Mushers and dogs may become tired or injured after only one day of traveling. Even though mushers are trained for dog safety, problems will still occur due to being pushed to run faster, the temperature rising, or even lack of rest or food. The climate may be harmful for the dogs if it gets to warm, or even risky for the mushers if the temperature continues to drop. Even if the climate is dangerous, many will continue to push themselves to complete the treacherous journey of 1000 miles across Alaska. If they keep moving without checking for any signs of problems, results could include difficulties that may even be fatal. The trail for this race is very dangerous and if any team gets off track, they may become lost or harm any surroundings around them. This could eventually lead to more injuries or concerns. This event isn’t just hard on the teams though. It requires hundreds of helpers and a lot of equipment to set up this race each
In calf roping, calves weighing less than 300 pounds are forced to keep running at rates that exceed 25 miles per hour when they are roped. The reason they keep running at such high speeds is that they are being tormented in the holding chute. Their tails are curled, their tails are rubbed forward and backward over the steel bars of the chute and they are stunned with electric prods until the gate opens. They burst out of the chute at top speed just to be held back - clotheslined - with a choking rope around the neck. They are frequently harmed and some are killed.
Into the Wild is a novel about Chris McCandless who left everything, and everyone he knew after college and essentially disappeared into the wild. A commonly asked question at the end of Into The wild is why did Chris McCandless do this, why did he abandon his college education and everyone he knew. Many have tried to figure out just this question but with the help of the memoir Walden, a book that heavily inspired McCandless, it is easy to see why McCandless left his conventional life. These reasons are that He wanted to be more like nature, to go with the flow and not let every little thing throw him off, Chris took this to the extreme and literally joined nature to get a better understand of it. He also wanted to live a simpler life, Chris again took this to the extreme by leaving everything that was extra or unneeded in his life. The final reason is that he wanted to see what reality and real life must offer, he didn’t want to see and live with the reality that other people imposed on things.
It is often noted that one can never truly understand the beauty of life until they go and experience it. This idea parallels with getting to know who they really are and figuring out what their purpose in life genuinely is, which not many people cannot comprehend. Everyone has different fears, desires, and feelings, but not until you live a life of new experiences do you harness your true self. Growing through experiences and connecting with nature allows someone to more deeply reflect on their individual purpose on Earth and discover their own definition of happiness. Henry David Thoreau comments on this even further by proposing that the disconnection from a society in which we are comfortable is the only way to cultivate an understanding of ourselves. Chris McCandless sets out on an adventure in a life absent of routine to push his boundaries and prove that he could make it on his own, finding the meaning of life in the process. Henry David Thoreau’s statement “Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves”, is correct, as evidenced by Jon Krakauer’s novel Into the Wild.
This fight leaves the dogs dripping with blood, in pain, weak, and tired. And that is part of the reason why I agree for it being banned. Yet it also shows that the dogs are sting and fight their own battles. The activities that occurred are common nature for dogs. Such instincts date back to their
Providence Canyon, or the "Little Grand Canyon" as some call it, is a well-known tourist attraction in southwest Georgia. It is, as of now, a state park. However many believe that it should be recognized and made a national park. There are many reasons to support this decision. There is various types of wildlife, it could also be good for education on erosion and rock formations, and it would be good for the economic purposes because it is engulfed in tourism every year. This is why many believe that Providence Canyon should be made a national park.
Have you ever heard of the Iditarod? If not, it’s a dog sled race in Alaska. This race is dreadful to dogs, in ways that’ll break dog lovers hearts. So, I think the Iditarod is bad for dogs. The terrain of the Iditarod is harmful to the olympic dogs racing. Also, in the Iditarod there are multiple mushers that abuse their dog sled team. Along with that, the dogs are at high risks of death in every race. Dogs are getting hurt in the dreadful Iditarod and the temperatures are just the beginning.
Initially started to commemorate the critical role sled dogs played in a life-saving medicine delivery, the race has since become a representation of cruelty to dogs. With more than $725,000 on the line, it is difficult to say with assurance that all Iditarod sled dogs are being fairly treated before and during the race. Although many believe that dogs are born to run, the Iditarod must be stopped because of the exploitation and overexertion that the sled dogs put through it face.
They risk an animal’s life to win a race that could be won without doping the horses. The American Quarter Horse Association Handbook, the rules specifically says drugs are not tolerable, yet they only test the horse the day before not the day of the race. Stated in handbook, “AQHA rules pertaining to prohibition of drugs, surgical alteration or any inhumane treatment of the horse….thereby making the exhibitor, participant and/or the owner eligible for possible disciplinary action upon proof of the presence of such prohibited drug by laboratory analysis, existence of surgical alteration or any inhumane treatment of the horse.” (AQHA). The book strongly repeats itself about the horse’s safety; it lists many different drugs that could damage a race horse’s health. Even with all the rules and regulations about drugs that could kill a horse, owners do not listen. They inject the drugs knowing the different possibilities that could occur. In the article, “Prohibited Substances, Feed, and the Performance Horse,” it argued, “competition horses are expected to compete with no banned substances or controlled medication substances in their systems unless at a level defined and approved by Federation Equestre Internationale regulations.” (Huntington). Any herbal or natural product that is used on horse before a race could pump up a horse’s heart which could lead to the overpowerment of the drug. Relating to the
Most people when they think of bull riding is staying on as long as possible and falling off and getting hurt. Payouts, spinal and brain injuries, and little but very painful pains is all thing that can happen to someone that bull rides.
”The impossible is doable as long as you have a great brother and good trails friends. Uncertainty is all. Crazyass passion is the staple of life and persistence its nourishing force. Without them, you cannot cross the trail” (416).
For someone to be on the road, people usually assume that they have lost hope in life, or that they were not that determine to maintain a place in our social class. Those who decided to live on the road do it for a different reason, reason that are either a push or pull factor. Someone who has helicopter parents, or having a difficult time trying to fit into society can find a reason to venture out and find self. Someone who felt like they no longer have a purpose in life, can find it by going on the road, because no one know you better than yourself. When writing a story of your life, do not let anyone else hold the pen. Just like the north star, which helped slaves find their way from slavery and captivity. In order to find true self, risk must be taken. While life on the road can seem like an act of avoidance of reality and problems, it can help someone find a purpose for life and their true self, therefore I believe that life on the road, is helpfully for those who are struggling with problems.
Waking up and looking outside, the snow is several inches deep covering the grass, the street, and the snow-banks are knee high. These are the perfect conditions, for one thing, snowboarding. A snowboarder knows the prime conditions to ride and will do anything to make sure they are on the mountain ready to go when those conditions arise. In preparation for snowboarding, you’ll need to consider the temperature, where you will be riding, and what type of gear is needed for the conditions.
While there are a multitude of reasons to end this barbaric festival the first is of course the inhuman treatment these innocent souls are forced to endure. Many other sites claim that one of the reasons is the fact that The Yulin Dog Meat Festival is a dangerous food safety issue, we care little about this reason, in honesty we hope that any participate gets infected with one of the many diseases like rabies that these mistreated animals contract during their forced captivity.
Once the dogs prove to be ready, they are placed in the pit against larger dogs to test their willingness or determination to face collapse and future defeat. If the dogs pass the test, they are deemed ready to fight. When this happens, they are brought into the arenas after being washed, to make sure they have nothing on their coats that will harm the other dogs. A pitch usually consisting of plywood walls, about twenty feet in diameter with carpet, is where the fight will take place. Inside of the pit there will be an indication of lines, usually marked by masking tape or paint. The animals are brougt to the pitch by their owners. Inside the arena there will be one referee and the two owners of the dogs. On command, the dogs will be released, they smash together like a couple of mac trucks. They look like a wrestling match with teeth, biting one another, trying not to let go of their opponet. The matches can last up to forty-five minutes and end when one dog can no longer fight back because of exhaustion or death.
