Didn’t Elvis say it best when ever he said, “Wise men say only fools rush into love”. This idea is expressed throughout the world because so many mistakes are made whenever people rush into love. It seems as though love has a powerful hold on people and they just can’t help what they do once they are in love. It is as if they are almost blind to everything else around them, and also blind to the consequences that might come from their choices that they make. Teenagers seem to be more at risk for such frivolous love due to the fact they have lived such ephemeral lives. Since teen brains are not fully developed it can lead to fickle or poor decision making, and sometimes leads to making choices that result in teen pregnancy. Poor decision …show more content…
Romeo and Juliet definitely believed that they were ready for much more than they were capable of handling. Now knowing when teen’s minds actually are developed we can see why Juliet made so many poor mistakes. One example of a poor choice by Juliet was actually agreeing to go along with the plan that Friar Lawrence concocted. ( Act 4. Scene 3. Line 58.) Another piece of evidence of being blind to love is when she falls for a young man, Romeo, that she has known for like a short amount of time. ( Act 1. Scene 5. Line 108.) The fact that Romeo’s brain was underdeveloped could show us why he was drawn to such a younger girl. Juliet’s mother tells us that she is only 13 when they were discussing the idea of marriage.(Act 1.Scene 3. line 13.) Juliet’s poor choices and the under developement of the teen brain shows the reader why teen love is futile and …show more content…
Teen pregnancy is is very tough because many teens are not mentally ready to be a parents. According to nlm.nih.gov, ‘’Most teenage girls [do not] plan to get pregnant, but many do.’’ (teen pregnancy 1) In the case of Romeo and Juliet, there would be many dissents and problems because Juliet is only thirteen and Romeo and Juliet’s parents hate each other. Teen love is not only not mentally auspicious, but is also physically harmful because there is many health risks. Also on nlm.nih.gov it says,’’ Teen pregnancies carry extra health risks to both the mother and the baby.’’(teen pregnancy 1) These risks can hurt both the baby and the mother. If Romeo and Juliet’s love were to continued it probably would have lead to teen pregnancy. This is so because Juliet’s nurse once told her to throw away her virginity. (Act 1. Scene 3.) Teen pregnancy is a reason teen love causes rigor and is
Making rash decisions has led to many consequences over the course of history. For example, the U.S. instating Japanese internment right after the bombing of pearl harbor. However acting out of emotion and quickly coming to a conclusion instead of thinking things through has more often than not led to a negative result for any one person. In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare tells the tale of two star crossed lovers whose rash decisions ultimately lead to their demise. It is through these decisions Shakespeare suggests that acting out of emotion instead of using reason can create many consequences which can affect people’s lives in a negative way. He shows its effects through two different events, the marriage between Romeo and Juliet, and the fight between Mercutio and Tybalt and Romeo.
Hormones sure are a mischievous system in a teen’s brain when it comes to decision making. Without them, Romeo and Juliet may have stayed alive and wouldn’t be so heartbroken over losing each other. They might not have ever fell in love if it was not for their hormones. This would have prevented many issues. But, because teens do have hormones, it is very important to teach them responsible
What would the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet be if Romeo and Juliet were only a few ages older and not teens? Well, there are a conglomerate of possibilities starting with their impulse control, if Romeo and Juliet met when they were, at the very least, twenty-five they may have not acted as impulsive as they did. Maybe Romeo wouldn’t have kissed Juliet during their first meeting and instead would have courted her. Or maybe if Romeo didn’t propose on their second meeting they could have had a long marriage that united their families, and maybe if Romeo didn’t slay Tybalt he wouldn’t have been banished and wouldn’t have brought about his own demise. As teenagers the two star-crossed lovers had a very logical reason as to why they acted the
Teenagers brains aren’t fully developed during their teenage years, and this partially explains why Romeo made juvenile and naive decisions throughout Romeo and Juliet. In an article by David Dobbs, he states, “This process of maturation, once thought to be largely finished by elementary school, continues throughout adolescence.” This quote is relevant because it may have a say in the explanation of Romeo’s irrational decisions that I am about to discuss disregarding his fate. For example, in Act 3 Scene 1, Romeo states, “Now Tybalt, take the villain back again, either Thou, or both must go with him.” Romeo seeks revenge on Tybalt after Tybalt killed Mercutio.
In the occurrence in which two people believe that they are in love, they are prone to lose their common sense and and judgement, leading them to disregard and shut out their loved ones and their advice. In the excerpt from “Romeo and Juliet,” written by WIlliam Shakespeare, about two star-crossed lovers set in the 1300’s. In act 2 scene 2, Romeo climbs over the Capulet’s wall to get to Juliet, and finds her exclaiming her love for him and hatred of the feud between their families. While blinded by “love” people make irrational decisions based off of what is truly just infatuation. Juliet claims Romeo will be killed if seen by her family and he responds with, “My life were better ended by their hate than death prorogued, wanting of thy love,”
Quick, sudden and rushed decisions are often made in the vital crossroads of our lives. Pressure can cause individuals to feel a sense of paranoia and stress. Rash by definition is displaying or proceeding from a lack of careful consideration of the possible consequences of an action. Often times individuals get caught on the moment and don't greatly think the ought their decisions. Ironically, the hastiest decisions are often made in the most critical moments of our lives. Humans are not very strong mentally when put to pressure. Which any focus on a specific isolated individual the task at hand multiplies in difficulty. Mistakes can differ from missing a free throw at a basketball game to marrying someone you hardly know while intoxicated. Many things can add to panicked decisions. In Shakespeare's classical tragedy Romeo and Juliet a surplus of hasty decisions are made throughout the play.
Looking around a high school classroom and studying the faces of the students. Wondering about the choices they have made, universal choices that will permanently affect them and their future, like ripples on the water of a usually still lake. Contemplating where they would be if previous decisions had been decided in a different manner, curious where and who they would be. The decisions that they have previously made will continue to ripple and affect their lives. It truthfully really leaves a person wondering why humans are unable to base decisions off of other people’s mistakes whether fictional or real.
In Romeo and Juliet there are a few decisions and motivations that have impacted the story in a big way, but there are only three decisions that have been chosen that are some of the biggest decisions. The decisions include when Romeo killed Tybalt, Romeo and Juliet get married without anyone knowing, and Romeo and Juliet kill themselves at the end of the story. All of these decisions had motivations for doing them and they had a big impact on the story. It was a big decision when Romeo killed Tybalt because it got him banished. The prince said that if they find Romeo then they will kill him, but if they do not find him then they will let him go.
Benjamin Franklin once said that “great haste makes great waste.” The play “Romeo and Juliet” by Shakespeare supports this idea. “Romeo and Juliet” is a story about two young people from rival families who meet at a party, fall in love, and end up getting married. When Romeo is banished from their hometown, Verona, and Juliet’s family, the Capulets, want Juliet to marry a man named Paris because they did not know about Juliet’s marriage to Romeo, Juliet uses a potion that makes her appear dead and hearing about this and thinking she actually is dead, Romeo kills himself, and as a result, Juliet kills herself too. In the play, Shakespeare uses characterization and metaphor to suggest that adolescents do not think about the decisions they make, and these hasty decisions can lead to horrible situations.
Making good decisions are a good habit to have. In the books or stories we have read, the characters can make good choices or bad choices. Their decisions can affect themselves, or others around them. You can learn from these mistakes that you make in your lifetime. If you make the wrong decision, you can face some hard obstacles to overcome.
The play “Romeo and Juliet” is about a series of bad decisions and tragic events that lead up to the untimely death of the two main characters, Romeo and Juliet. There are many people responsible for their deaths, but the character who had the most impact on their deaths was Rosaline.
Shakespeare’s message within the balcony scene about people making decisions since they feel everything is against them because they are in love. Act 2 Scene 2 is an excerpt from the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. In this scene, Romeo finds his way to Juliet’s bedroom balcony after the party. While he is there Juliet is on the balcony talking to herself about their situation. Romeo then joins her on the balcony. When people are in love and feel it is them against everything else they make crazy, unwise, and quick decisions. While Juliet is out on the balcony, she speaks of changing her name, “Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.” (Romeo and Juliet. 2.2
In the play of Romeo and Juliet, it is about two young lovers falling in love. At first sight they fell in love. The lovers only took one day to get married, when in modern day life this would never happen. Almost every time people only get married after months even years. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, age plays a vital role because, due to there quick decisions and foolishness it determines the outcome of the play.
Like the story, “Romeo & Juliet” by Shakespeare, his amazing poetry and imagination showed how two families had to pick the perfect one for their child. But their children married the ones their parents hated, and in the end, their decisions ended their lives. But my first-hour English class decided to do a little experiment with our parent’s opinion compared to ours on their opinion for our future Romeo/Juliet. Do some of us youth know are guardian's very well?
Occasionally everyone makes atrocious decisions, usually these choices do not cause an enormous negative impact on their future. In the classic Romeo and Juliet, the outcome of the characters’ demise is a result of their fast pace- decisions, their ignorance/assumptions, and their lack of ability in accepting responsibility.
