“All that I’m after is a life full of laughter” (Life After You- Daughtry). Everyone has their own personal outlook on life. Some people feel like money and success bring them happiness, others feel like love is all they need. As Aristotle once said, "Happiness is believed to be the most desirable thing in the world..." (Aristotle) Everyone wants different things. I however, feel like you don’t need a lot to be happy in life, it’s the little things that count. Having your family and friends, and people who care about you, falling in love and having that person with whom you can disclose your trust with, helping other people and putting them before yourself, expressing your feelings and emotions, and living your life to the fullest every …show more content…
You cannot look for love, love finds you. It is unexpected and seems unrealistic, but once I encountered what love really was everything changed. All of a sudden nothing else seems to matter; your priorities, your thoughts, and your actions all become about this person. You want to do everything to make them happy, and if they are then you are to. Once you find someone who you can share anything with and who makes you feel as if you have everything in the world and you don't need anything else, thats love. That is what I think helps you reach your ultimate happiness, having that person who you can share your life with. To see other people pleased puts a smile on my face. I think everyone needs help getting through hard times and problems throughout their lives, and helping people overcome their obstacles helps me reach my ultimate happiness. Everyone goes through road blocks in their lives. Whether they are small and they don't know what boy to date, or big where they lost someone close to them, people need help making decision and going on in life. I enjoy listening to peoples problems, I enjoy putting them before myself and going out of my way to make sure the people I love and the people who need me are happy. This is what should bring happiness into everyones life. Knowing I just helped someone conquer a predicament or help them through a tough situation makes me feel like I mean something to the
Miranda is what I can describe as a regular, maybe even stereotypical, sixteen-year-old teenager. She goes to school, she mediates between best friends that are growing apart, she’s angry at her mother for limiting her from doing the things she wants to do. She worries about prom, boys, and studying for math tests. But of course, all that changes when the asteroid hits the moon. Miranda changes from defiant teen, sneaking out of the house to go for a swim in the pond and sulking over why her younger brother Jon gets all the good food, to understanding that she will do whatever she must to make sure that her family–even if it is just one of them–will survive.
Should people put the value of life into monetary value or should life be kept solely as an emotional quantity? People and societies throughout the ages have been trying to answer the problem of putting the value of life into terms of dollar bills. The ancient Egyptians buried their dead with all of their worldly belongings. They believed a person’s monetary worth on Earth was over, and they should take all of that earthly worth with them to the afterlife. Modern day Americans are different from the Egyptians. Today people believe that the families of the dead should be compensated for “their” loss.
Finally, an article written by Jessica Krampe entitled Does Money Really Make People Happier? says that happiness comes from making the right choices and acting on your passions. According to Krampe, the purpose of having wealth is to use it enhance the lives of the people you care about. Leaving a mark that represents your passion and values is what truly makes you happy. Furthermore, Krampe tells us that there are several ways on how to find happiness. First, you need to reflect on what you enjoy most about your life. It could either be a hobby or a talent that you love to do during your free time. Next, you should share your goals with those who are supportive of your dreams. Lastly, make the right choices and pursue the choice that will
238,900 miles away, the earth’s moon is one that is truly unique. With a given age of about 4.5 billion years the Earth serves a major role in real life and in the book Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. When catastrophe strikes, Earth takes a turn for the worst and great natural disasters occur. Thousands die, but there are a number of survivors. If there are survivors, how beneficial is the moon actually? What would happen if the moon had been destroyed? How necessary is it for human survival? The Moon, is a great benefactor to human survival because of the benefits earth gets from it.
Often having happiness is finding the key to life. Happiness is the ability to make one’s life full of joy and success. In the “Death of a Salesman”, “The Great Gatsby”, and “The Devil’s Advocate”, the protagonists in the movies seem to yearn for happiness and success in their lives. Although success may be the ultimate goal to achieving happiness, it does not always lead us there. There are many obstacles people have to overcome, and sometimes happiness is not enough for some people. It is why I believe more people should enjoy life and live it to the fullest extent as possible. Happiness allows people to live their lives and look at the good despite all their flaws and as they are happy they look back at what it took for them to achieve
Essentially, seeking happiness is necessary in life. We often hope to find happiness from other people, other things around us and forget that we can create it by ourselves. The novel “The happiness project” by Gretchen Rubin is sufficient evidence. The author states, “I am happy – but I’m not as happy as I should be.”(13) Then she started a project within a year to change her life and seek for a happier life. By making a list of things she has to do in the next twelve months, the author have done many things which affects her “Vitality” (1), her “Marriage” (38), her “Leisure” (112), her “Friendship” (141),etc. positively so that she can achieve her goal, which is a life full filed of happiness as she dreamed before. We can also do that. We know that if everyone of us set a goal and live purposely, we are all happy. However, we can be happier if we know how to change ourselves on the right way. We can make ourselves happy by doing simple things in our everyday life.
What is the meaning of life? Well known Greek philosphers such as Socrates and Plato believed that our purpose in this life was to gain knowledge in preparation for the next life. Other Philosophers such as Epicurus believed that pleasure is the main goal in life. After giving these ideas lots of thought, I have come to my own conclusion that the true meaning of life is far more complex than either of these; far too complex for any human to fully comprehend. In fact these two different philosophies are only part of the grand picture. If it were that easy for men to figure out our lives wouldn't be so messed up now. The meaning of life revolves around many different things. I
All through life, we experience various occasions when decision-making become necessary. A number of them present themselves in difficult forms and at crucial points. Most of the verdict we take will eventually figure and describe our track of lives. These are what we refer to as lessons of life. Choices never present themselves in an easy way. In some instance we are always forced to pay a price to achieve something. This implies that we are trading for an outcome we are seeking.
My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from which one can draw meaning, if indeed such meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned above all is that trying to put words to the meaning of life is a task of absolute absurdity. This is not to be confused with the idea that life has no meaning, for life certainly has meaning. However, there is no single meaning of life to be defined - life is different for us all. Therefore, rather than define life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so.
It is human nature to want and desire certain things out of life. For the most part, people want the same things. No one is the same as anyone else but we all share the fact that we want to make our lives as good as we possibly can. There are many ways to achieve happiness and everything that is wanted out of life can make you happy. Whatever a person’s truest desire may be, if they obtain that desire they obtain happiness. All that is desired falls under “What will make you happy in life?” We long to be happy, but what gets us there?
The abstract idea of life cannot be explained by such simple ideas as being animated, breathing, or speaking. Ordinary machines in this century can perform all of these basic functions. The quandary with defining death is not as abstract and elusive as that of life. The problem of defining life and death has plagued philosophers and the religious bodies for thousands of years for one reason; each philosophy or religion has tried to define the meaning of life and death from only their certain perspective. The seemingly appropriate approach to this problem would be to understand the ideas presented in various philosophies and religions and through this knowledge create a new definition for each idea of life
I can remember as a child always asking myself the “why” questions of life. What is the purpose of life? Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? Why do certain things happen? And is there really a God? I had always kept these questions to myself and eventually pushed them out of my mind altogether. I was raised in a Christian household and you just were not allowed to ask questions of that nature and doubt the faith. The world is the way it is because God made it that way and that is all there is to it. I was really excited to take this class because it would finally give me the opportunity to exercise my personal thoughts and beliefs. I have come to agree with Socrates that “the unexamined life is not
The consideration of the purpose of life has been ongoing and is never-ending throughout the course of history. The question itself has caused many people to generate many different strong views and opinions based on traditional, ideological backgrounds, and religious outlooks. The deliberation about the meaning of life will never end since there is not one reassuring basic, general answer. Instead, examine the question in another way, like, “What is my purpose in life?” The purpose of life varies from one person to another because of “free will.” While some people believe that for every human, life is called to some divine duty by God, everyone has a different drive that is waiting to be discovered within themselves, and people must set

Life as we know it could vanish within seconds. The next day is not promised to anyone that walks on this earth. As we live our everyday lives peacefully, we tend not to think what our mission or purpose in life is. Instead, we think what we must do for that to be a “successful” person. Despite this way of thinking, just think for a second. What makes life meaningful? What is life anyway? These questions dive right into the heart of the philosophical, psychological, and the biological aspects of life and what the true meaning of life is. This is a very arguable topic due to every person’s different perspective on life and what it means to them. In summary, I personally think that life is simply what you make of it and each person’s accomplishments has its own merit
