Philosophy Statement Jessica Baise
A career in healthcare has always been an interest of mine. Making a difference is someone?s health was a special aspect of my career choice. Dental Hygiene has been top of the list since I was a younger child. I was one of those children who loved going to the dentist. I was always intrigued by what was going on in the dentist office, whether it be the dentist, dental hygienist, or dental assistant. Becoming a young adult and noticing the appearance of others, the smile was and still is the first thing I notice on another individual. Everyone does not have the beautiful smile that society expects; so being the one to improve that and make a difference I feel is an awesome career choice.

Patient education has become unlimited to me since I have been in dental hygiene school, however, there needs to be time allowed. Working for a practice that feels like family with their patients is important. I want to build that one on one relationship with my patients over the years. Having the up to date equipment and instruments that you need to perform the best dental hygiene care is another thing I will seek while looking for employment. Practices should follow a budget, but being up to date on new technology to better treat your patients could be the growth of a practice. Team work is a must, I have worked in a practice that had excellent team work and another that did not. I strongly feel without team work success is difficult. There are many charities in the world that need our help, working for a dentist that gives back to charity would be a heartfelt reason to become a part of that practice. There are many people who just cannot afford dental work. After working for a dentist who did no free or reduced price work at all, then working for one who did tons of free work or made things possible for patients to afford was definitely an eye opener for myself. Sharing the blessings that I have gained is something I want to do each day of my life. Goals are something that each individual should have, however, they can be short term or long term. My short term goal over the next year; I would like to
My outside of school goals are to go outside more, save up money, and to chew more gum. I chose those going outside more because i remembered that when i was smaller i used to hang out with my friends outside but now we never do. My second goal is to save up some money to have just in case i need it for a particular reason and i want to use the money to buy some gum because i love gum. My last goal is to chew more gum i want to chew more gum because i always used to chew gum but now i never do so this semester i want to start chewing more gum but not in school.
Goals within my organisation look at where we would continue to strive towards. They are long term aims. They are stated in our professional development plan stating:-
One short-term goal that I have is to graduate from high school. I will need to do all of my work and do my best in all of my classes to accomplish that goal.
I believe that goals can give me strong motivations and guide me in a right way to pursue them. My short-term goal is to
I possess a motivation that can never fade. I know that anything I put my mind to I can conquer. I have developed a self confidence that can never be broken. And, I undertsand the importance of hardwork. I will utilize these strengths to not only complete the requirements to be the best Dental Assistant but exceed the expectations. I wanted a profession where I can improve the lives of others through their health. Not only will I be given that oppurtunity , I will give people a reason to
I made the decision to join the health care field based on my own desire, love of the people that live and thrive around me, and to be a role model for my daughter. I feel it is important to have a goal in life, and it is important to me to show my daughter the value of goals, and achieving them as well. I love meeting new people, and being able to lend a helping hand in any way I possibly can. What better way to help the general population then to have a profession in the health care industry.
A career in Dentistry is my main goal in life. I want to pursue a career in Dentistry for many reasons. Being a Dentist, you get to aid people and make them feel better about themselves. I have the personal qualities to be a Dentist and know that I would be great at the job. I would look forward to going to work every day. Dentistry contains many tools and oral practices that I am not familiar with. It would be awesome to get to be familiar with the lifestyle of a Dentist. Someday, I might even be able to live their lifestyle. Focusing in school is the main priority for all jobs. Dentistry also involves a diverse (longer) college route than most. This means that the academic requirements to be a Dentist are quite time consuming, but the
As a college student, it is important to research different professions in order to determine what career path to ultimately follow. Certainly, there are many types of jobs to take account of, and as a person with plenty of passions, finding a major has proved to be quite difficult. Nevertheless, the time has come to decide a career pathway and currently I am pursuing to become a registered dental hygienist. This career path is far from my art passions, but the search for a good occupation, and a feel-good job has brought me to the dental hygiene career path. In order to research this occupation even further, I will interview a dental hygienist and find out if this is the right career path for me.
I choose Dental Hygienist as a career for a variety of reasons such as education, interest, salary, schedule, and social interaction. Caring for others and their personals needs is something I am good at. I enjoy interacting with people of different ages and backgrounds, and with this career I am given the opportunity to do this every day. I have always been interested in teeth, and how oral care impacts the overall health, self-esteem, and confidence. A few years ago I got braces on my top and bottom teeth. Throughout the four years I was having my teeth treated I became even more fascinated with teeth. I met Cecile Nguyen who was the Dental Hygienist at the dental office I was going to at the time, she was always so kind, educative and very
Dental hygiene has had a significant impact on my life since I was a child. While most children would absolutely dread going to have their teeth cleaned, I was the kid always eager and ready to get to the dentist office. Throughout my journey of traveling through life, I have had several experiences that just called to me saying dental hygiene is definitely the career for me. Shadowing my own dental hygienists and having the privilege to be hands on and work with them was amazing. I enjoyed every minute from simply going over X-Rays to getting to know the patients personally.
The career I have chosen is Dental Hygiene. I am very interested in this career because I have the opportunity to teach people and educate them about the health of their mouth. Some of the things that dental hygienists do include taking x-rays, cleaning patients teeth, educating patients on the benefits of good oral hygiene, and treating periodontal diseases of the mouth. The importance of a healthy mouth truly affects the entire body. Plus everyone would enjoy a pretty smile and a good set of straight teeth.
Throughout my life people have commented that I should be in a profession that worked with people. Upon completing high school, I was not certain exactly what I wanted to do. I was interested in working with people but I determined that my dislike for blood and other unpleasant things dissuaded me from those type of careers. I chose Engineering as I though my interest in math and science would be a good fit. I found that what I enjoyed most were the projects, labs and working as a team. It was missing the direct involvement of helping people. I had often thought of dental hygiene as I enjoyed my visits to the dentist office and we have family friends that are both dentists and dental hygienists. I started to research what other options
My dream job is to be a dental hygienist and has been the same since I was a little girl. I have an interest in how health can affect one’s body. I would like to educate others how important it is to keep your body, including teeth, healthy and clean. To see people who have not cleaned their teeth in years compared to people who are able to see the dentist every six months, is a drastic difference. Some people may think it does not matter, but lack of dental care actually takes a toll on your health. I want to peruse this career to help other’s think. I will enjoy helping other people by showing them the importance of keeping their teeth cleaned. Contrary to popular belief, a tooth brush does not do all the work, that is also why it is so important to have a dentist to make sure you are getting the cleaning you need to stay healthy. Another reason why I want to pursue this career is I work best in an oriented atmosphere. Making sure people are comfortable with where they are and make sure the patients are taken care of. Creates a very friendly environment. That is why my passion is a dental hygienist.
I chose to commit myself to the nursing profession because I believe the nurse is the comma in every health care sentence. A comma may seem insignificant, or even invisible in a properly structured sentence, but its absence can be detrimental to the whole. The nurse links the art to the science of care, connecting two independent clauses creating one fluid idea. Nurses help connect the patient and the doctor; they translate the jargon to the civilian’s understanding. In a constantly changing environment, they elicit an essential pause, assisting each crucial transition. A carefully placed comma doesn’t just manage a checklist of ideas; it inadvertently leads them forward in motion. Nurses are ever present in the healthcare experience, beginning with
Nursing is a dynamic career field with endless opportunities associated with it. Working in this field allows those seeking a job in a variety of working positions. Whether it is working at the bedside of a patient, going into a community and teaching about disease prevention, or in researching clinical outcomes, nursing has a wide variety of options to get into for those who are interested in this career. However, with those opportunities and options available, there is more to nursing than just performing the job. Exploring reasons why a person chose nursing, as a career, is needed to give insight into this profession.
