The Right to be heard Writers and speakers must be able to get the audience to listen to them and what they want to get across. The speaker uses three key types of reasoning: ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is the ethics or reputation a person has. This can be shown when the speaker uses their reputation to show the audience knows that there is something to back up their words and that they aren’t just talking to talk. Speakers also use it as a way to show that they live, what they say and not just saying do as I say not as I do and this gives more credibility and makes people want to listen to the speaker more. The next key type of reasoning is pathos which is the emotional side of a story that a speaker will use. They will appeal to a person’s emotional side to help get their point across by getting an emotional response. This helps to draw in the people that listen to their emotions. The last type of reasoning is logos which focuses mostly on the logical side of a story. This can be shown in the way that a speaker uses facts or focuses on a more practical sense of what they are talking about. Speakers usually use a mix between pathos and logos to appeal to most of their audience to help get their point across. These are shown in John Wooden’s TED talk, The difference between winning and succeeding. He is a retired basketball coach that had a lot of success at UCLA. This is pre known information that the audience has. This is very important to his talk because right off
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
Persuasive speech outline purpose: To persuade my audience to donate blood through the American Red Cross. Introduction:
It was October 6, 1998 when he was lured from the bar that cold, fateful night. His skull was smashed with a pistol butt as he was lashed to a fence, left for dead in near freezing temperatures. Nearly eighteen hours later he was found by passersby and taken to a hospital where we remained in a coma for several days until slowly slipping away. At his funeral, picketers carried signs saying, "God Hates Fags" and *Fags Deserve to Die."
Two of our fellow seniors, Curtis Robinson and Sumayyah Singletary, have taken the initiative to plan an unofficial class trip. The following is a message from them:
“ Great shot Breanna, great shot” said a fan congratulating her on winning the game with a buzzer beater shot, with a second left to play. After the game was done, she went into the locker room to change and get ready to go home. Once she got finished changing she starting walking outside towards her car.
An American literary theorist and novelist, Kenneth Burke, once said, “Wherever there is persuasion, there is rhetoric, and wherever there is rhetoric, there is meaning.” (Burke) Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr. and Fannie Lou Hamer all delivered powerful persuasive speeches that will go down in history. The use of these motivational individuals’ language and persuasion played a pivotal role within the civil rights movement, the movement that achieved the most important breakthrough in the equal rights legislation. We can observe this in the speakers’ rhetoric devices like ethos, logos and pathos.
Very early on when I was growing up, my parents would push me to do better in school and at my baseball games. For me going to school and practice keep on getting repetitive so as a young kid, I did what anyone would do, I started getting lazy and started to slack off. Don’t get me wrong I still keep on doing most of my homework and I still went to practice, I just didn’t put in the effort to do better that I knew I can. But after this game, this one game where it came down to the wire, I had experienced the most tragic lost in my baseball career. And to this day, I’ll never forget the words that my grandpa told me after the game…
A. Soon after giving blood you will receive a copy of your blood type, in case you do not know it, in the mail.
Daniel khun, I love you. Paul McCain, I love you. frank Dalton, I love you. Mrs. Jodi meeker archer, I love you too. As a matter of fact class, I love everyone in here. Now some of you might be appalled by me saying this. Many of you may be flattered by it; and a number of you might even wonder. Is this guy crazy? Who does he think he is? How could he have the audacity to tell me he loves me? To you I say this, I’m just a normal guy with a big heart; a guy practicing the correct ideology to remedy this evil world. And right now, I’m trying to influence you to abide by the same system. A system that is so natural and so pure, but is often revered as a weakness or an enigma that should be avoided at all cost. As a matter of fact, I believe
For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the

On November 29th 2016, I got the worst phone call anyone could ever have. I remember very vividly standing in the new gym of the Northeast Community School watching the varsity basketball game. I was in a very good mood as we had just won our game. My phone suddenly rang. It was a close friend. I answered in a cheery voice. When she said hi back, she was crying and very quiet. My heart sank.
Imagine you’ve saved your allowance to buy a basketball. Then, you take said basketball, go to the park, and everybody at the park uses your basketball, but they don't let you play in the game with them. Everyone is just out there scoring with your basketball, passing it around, laughing and treating it as if they own it. These people don't even let you shoot on the opposite end with an old raggedy basketball that they’ve abused; you just have to watch these motherfuckers. But those are the rules or “the way things are done,” so you’re told to respect it and wait your turn, but by the time it’s your turn, it’s starting to get dark out and nobody wants to play anymore. So, now you’re walking home staring at your once new basketball with an empty park as your backdrop and you're pissed, but you learned your lesson.
festivities you have not been worthy to me or these children you deserve nothing.(Adrian)”we deserve everything this world could possibly give us but you,you deserve nothing for treating us this way,you old rag”.(The lady)children leave the room now, while i deal with these selfish teens”.so all the kids leave the room until it's just the lady and the five of them.
Anytime you have an audience, there is more pressure to perform well. If you are performing on stage, you want do your very best dance or act out every move to its ultimate potential and enjoy the applause. If you are playing a sport, you want to hear the roar of the crowd cheering your name as you take home that win. To successfully achieve the goal, you must endure through any trial that may keep you from your specific objective. Endurance is a character trait that must be exercised daily. You can’t just wake up one day and complete a marathon when you’ve never run a day in your life. If you do, you’ll probably injure yourself. Your body needs to build up strength and endurance to complete each mile you’ll face, so when you get to mile 19 you won’t quit.
