Lately, the issue of social networking has generated a lot of debate. Some people argue for drawbacks of social networking, claiming it limits social interactions. Others believe that these networks are beneficial, arguing that it creates greater interaction and increased information. The two opposing passages highlight the importance of this issue, however, the passage that argues it creates greater interaction and increased information is more credible, since it is much better-supported with forceful vocabulary, logical reasoning, and emotional appeals.
The primary reason why the position favoring the benefits of social networking is better-supported is that the writer used forceful vocabulary. At the end of the second paragraph, the writer states “The great promise of Internet socialization is that congregation is no longer at the mercy of geography.” This word choice is instantly adding weight and importance to the argument. Also, this position of argument is much more convincing due to its impactful

First, the writer starts an argument by addressing the benefits of the internet, and states “the Internet opens up a new world of like-minded individuals”. The writer then logically moves from broad to specific detail backing up the thesis, such as stated the second paragraph, “Our shared interest, rather than where our bodies happen to live, is what brings us together.” The author is using a logical reasoning to present its argument in a cohesive, persuasive manner. However, in the fifth paragraph, the author states “It is no coincidence that online communities are the single most fertile recruiting ground for terrorism”. Comparatively, this negative argument is unconvincing because the writer did not provide any specific supporting evidence, or built main points in logical
Perhaps, the worst quote on positivity that I have ever heard was from the German scientist, Max Planck: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” According to this philosophy, we only need to visualize success in order to achieve it. This is just another claim amidst a growing plague of positivity. Today, we witness an overload of positive thinking, in which self-help books, lectures, and workshops claim that happiness begins with a positive outlook. Undoubtedly, the conclusion to this problem is not a shift towards self-hate, but rather a dose of reality, of recognizing the possibility of a negative outcome, and of the acceptance that not everything, all the time, will be perfect. Ultimately, positivity has a negative side.
In the article "Social Media as Community", Keith Hampton argues that social media users are more likely to form stronger connections with confidants than the average American. Hampton acknowledges that many people in today's society are seeing the negative effects of social media, but he claims that the positive effect of building a powerful community outweighs those negative effects. Keith Hampton effectively persuades the readers of his opinion by using an informal tone, statistics, and the rhetorical triangle.
In the third text “Social networking benefits validated”, tell us about that social network is a very important thing and it has some useful skills in the people´s future. We hear about how the new digital world open many doors and gives the individual people many different opportunities.
Social media is different than anything the world has ever seen. It allows us to connect with anyone at any time at the tips of our fingers. We can be friends with people that we could have never connected with otherwise and see deeper into people’s lives than ever before. Through social media we can know what people are doing at any given time. It is possible to be friends with celebrities or even friends with your enemies. Social media can even become a dating platform for some individuals. However, all of these connections that are made are on a superficial level. Through the arguments of Levin, Putnam and Hayes I will argue that although the original goal of social media was to bring communities together in reality it is actually tearing
There are a plethora of reasons why pop and soft-drinks are bad for personal health as well as the environment. Never the less there have been an increase of obesity cases and children with diabetes caused solely by the consumption of sugar filled beverages. The consumption of soft-drinks and other carbonated beverages have multiple negative effects, and I want to briefly cover ten or so reason as to why soda is hazardous to our bodies as well as some negative effects that drinking soda on a daily basis has on the body.

The accessibility of the new information technology has led that social structures change, and with it the ways of relating to others. With this process of change has created what is known as "virtual communities", Rheingold defined the virtual communities as a group of social aggregates which arises from internet when a group of people create public discussions long enough to create networks of personal relationships in cyberspace. (Rheingold, 1993, The Virtual Community,). Thus individuals create new social networks where they can exchange information anytime, anywhere, depending on their needs and desires. Issues such as that new information technologies can interfere interpersonal relationships are increasingly questioned by several studies that analyze the impact positive and negative to the use and abuse leads. The aim of this essay is to discuss the pros and cons of the effects that are producing social networks.
Social networks were made for communication, overcoming barriers like distance; however, it could also be that it is detrimental to communication and reduces basic communication skills. Trends indicate that 47 percent of American adults use a social network. A national survey in 2009 found that 73 percent of online teenagers use social network sites, which is an increase from 55 percent three years earlier. It’s no wonder our real world social lives are seeing some changes. We once used to communicate with a single person by telephone or letter; writing has now become a very social way of communicating although it was once a solitary activity.
Social network has taken over my communication by decreasing my social skills with others. However, social media has helped me connect with others for planning social outings, school projects, and reaching out to long lost friends and family. It is important to know how has social networking affects our social lives. My approach towards my research topic is to discover how social networking increases and decreases
Everyone has experiences with that one person who drags you down and eventually rubs off their negative perspectives and attitudes on you. When you come home, your parents have noticed the way you are talking to them has changed, not for the good. In all age groups, negativity impacts your physical health and will decrease your lifespan; therefore, we need to take steps to destress with positivity. Creating a more positive atmosphere starts with ridding of a negative bias, broadening your perspectives of the world, and building yourself up.

“Like all revolutions, the social networking revolution is accompanied by concerns and questions about whether the changes have wrought something better or something worse.” (Szumski and Karson ¶ 4) The social networking revolution has come a long way in its accessibility and effectiveness and has become a great resource for many people. But with its benefits come more serious downfalls that need to be acknowledged and dealt with. While social networking can be used as a clear, accessible source, for communication, social networking also has several negative effects on a person in ways such as socially, mentally, and physically; by limiting internet time, restricting the accessibility, and monitoring what kids are doing, social networking
I'd like to point out that social networks have positive and negative effects on interpersonal relationships. They're a large part of our lives which affect work, love, and our identities. They ease our boredom, reconnect us to friends and family, and ensure people are following the law. We can use these networks in our everyday lives, but we have to know when to draw the line. Social networks are defining a new meaning of friendship more and more every day, but the question is: are we networking ourselves to
