to take home what you can’t eat in one sitting. You can always make a second meal out of it versus overstuffing yourself; or only order what you can eat in one sitting. Don’t let your eyes be bigger than your mouth!
