In the beginning of the movie, Phil Connors was promptly introduced as a charming yet self-absorbed character who worked as a weatherman. Part of his job was to attend and report about the annual Groundhog Day festival at Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. After tediously reporting about the festival, Connors continued with the rest of his day. However, when it was time to leave Punxsutawney, a spontaneous blizzard caused him and his team, Larry and Rita, to stay and wait until the winter storm stopped. This situation greatly irritated Connors and impacted the rest of his day negatively.
Eventually, he woke up and soon discovered that it was Groundhog Day again and that all the events he already experienced were repeating. This confused him at first but he soon took advantage of this time loop by being selfish. For example, he stole money from the bank and hooked up with a woman. However, Connors ultimately became bored with his endeavors and even asked two locals, “What would you do if you were stuck in one place, and every day was exactly the same and nothing you

However, he finally noticed his imperfect behavior after courting Rita countless of times and failing ultimately. His first response to his boredom and failure to swoon Rita was to kill himself, but no matter how much he did, he woke up perfectly fine and the day repeated again. Fortunately, Phil found out that he was much better off if he just became kind and helped others. Some examples of this is when he befriended Larry, saved a kid falling from a tree, and fixed an elderly woman’s car. Connors also helped an old homeless man and found out that he was destined to die on Groundhog Day. He tried to save the man multiple times like performing CPR and nourishing him, but his efforts proved to be in vain. This taught him that there are some events and situations that he can never change or
As Tom grew older he began to take notice of his surroundings, the people around him and learnt how to see the light at the end of a very dark mental tunnel. Initially Tom didn’t want to come out of ‘the cave’, he wanted to be isolated from the rest of the world. Although as he got back into enjoying playing rugby at his school, Bennies, as well as running with his uncle Brendan, he began to become ‘Tom Brennan again’. When Tom started talking to the girl he liked, Chrissy, he became much more confident and starting to come out of the ‘dark tunnel’ he was seemingly trapped in. Not long after they started to go out with each other, with this completing Tom’s ‘comeback’ to being the person that he wanted to be. ‘…that was the morning Tom Brennan came back, forever.’ The only reason Tom Brennan went away was because of Daniel, his brother, who is not that much older than Tom, decided that driving while heavily intoxicated was a logical thing to

In Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, numerous references are made to different conditions of weather. Even the title of the novel suggests the storminess present in nearly the entire book. The often-changing weather serves to signify the characters’ personalities, as well as the changes that they go through during the course of their lives.
When it comes to literature, weather can be used in many different ways. It can symbolize theme, set the mood of the story, and even affect the plot. In Tangerine by Edward Bloor, the weather acts as a plot device and as a symbol.

Camus, the author of The Stranger, was a strong believer of absurdism, the belief that life is lived and existing with no meaning whatsoever, concluding that to find the meaning of human life will require an adsorb journey of negativity. In The Stranger, the protagonist Meursault, begins as an unemotional outsider, progressing through a stage of anger toward himself, and concludes with a stage of happiness and positivity towards the world. But throughout most of the time, he was in the first dull stage, living life as a constant boring routine, lacking communication and only at the very end realizing that life could be lived well, before his unfortunate execution due to past consequences. Groundhog Day shares a similar theme of that of The Stranger, in which the main protagonist, Phil Connors, progresses through three critical stages of life realization. He began as a selfish, egocentric news reporter, to a depressed and even suicidal stage, and concludes with a relieving extroverting attitude toward others, when the meaning of his life is realized. The movie’s plot plays a key role in this, when he repeats the second day of February over and over again from his same motel bedroom. As the loop continues, he edges off the boring routine life, re-examines it, and knows of his life priorities to benefit

It wasn't something that happened often. Once a month or so at most both Phil and Blaze turned into hyper children and didn't revert for some undisclosed period of time. Blaze even drooled on occasion which was just wrong because the Growlithe was older than him and should know how to control himself. He was never going to understand the pair's complete and utter obsession with Captain America. It didn't seem to help at all that they had worked with the man's Arcanine Sunny on occasion. Every time they managed to find something Captain America related that they didn't own the two turned into babbling fanboys.
