Coming home after a long day at school, and all you want is to lie down on your bed and check your social media, have a few laughs at a couple of videos and maybe message a couple of friends.unfortunately for some people their days do not go so smoothly imagine being verbally attacked and tormented everyday, you absolutely hate going to school and you do not even enjoy going home because you know that the bullying is going to follow you home and continue through your social media. Bullying in this generation is not taken serious enough and it is time for everyone to be aware on how dangerous it is.
Its 2017 and bullying still remains the same in fact it has increased. Bullies and mean people have been around for as long as anyone can remember , but due to newer technologies being made more ways of bullying have been created which means more ways for people to cyberbully. Most bullying occurs on instagram, facebook, email etc.. if you scroll through any of your social medias there is not a chance that you will get to the bottom of the page without seeing a form of hate.statistics show that eleven percent of adolescents and teenagers report that embarrassing or damaging photos have been taken of them without their knowledge or consent.sometimes teenagers take photos of other people without them knowing and share it online and make a mockery out of them on purpose,to them they may consider it a “joke” and will laugh about it and share it around not knowing how much of an impact it could make on that person's well being and life.there is a difference between a couple of friends joking around and having a little bit of banter compared to someone who is being targeted and harmed continuously by hurtful words or embarrassing photos.Teenagers usually do horrible things like this to ‘fit in’,’be popular’ or for their own selfish reasons.
One of the effects of bullying is that it can change the victim’s personality. It can cause people who are normally confident and happy to become self-conscious, shy, and unsure. Most of the time victims of bullying may also become sad or depressed, keeping them from trying new things and excelling. Once a person has been bullied, they may hesitate to participate in situations
These days bullying isn’t just taking place at school on the playground, or in the hallways, it is taking place online. Today, and in recent years kids and young teens will only face more and more bullying as things evolve with social media, things like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are only going to become increasingly popular and new platforms will be made as well. Bullying affects people so much that it can
Bullying has always been a hot-button topic, but due to the Internet this has become an even larger problem. "With an estimated 45 million children between the ages of 10 and 17 in the U.S. alone using the Internet every day, social interactions have increasingly moved from personal contact in the school room to virtual contact in the chat room, and Internet bullying has emerged as a new and growing form of social cruelty" (Williams & Guerra, 2007). With the rise of social media also came the rise of cyber bullying. Before the Internet, most bullying occurred only at schools or the workplace. Once the individual who was being bullied left the school or the workplace they were free from the bullying for the rest
“Early one morning in 2013, this fourteen-year-old from Indiana purposely hanged herself from a tree in front of her school bus stop so that her tormentors would see her lifeless swinging corpse. She had allegedly been repeatedly mocked as a ‘slut’ and a ‘whore,’ as well as enduring relentless teasing over the fact that her father had been jailed for hitting her” (Goad). Bullying has been a major problem in our society. The power of bullying can ruin someone’s life. Nothing good can ever come from bullying no matter how it happens. Bullying has been around for a long time, and it must come to an end. Bullying should be stopped because of the terrible and heartbreaking outcomes.
If you saw someone getting bullied, would you try to stop it, or would you ignore it and walk away? Bullying is a big problem, especially in the United States. There are active efforts to stop it, but many studies show that a simple intervention from a bystander can work wonders. In fact, a study done by Hawkins and Pepler from York University, along with Craig from Queen’s University, shows that a whopping 57% of interventions (in bullying situations) are effective.
Back in the past many have focused on drug and alcohol use in school students along with students carrying weapons to schools, and it seemed as if no one was recognizing the significance of school bullying. For victims of bullying, they go to school every day facing harassment, taunting, and humiliation. Kids today come home and kill themselves or never want to go back to school because of BULLYING. “Studies show that 25-35% of teens encountered some type of bullying in their lifetime (Nansel et al,).” Bullying is a form of violent behavior that happens not only in the schools but everywhere. Kids everywhere have been exposed to bullying in school for generations and ages . Although bullying has always been a factor the consequences for
Bullying is becoming more and more extreme. Bullying is when someone intentionally brings harm to someone else. It comes in forms
Bullying has been going on for generations, it’s not a new topic. That doesn’t mean times haven’t changed. New technology has made it possible for people to bully one another without even having to be near them. This is called “Cyber Bullying”. Teens are turning electronic devices into “weapons” by using social networking websites, chat rooms, text messaging, and even more ways possible. Through this they call each other names, demean each other, and even threaten each other. Kids are put in serious cases, and even to the point of suicide. It 's important to be educated and learn as much as you can about Cyber Bullying, because it can help to prevent it from happening further on in the future. It can be beneficial for kids if their parents know and can help their children and they can handle the situation in the best way possible. By being educated, it can show bullies just what reactions they are causing to the victims emotionally, and also show kids who are being bullied that it’s okay to turn to an adult about it.
HOOK : Hey do you know that kid who everyone considers “uncool” or peculiar that sits in the back of your class who is always biting their nails, wears old clothes and shoes, smells kinda funny. You probably always walk past them like nothing and make as if they don’t exist and if they are irrelevant. You probably even have nicknames for them, that probably aren’t nice. You also might wonder why they always isolate themselves. Or in another scenario that kid who is always on the honor roll, star athlete the one who is a ladies man. Have you ever asked yourself what goes through their heads or if they have feelings or do you even bother to ask if they are doing fine? what does it take for someone to reach their breaking point and commit such heinous acts? Have you ever asked yourself what is the likelihood of them shooting up their school? Lethal violence is a problem in schools and nobody's doing anything to prevent it.
Bullying is a problem that occurs all over the world and in all types of places, but let us focus on a specific type of bullying; bullying in schools. Many schools have anti-bullying fundraisers and groups, but very few of them ever seems to help. Perhaps the reason for that is because the people in charge of the events or groups do not fully understand what it is that causes bullying. Bullying in schools can have many causes. Whether it is to intentionally hurt someone or not it is still bullying. The things that make a kid bully though are typically things that are very simple and are usually things that are “a combined effort between home and school.”(Colman, Adrian, 2002) Bullying is also often caused by a variety of people, such as parents, teachers, friends, and other students. Bullies will often put themselves in a place that makes them seem stronger than everyone around them so that no one can try to attack them, and so that no one can see their weaknesses. The main things that often lead a kid to bully are things like having a difficult home life, lacking attention, and too much power among peers.
I stood up and I watched the people eyes filled with tears and the environment impregnated with cry of mothers, fathers, cousins and relatives while I looked in awe and shamed, this was the same guy that tried to start a conversation with me three weeks ago that I ignored because other people labeled him a wanker and a weirdo. I had nothing against him after all its not a crime to be selective in choosing one’s friends so why should I neglect that moral logic and principle and moreover talking to him will lead to a drop in my reputation of being the coolest kid in high school. But standing close to the ground where is body is about to be laid, I realized that a crime is not punishable only when an individual commits it
School strategies do not work because teens still kill themselves or shoot up schools. Many teens have killed themselves because of bullying. Bullying is a form of abuse that can be physical or emotional. This causes them to go into a deep depression and have thoughts of suicide. Bullying is a problem because it causes kids to not want to show up to school or they kill themselves to get away from their tormentor School strategies do not work because teens still kill themselves or shoot up schools.
What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen (“Bullying Statistics”). Bullying has been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school.
To further understand how Connecticut schools implement the anti-bullying statute posed by the state, I will present data from the town of Marlborough. The Marlborough School District is a single PreK-6 school in a rural town serving nearly 545 students. According to the CT State Department of Education (2017) website, Marlborough encountered six total bullying incidents in the past 4 years. The state does not specify how many of those incidents, if any, were considered cyberbullying. Marlborough has written a Safe School Climate Plan, as required by the state, with the purpose of providing a learning environment free from bullying, cyberbullying, and teen dating violence to provide a positive school climate. For the purpose of this analysis, I will focus on cyberbullying.
Bullying has been an issue in education for a long time, and people have discussed many ways to fix bullying. Typically, when people are discussing bullying, they cover bullying in general and do not include bullying of LGBTQ students. The discussion of bullying of LGBTQ students has been excluded most likely because of the controversy involved. However, bullying is harmful and should not be undermined just because of someone’s sexuality. Bullying of LGBTQ students in school systems from other students is an aspect of society that continues to be a major issue, but educating students on sexuality to remove misunderstanding and advocating for LGBTQ students in school systems to show support will assist in abolishing this issue from society.
When bullying becomes noticeable to others, especially those of a higher power, it can lead to consultation to put a stop to the violence. Regina copies pages of the Burn Book and places them under the doors of classrooms in the school. When people are coming out of their classes the girls read all of the horrible things said about them and start to blame each other over who wrote it. Violent fights between the girls break out around the school. The principal, Mr. Duvall is called to try and break it up. When that does not work he sets the sprinklers in the school off to temporarily stop the girls from fighting and orders them to the gym where he declares,
