(Add Creative Title Here) by:Tijuan White “The First 48.” “James Patterson.”.” “Crime Watch Daily”. These shows have one thing in common, they are all murder mystery. I have always loved the thrill of a good murder mystery. So, I asked myself “Why not be in one.” That was when I came into the idea of my career choice. I had some questions to ask first,“What tools would you use to solve a crime scene?” “What would be the first thing you would do when you arrive at a crime scene?” and “What are the biggest challenges of this job?” All of these questions racked my brain. So, I said, “Why would I want to be a police officer besides all of the crime shows?” It was quite simple, I wanted to help out the community can solve cases using logic and …show more content…
It was about helping out the community whether it was from saving citizens cat from a tree or quieting a dispute between two neighbors in a civil and reasonable way. In 2012 an officer saw flames coming out from the top of a house. So, he did a life-saving act. He ran to the door and knocked with all his might. He ended up waking up the five civilians that were sleeping inside the house. He ended up saving them. He didn’t use force to just run and panic and break down the door and scream for help. He used reasoning and logic. He used logic by looking at the house and seeing that it was on fire and decided to do what most of us wouldn’t and ran towards the fire to help the citizens stuck inside. He helped out the community by that simple act of …show more content…
They should be able to work shifts since law enforcement is required twenty-four hours. As I interview my police officer and asked him about how many shifts was her required to take and he said: “it depends on what I am assigned to, sometimes it is as much as 16-18 hours and shift.” When I heard about this my reaction was “wow” are you serious 16-18 hours! That would be a lot of work! I began to think about how hard it must be for him, so I asked him what was his least favorite part about his job and he said, “It has got to be arresting people and putting them in jail, because there is a lot of good people and everyone has potential and most people throw it away.” When I thought about that I began to realize what he meant that, people spend most of their time doing wrong when they could make history. When I decided to ask him what he would think would be the best suited background for this job he said, “That would be hard to say, I personally think it would be to get a bachelor's degree and an few years at the police academy.” My first thought was that was going to easy, but when I researched how many years it would take to get an bachelor's degree it said it would take four-years to get a bachelors in college. I asked was there any other way beyond that, and he said, “No, that is what you have to do, I thought it was going to be hard to, but all the work I did payed off”. That

Starting In 1829, Sir Robert Peel began developing his theory of policing. These nine principles are as relevant today as they were in the 1800's. Peel established the Metropolitan Police when he served as Home Secretary of England. Since Sir Robert Peel introduced his principles of policing in the early 1800's, our country has continued to follow his ideas of effective policing. Community policing is based on Peel's concept of prevention.
Jessie, I really enjoyed your post as I have been a police officer for 18 years and it directly relates to my job. Yes, police departments across the country must strive to make their departments more diverse, especially with the rising Hispanic population. One main hindrance to this goal is the fact that many cities are doing away with pension programs and starting hybrid or 401K retirement plans. At my agency, the Knoxville Police Department, we are having problems getting any race to apply because of the new hybrid system. I would recommend offering ride-a-long and cadet programs to attract more minorities to the field. As far as keeping arrest numbers equal to the makeup of the population, there is no way to make this happen

Police officers are responsible for protecting people and property. Related job titles include Sheriffs and sheriffs deputy, detectives, and state police officers. However all of these job titles have similar duties for example they are all responsible for the protection of people and property. These job titles might be very similar but they do differ in many ways. Police officers patrol the city issuing citations keeping the peace and conduct traffic stops. Sheriff 's and deputies hold practically the same duties as police officers but do so for the entire county. A state police officer could also be addressed as a state trooper. These officers usually patrol highways and issue citations and are frequently called for comprehensive law enforcement services. Detective is the title that differs from the others the most. Detectives aren 't in uniform. They investigate crime scenes and find evidence for criminal cases. Detectives conduct interviews, observe activities of suspects, and also participate in raids. Although a normal police officer does not earn as much income as related titles it is still a very demanding and dangerous job.
