Why abortion is wrong
We all are created equal, there are certain rights given by God that you and I are not free to ignore. Therefore, the first and most basic right is the right of life. The exercise of our right to liberty and our right to the pursuit of happiness is secondary to respecting the right to life. Our pursuit of happiness must not compromise any other person's right to live. So, the right to life is not some modern anti-abortion slogan. It is the most fundamental assertion of the document upon which this nation was founded.
Abortion is murder at any stage of pregnancy, and acts against U.S. constitution. Furthermore not only does abortion harm innocent babies, but also raises the risk of medical complications for the mother.
Abortion can emotionally affect each woman differently, mothers who use an abortion as an easy exit of an unwanted pregnancy can suffer of persistent sadness, regret, anger, shame, depression, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, anxiety, thoughts of death, suicide or hopeless. Studies within the first few weeks after the abortion have found that between 40 and 60 percent of women questioned report negative reactions. Within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55% expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor. (Abortionfacts.com) the emotional side effects of having an abortion are just as real as physical side effects.
Consequently, cervical damage is another leading cause of long term complications following abortion. Normally the cervix is rigid and tightly closed. In order to perform an abortion, the cervix must be stretched open with a great deal of force. During this forced dilation there is almost always caused microscopic tearing of the cervix muscles and occasionally severe ripping of the uterine wall, as well. About 10% suffer immediate complications; one-fifth are life-threatening: • hemorrhage • infection • ripped or perforated uterus • cervical injury • embolism • anesthesia complications • convulsions • chronic abdominal pain • gastro-intestinal disturbances • endotoxin shock • second-degree burns • Rh
Abortion is the deliberate termination of a woman’s pregnancy before they deliver birth, in which it results the death of the fetus. Abortion has been one of the most heated debates in America for years. There are two sides of abortion, those who believe that it is a woman's constitutional right to decide, and others such as myself, who believe that abortion is unethical, and it is murder when destroying a child’s life.
It is difficult to think about all the different emotions a mother must feel after losing her baby; no matter how it happens. The abortion may have been something the mother wanted or she may have been pressured into it by others around her. No matter what the reason is, it is hard for a mother to lose something that was a part of her for nine months. She feels many different emotions due to the major hormone changes she goes through. These emotions can range from average feelings to feelings that are dangerous to the point where the mother needs professional help. According to the American pregnancy association (2007), abortion causes many side effects such as; regret, anger, guilt, shame, loneliness or isolation, impaired self confidence, insomnia or nightmares, relationship issues, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, depressions and anxiety (para. 3). Many mothers go through a regret period, which is
If we can accept a mother killing her own childAbortion shouldn't be allowed because because there ways to prevent pregnancy , also it basically murder, and it really unhealthy for the mother. First , society shouldn't have sex without protection or while at a young age. Also killing a person is wrong .Murdering is a crime even tho its in the womb the heart starts beating 3 to 6 weeks. Women may wait that long and it's murder. It's really unhealthy for the mother it because it causes higher level of anxiety and depression and study shows that women who have abortions are more likely to commit suicide.
Let’s move to the next topic, why the abortion is unconstitutional. When the United States became an Independent Nation the Founding Fathers declared “All men are created equal…with certain unalienable Rights…Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (A Transcription 1776). The 14th Amendment of the US Constitution provides that no person should be ‘deprived of life’ without option to the due process of the law. At conception a new life comes into existence, one with a unique genetic code and the unlimited potential for greatness that is concealed in all humans, the progression into a baby, then toddler, child, teenager, adult is certain. However, aborting a fetus denies it of life and the ability to relish its future liberty and the pursuit
Abortion is the deliberate termination of an unborn embryo or fetus during pregnancy, before it is capable of independent life . Because the act of abortion involves the removal of the human embryo/fetus , this topic has been heatedly debated for decades to no avail. In the 1970s, the landmark case Roe v. Wade determined that state laws banning abortions (in a woman’s first trimester of pregnancy) is unconstitutional. This ruling intensified the fight between abortion opposers and defenders. Today, as President Trump takes over the reins of the United States government, with his publicized anti-abortion views and his efforts to dismantle government funded women’s health care, the topic of abortion is once again in the spotlight (not that it ever left). Permitting women’s reproduction rights to become a topic of such heated discussion (in comparison to men’s reproduction rights) implies that women are still not seen or respected as equal citizens. An unwanted pregnancy can mean a great deal of unhealthy impacts regarding mental and emotional health. As human beings, a woman should have the ability to make decisions and choices regarding her body. Due to the concept of bodily autonomy , unhealthy psychosocial effects of an unwanted pregnancy, and equal rights, abortion should be legal in the first trimester.
Many studies have been done on the psychological effects of abortion and they all seem to say the same thing; woman who have abortions are more likely to develop mental health issues such as sleeping disorders, nervous disorders, and regrets about their decision (Abortion Risks: a list of major psychological complications related to abortion). This is an excerpt from the article ‘Abortion Risks: a list of major psychological complications related to abortion’ from AfterAbortion.org;
Abortion has been a big topic for a long time now whether it’s considered murder or not. Abortion is the process in which the woman terminates the fetus, abortion is a horrible thing it should be illegal in the United States and in any other country, it is wrong to take the life away from another human being. Abortion not only kills a human being but it also damages the woman carrying the fetus, it may not be a few hours after the surgery but after a couple of months she may be affected emotionally and mentally, arguments have been whether the fetus is human or not, if it is safe for the woman to terminate the child or not, and how abortion can be done without the help of a doctor.
The vast majority of people in the United States support the rights of woman and men alike. This right makes them free to pursue dreams of happiness and freedom, to do as they choose as long as it does not infringe on the rights of other “humans.” That is honestly the root of the issue with abortion in this country; we firmly believe in the rights of humans, but we treat a fetus as if it was none human. Science has proven through deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) that an unborn baby is indeed human, so if it is human then the only remaining question would be, “When is the fetus alive?” To find the answer, one must first start with the end in mind. This proposal will do just that, start at the end to explain the beginning and through a small amount of compromise, the abortion controversy will be solved with a common sense and responsible approach.
About 10% of women experience complications right after the abortion and about one fifth of those complications are major (After Effects of Abortion). The minor complications range from “minor infections, bleeding, fevers, chronic abdominal pain, gastro-intestinal disturbances, vomiting, and Rh sensitization” (After Effects of Abortion). While the most common major complications are “infection, excessive bleeding, embolism, ripping or perforation of the uterus, anesthesia complications, convulsions, hemorrhage, cervical injury, and endotoxic shock” ( After Effects of Abortion). Research has also shown that abortion can lead to miscarriages in later pregnancies and about 5% of women who have had an abortion are left sterile (After Effects of Abortion). Not only do women suffer from health complications but they also have to deal with the psychological trauma of abortion. In a study of 500 women who had an abortion up to 10% of those women suffered from “serious psychiatric complications” (After Effects of Abortion). Studies also show that “within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55% expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances and 31% had regrets about their decision.” (After Effects of Abortion). Teenagers who abort are more likely to suffer from depression and self-esteem problems due from social
First and foremost, every being has a right to life. According to When Religion and Politics mix , “a fetus is an unborn human being, and it is morally wrong to take a human life; the unborn child's life must consequently be legally protected” (McIntosh, Kenneth, and McIntosh, Marsha 60). A woman should have the right to do what she wants to do with her body and her life, but not with another human being. According to Vieira, the baby is entitled
Abortion is fundamentally murder. The killing of any innocent human being is wrong, accidentally or intentionally. The penalty for murder is five to ninety-nine years in prison (depending on the case), with a possibility for parole after thirty years. Only five years in the Jailhouse would feel like a lifetime! Unborn babies are considered human beings by the U.S. government, and if someone kills a human being, they end up in prison. Therefore, abortion
Abortion is referred as the termination of a pregnancy or of a fetus that is incapable of survival (Dictionary.com). Abortion is morally wrong and illegal because the fetus is a person. It is the same thing as murder. The reasons people have abortions are they are not ready to handle the responsibility of another human being, the fetus may have a birth defect, mother’s heath is an issue, rape, or simply because they don’t want any more children (Abortioninfo). The majority of people that have abortions are teenagers. Abortion is flat out wrong and should be banned. Being that abortion is immoral no matter the circumstances, justifies the need for a law to make it illegal.
“And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” a famous quote by Mother Teresa. Abortion is most definitely murder. If someone murders a pregnant woman and both her and the baby dies then it is considered a double homicide. This shows the unborn baby in the womb is legally classified as a life. Ronald Reagan said, “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” I strongly believe this statement to be true. Many people don’t think twice about aborting a baby they just don’t want their lifestyle to be hindered so without really thinking about the pain and suffering that baby is going to go through they decide to end its life. In a short abortion documentary video Jim Boyd, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, asked Alisa LaPolt Snow from Planned Parenthood if a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion what Planned Parenthood would want to happen to that child whom is struggling for life.
Abortion of a baby is murder. Many physicians in the United States have stated they can clearly detect brain waves in a baby as young as two months old. They have also stated that the baby can in fact feel the pain of the abortion. So, it is not only painful for the mother, it is also just as painful for the baby. The baby has a very high chance of being born healthy, with few to no problems. An abortion takes that chance away. Most babies have a very high chance of survival and being born very healthy. The baby deserves
In addition, abortion should be made illegal because it causes psychological damage. The American Pregnancy Association (APA) stated, “Emotional and psychological effects following abortion are more common than physical side effects and can range from mild regret to more serious complications such as depression.” Obviously, physical side effects will affect your daily life, but emotional damage will affect the way you think, your overall attitude, and how you live. The APA continued to list some of the potential side effects such as: regret, anger, guilt, shame, sense of loneliness or isolation, loss of
