Have you ever wondered what a reptile or mammal could do to your learning? 2.5 million children already have pets in their classroom across North America. All the students in North America need pets in their classroom because they benefit students. Well, I know what you're probably thinking where do the pets go during school breaks and holiday and the answer is they get abandoned. Most classrooms have sign up sheets to take the pets over weekends and holidays so the pet doesn’t get abandoned but, get a loving home. Pets should be allowed in classrooms because they teach students responsibility, pets help kids build empathy, and pets in classrooms will help the kids who don’t get the chance to have a pet at home. Kids don’t have the responsibility they need because their …show more content…
Bullying is a problem that is world wide. If a classroom pet can build up empathy and help with bullying then, kids may like school because they won’t have to worry about getting teased or picked on. The informational article “Should You Have A Pet In Your Classroom?” stated that developing empathy will help students become responsible people as well as responsible pet owners. Not all students understand how to be a responsible pet owner and it might be hard for them to learn so, pets in classrooms are important in a child's life. According to the text “Should You Have A Pet In Your Classroom?” empathy helps students feel what others feel but it will also help the students feel what animals feel. Take note of that statement because if people can feel what their animals feels as well as the people around them then they might be able to treat both the animal and the person how they should be treated. Also, the student will be able to feel when their pet might be hungry and when it might be hurt. Empathy is a hard thing to teach and to learn. It is important that people have figured out that empathy can be taught through pets because now students will be able to mature
A common concern is the damage that a pet may pose on the student’s room and belongings. While this is a legitimate worry, as some pets do make a mess, it is solely the students responsibility to minimize and pay for any damage that the animal may do. Because of this, the school would never have to worry about the expenses that would come with damage to the property. Another concern is that pets may be a distraction to students while they are studying or trying to do homework. As an owner of a puppy, I do understand this concern, however, it is much easier that you would think. There are many things, such as toys and treats, that can distract a puppy and allow its owner to work without problems. If all else fails, a crate with a comfy bed will keep the puppy out of the
Imagine you're in school and a cute little puppy comes up to you during an important test. You can't resist but to pet the cute puppy. Little do you know that a dog can reduce your stress levels dramatically. You ended up doing better on her school test than the other classroomes without the puppy. In other words that puppy saved the day for a bad grade! An animal can realise an anti stress hormone in your body, which causes you to have less stress. This is why animals should be able to be in the classroom.
Zoos have always been a controversial topic. Some believe zoos are great and support them but others believe zoos are cruel and should be banned. Everyone has their own views and opinions on zoos. Many people assume that zoos are horrible, but it is because they are not well informed about what zoos actually do for animals and people. Zoos are not only a source of entertainment for people but zoos focus and prioritize on animal care and conservation to help fight extinction of endangered animals. Zoos also offer many educational programs that help educate people and children about animals and how important they really are. They also give the opportunity to see an animal people never thought about seeing. UTA students should support zoos because students need to understand that zoos are for educational and researching purposes. Although some do not agree, zoos help fight wildlife extinction, educate, and are also a form of entertainment.
An article from Better Homes and Gardens also shows how animals can be great teachers. One of the paragraphs specifically focuses on how animals teach us. "Companion animals are natural teachers. They help people of all ages learn about responsibility, loyalty, empathy, sharing, and unconditional love” (How Pets Help People, Better Homes and Gardens). This shows how much animals can help us
In most places owning a dog or cat is second nature, but what about a tiger, bear or maybe python? Exotic pet ownership is far from having a clear right or wrong answer but it is in need of a ban for both the protection of animal and owner. For exotic pet owners, owning a wild beast insures a sense of power and uniqueness. It is also their way of contributing to the conservation of a species by having a “backup population” once human population growth and habitat destruction has resulted in extinction (Slater 113). But in reality the ownership of wild animals as pets only helps to damage already fragile ecosystems, both the one from which they came from and the new one in which they find themselves. Animals in captivity are also stripped of a natural life in the wild, free of confinement and unsuitable care. Finally, the risk to humans is very large, injuries inflicted from exotic pets are dangerous and possibly deadly. Bans vary from state to state, ranging from no ban to partial ban to complete ban, but even in states with full bans, exotic pet ownership still occurs. Private ownership of an exotic animal as a pet should be banned in the US, due to disruptions in ecosystems, the dangers that wild animals are exposed too, and the risks to the owners of these pets.
Every child has asked their parents for a pet animal. The thing is though, is what type of animal they asked for. Such as a dog or cat and even the occasional hippopotamus for Christmas, right? Lots of people buy exotic animals not knowing how much work it really takes to take care of them. For example, many people have bought pythons and when they get to a size where they can’t keep care of them they let them go into the wild. Exotic animals are very costly and time consuming, they grow up and get bigger and all in all they are very dangerous.
Innocent canines are spending over half of their short lifespan alone and bored because of school! Dogs, man's best friend are treated unfairly, and are not allowed in schools. These dogs are bored and alone all day because kids and parents are gone. Dogs are living things too, they should be able to do the same things as us humans, and dogs lives are not any less valuable than our lives. Dogs should be allowed in schools because they relieve stress, they would make school fun, and it would help dogs live longer.
Many people nowadays have different views on what exactly to define animals as, and whether or not they deserve any rights. Some believe that they are nothing more than a childhood pet used for entertainment, while others believe that they are beautiful exquisite animals. Currently, animals inside of a household have more rights that cattle or chicken since they are treated as another member of the family. I think that all animals are worthy of moral consideration, not just house pets, since all animals have enough intelligence to be domesticated, they can all feel emotions such as pain and happiness, they can all care about the wellbeing of others, and they all play a critical role in the circle of life.
Pets. Pets are frequent in homes all over the world, but should they be allowed in schools? They are many different points of view on this subject but, many parents, teachers and kids believe that “pets are only a distraction and that is to hard for kids to care for a pet” but actually they are quite the opposite. Pets in the classroom believe it or not teach kids good skills and lets children benefit from interacting with these pets. Because of these reasons I think that pets should be allowed in classrooms.
There is a reason people say dogs are a man’s best friend. When I was younger, I was always afraid that some “bad guy” would break into my house. This fear caused me to have nightmares and lose sleep. Then I got a dog and I felt so much safer! Right now there is a case going to the Supreme Court to decide if service dogs should be allowed in schools. Service dogs should be allowed in schools because they help people with disabilities, they provide comfort to people, and because dogs are frequently used in fields of medicine. If I found comfort with a dog, so can students with disabilities.
Certainly it is within the realm of possibility for a service miniature horse to lose control and kick a student out of a 4th story window or for a service dog to relieve itself on a computer tower. An example of a service animal gone wrong is when a service pit bull attacked a dog and three people in Yakima, WA, (Pitbull Used as Service Animal Attacks Dog, Three People). While such tragedies do happen, it is important to remember that all actions require some degree of risk and that no political action taken will yield purely favorable results. Moving onto another reason people do not want animals on campus, students and faculty with agrizoophobia (the fear of animals) also have a valid argument against the policy. Unfortunately, every decision made will make some unhappy, and it is up to those in power to weigh how many people will be happy with the decision made versus those who will be unhappy.
Employees bringing their pet dog to work is a very controversial topic. An abundance of people support this idea, because they feel they would be more productive, happier, more relaxed, and less stressed. However, many people feel like bringing dogs into the workplaces only causes problem such as, allergies, behavioral episodes, and any fearful mindsets the employees may have. I feel like dogs, while they bring many great qualities to anywhere they go, should not be allowed into a work area unless need-be.
In addition having a pet at home improve kids School attendance because they have better overall health and have less sickness and non pet owners. Dogs also make stressful situation easier to handle for kids. Finally dogs help children improve their reading ability a lot of children don't like to read out loud to people because they are afraid of messing up. But studies show reading out loud to dogs help the children's reading level and reading capability because dog don't judge if you messed up while you are reading. In conclusion a dog is a very important feature in a child's life.
Reporting live! A school is denying a therapy dog for a child unless they pay the extra of $125, for young Zachary to bring his dog in school to help him. Zachary has disabilities that his dog Majesty helps get him through. What would you do if your child needed a therapy dog and couldn’t have one he feels comfortable with in school? Well Zachary’s family fought for the dog to make their child happy. People shouldn’t have to fight against a school to provide a therapy dog for their child that needs one.
Some people agree that animals should be kept in the zoo. They said it would be safer for the animals and they won’t be extinct. The amount of possibilities of them dying, shot by hunters or any other reason, still higher than the chances of their survival. Food and shelter are provided, medicine, and their breeding is being controlled. And many of the wild animals in zoos are ones that are on the endangered list as their amounts are rapidly diminishing. Letting them loose and returning them to the wild is not necessarily a safe option. (Mylot, 2007) In fact, zoo can be one of the educational studies for children and people who are interested with animals. Zoo is the only place that we can have an opportunity to see animal’s life really close and sometimes we can touch them. Zoos also provide lots of information about certain animals, children can have chance to get out of the classroom and learn so they can see natural beauty from different species of animals. Even children can see them from discovery channel but that’s really different if you see animal in real world, for an example, if you see crocodile, snake or shark in the movie, maybe you won’t afraid than you see the real one. According to Tudge, (1992, p.56) Zoos are the place where people can study animals and their habitat, even scientist don’t need to go
