I. Introduction:
A. Attention Getter: imagen being able to be 12% happier by sampling helping others? according to a study in Social Science and Medicine which was supported by Harvard University in 2014, When researchers at the London School examined the relationship between volunteering and measures of happiness in a large group of American adults, they found the more people volunteered, the happier they were 12%, Compared with people who never volunteered 7%.
B. Purpose Statement: So, Today I’m going to persuade you to volunteer in our community, which is one of the most connecting and meaningful activity around us.
C. Credibility Statement: I have volunteer with refugee kids, in Lutheran Family services, which was amazing to gain

But this is a problem Africans are facing.
Here in America the problem is about people not volunteering. According to volunteermatch.org for March 25, 2016, the rate of volunteering is going down, it tells us the types of organizations people tend to volunteer with, what the most common tasks they perform are, and how these things differ by various group associations. For example, in the 2015 report, we learn that older volunteers are more likely to volunteer for religious organizations than younger volunteers.
Unfortunately, however, it also shows that volunteer rates have been steadily declining* for over a decade.
According to United States Department of Labor article for February 25, 2016, reported that 24.9% of the U.S. population over the age of 16 volunteered at least once in the past year. In 2011, this percentage was 26.8%, and in 2005 it was 28.8%.
B. Transition: Equally important is to recognize the causes.
C. Second point: here’s an endless supply of reasons that could explain why volunteer rates are falling. Last year, upon seeing the results, Volunteer Match President Greg Baldwin argued that volunteer rates are falling because we as a nation don’t invest enough resources in the nonprofit sector. Without resources, nonprofits simply don’t have the capacity to effectively engage volunteers. VolunteerMatch.org for 26 January 2015, says that Our country
Volunteering to me didn’t seem very pleasing at first. My focus was simply getting the hours I needed to make my resume look good. However, my perspective changed when I began getting involved with the various activities of the community. I enjoyed helping and serving others, seeing the positive impact I made gave me a great satisfaction. Thankfully, I have volunteered in many areas, however there are a few organizations in which I have invested more time and effort.
Main Point: If we all agreed to volunteer at least once a month to help out those in need, we could alleviate many of the problems.
I happy to announce that Fall State is only a few days away! As a result, there are also numerous ways to get involved at Fall State 2016, one way is by serving as a Volunteer. By serving as a Volunteer, you will gain knowledge on how Conventions are planned and organized. Fall State Volunteer Form Sign- Ups closes November 15th! Volunteering in America is something that has helped this country to grow the way it has. Services that were given through volunteering are a necessary part of how this country has dealt with its challenges. Beyond the wars that have made and changed the lives of Americans, this country has also had to deal with tragedy that strikes with natural
Volunteering has been an essential part of my life in the past few years. As an immigrant to Canada, I deemed it my responsibility to serve my community here and back home. Hence when I got ample of opportunities to get involved I always seized them.
funding for social welfare programs, but also to bring attention to the need for direct
This is the reason why most people volunteer. The Statistics Canada Volunteering in Canada survey found that 93% of volunteers said that making a contribution to the community was the key motivational factor in their decision.
There must definitely be a change that takes place within Americans, and encourages us to donate. But, until a change takes place within the American government there will be no turn in direction. As Singer points out “ Comfortably off Americans who give, say 10 percent of their income to overseas organizations are so far ahead of most… that I [won’t] chastise them.” (326) In contrast to Singer, 10 percent of any income is enough for a household to donate while being able to attain the luxury
Next, Szalavitz bolsters her previous statement that people can benefit from selfless acts by presenting statistics and facts discovered by a study from BMC Public Health. To give the reader a sense of reality, Szalavitz offers a reminder that genuine and regular benevolence is required to reap such rewards. Next, she mentions a few more health benefits that one can acquire from helping others before describing the harm it can incur. Szalavitz continues her argument by describing a more general danger of benevolence and recognizes the limited verification of the research findings. She concludes the article with statistics of how people are being encouraged to volunteer around the world and establishes the purpose of helping others in the first
There is no better feeling than making another person happy through my own hard work and dedication, and I have experienced that euphoric feeling as a result of my volunteer work throughout my high school career. Having participated and been a leader in many service projects and activities, I have been constantly inspired to continue my dedication to helping others. I want to make a difference in people’s lives and, in turn, be inspired by the happiness and optimism of the individuals I will encounter.
As with a paid employee, volunteers need the same motivational push to perform and be their best and return on a regular basis. However, with increased fuel costs, those who regularly give of themselves will stop volunteering. The motive is not to have a different mileage rate, just one equivalent to those receiving an actual fiscal benefit for their services. A volunteer may already have personal, financial, professional, and in some cases emotional ties that may possibly deprave a person’s motivation when making decisions. Why add to the burden when it can be a benefit for those charitably contributing to society. Incentivizing an individual with a form of indirect remuneration can motivate someone to continue serving a non-profit organization. While Government may grant a tax-exempt status to an organization it does not extend the exemption to the individuals carrying out the duties and burdens imposed on and related to volunteering. While it could be argued that non-profit’s should receive more, having this mileage rate equal to the private sector is a great way to keep volunteers on the road. The Non-profit
Volunteering is not a new subject now, but people did not perceive it before because as time goes by, volunteering is becoming more and more popular since each year more people volunteer. Volunteering began around the early 19th century since America was experimenting with the Great Awakening. The Great Awakening was a period in which
I grew up in a home where volunteering was a fact of life. My dad was a member of
This research is being conducted to investigate volunteer motivation, satisfactions and dissatisfactions. As is stated by Becsi et al (2008), much of the literature in the social sciences focuses on predicting volunteering behaviour with underlying theories of resources availability.
In my five years of active volunteer work with multiple non-profit organizations, I have seen firsthand the lack of attendance of my peers in times of great community need and support from its members. Although it has become more complicated to find time to give back to the community, with a full-time school and work schedule, there is always spare time to give back. The rapidly growing demand for volunteers in communities all across America is increasing and it is everyone’s duty, especially college students, to pay their dues to the
