The conference I attended was the Association of Positive Behavior Support (APBS) annual International Conference on Positive Behavior Support (PBS). APBS is an international organization that is focusing its research on positive behavior support. This association works with a variety of members from all different fields that are interested in PBS. Their mission is to reduce negative behavior by creating and devolving a system that supports and implements positive behavior. The conference was two full days, I had the opportunity to attend and choose from at least 16 different sessions for each break out session. Sessions were presented by professionals, administrators, teachers, consumers, researchers, trainers and parents, that are …show more content…
The location was very central in that it was very accessible for all. It was good to have all the sessions in one location. The hotel was more than capable of handling the amount on sessions and the amount of people attending. It was very easy to get around the hotel and the time given between each session was more than enough to make it on time to the next. Each presenter provided a variety of information and resources to support their sessions. It was very easy to follow the PowerPoint presentations with it readily available on tablets. This was another great experience; the conference provided free Wi-Fi for all the attendees. Since we were visiting from Canada this was an essential to download all the resources provided. I was very impressed with the phone app that was created for the conference. The app contained sessions, locations, maps, and resources. A very user-friendly app allowed you to choose your sessions, and add to your personal calendar and see the resources that would be available during the session. It was easy to download the PowerPoint presentations and have the ready for the sessions. This app also let you communicate and create networks with other teachers attending the same sessions. It was very beneficial in creating contacts with others that were working on the same goals as yourself. We were able to exchange information and share our success and challenges with
As part of my HNC Social Care I have been asked to complete an extended reflective account about an incident/ pattern of behaviour at my placement for the subject understanding and supporting behaviour. This assessment has to be handed in on the 21st of May 2013. Due to the confidentiality of the young people at Rathbone and the Data Protection Act 1998 I will refer to the particular young person who is involved in the incident as Jack.
One aspect that will be discussed in this particular Eco-map will be the positive reinforcement that is received from being a father. The psychology characteristics are positive and emotionally solid. Dennis Jr. is his name and we have an outstanding relationship. Therefore, my thoughts toward my son are nothing less than love and satisfaction. Brianna Smith is my wife, we currently are not living together. The psychological stand point for this family member would be emotionally distressed. We have communication issues which leads to a negative thought process. Furthermore, we still have a relationship and will continue to work hard at being great parents. In addition, my daughter is six months old and we have a bonding relationship.
We received each other well as a whole, although to refer to Jung’s chapter seven, “there is much visiting but they do not give one another’s souls a visit.” This statement really describes our conference. Simply due to the fact that we don't know each other very well and we don't have a sense of trust towards one another to dive into soul issues. Yet, each member would wait patiently and let the next person speak while some thoughtful insights were shared along with the person’s heartfelt thoughts. Everyone was included in the conversation and engaged with each other. After hearing what was shared by each person, some of the answers shocked me. Yet, these unexpected answers drew us together as a group because we often shared common struggles and feelings. Our commonalities were found in each other’s testimonies. We often went through similar emotions during our darkest times. While our experiences and beliefs differed
To start I want to share about how this experience was actually enjoyable and if I had the opportunity I would possibly attend another one or one of a similar nature. My first expectation was that this was going to be an event where a bunch of adults sat around and asked each other questions about how times have changed and how it has affected certain groups. To my surprise when I get there I realized that the audience was a mix of adults who were there to strengthen their understanding of what social justice is and how it is happen in today’s society. There were also a decent amount of college kids there as well. There were some who were there representing an organization that they were part of or some even were just there to have their voice heard.
As a 3rd year student, I was in the verge to finish my proposal. In this sense, the conference exceed my expectations. I review all my text and approach and it helped me a lot. I made ma dissertation more clear and concise. Due to the insights, I re-though all my strategy to conduct the research.
Encouraging behavior is a way for an organization to get the public to do something, Discouraging behavior is a way for an organization to get the public to stop doing something or prevent them from doing something. An example of discouraging behavior is the MADD organization. They are a group who wishes to inform the public on the dangers of drunk driving and driving while under the influence of drugs in hopes to stop it from happening. When trying to discourage behavior an organization might wish to send out press releases, ,make PSAs, or try to get news media coverage. This attempts to show the public the dangers that these behaviors have on themselves or on others and hopefully is enough to discourage this behavior by the public. Sentimental
Today I attended the Student Education Association Conference opening with the keynote speaker Lori Thompson and the Autism Spectrum, Interviewing 101 with Steve Horrell, and Block to First Year Teaching Q&A with Sarah Saenz, Elizabeth Parker, Montana Rice, & MaryBeth Stewart. I learned a lot throughout the day and got to ask all the questions that went unanswered or I never thought of. Overall, I found this conference informational and put on perfectly by those who put the time in to make in all happen.
I have listed a few training topics I would like to be involved in developing/conducting presentations/training sessions for our providers and or families.
The model of behavior change, better known as the stages of change, features six stages: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance and termination (Wood& Cato,2012). When working with a client counselors must help the client successfully work through all six stages in order for the client to be considered “fixed”. However, when working with a client it is not unusual for the client to be in different stages for different problems or concerns. When working through the six states of changes counselors utilize the four principles of change which are express empathy, developing discrepancy, roll with resistance and support self-efficacy (Wood& Cato,2012). In the following scenario I will be demonstrating the use of the four
I might have used a little Positive Therapy in the sense that when a person feels anxious, the anxiety almost makes the individual notice an important moment and that will give the client a chance to act properly. For example, if a professor is about to begin teaching a class on theories it would be understandable if that professor was slightly anxious. Since, the professor is going to influence future counselors who will in the future go in to the workforce and begin to treat clients.
Second, make a wise choice. At the moment I’m preparing to head off to the New England Pharmacist’s Convention. This is one I don’t miss. I pick it because the venue is comfortable, the location is accessible (this year at Foxwood’s Resort Casino), the price is reasonable and the topics are diverse enough to keep my interest. There are generally many such conferences going on each year. But pick one based on your interests, the speakers and the value it will have to your career…not by the price and location.
A lot of things had changed since my last conference. The location, the dais, the delegates and the topic. Although last night it wasn’t even a real conference at all, but it was enough for me
Everyone remembers Einstein for his discoveries in the field of physics, Mother Teresa of her generous deeds and missionary work for others, and the Wrights Brothers for being aviation pioneers. Everybody wants their community to remember their positive influence they had, whether it be from their attitude, their contributions, or simply by the kind of person they were. It is my hope that I am remembered by my community for being kind to others and for my positive involvement.
As identified in the scripture Proverbs 23:7, what a person believes to be true in his mind and heart, becomes their truth. Dr. Webb informed me that although she really enjoys working with children behavioral issues. The main goal, of course, is to replace negative behaviors with positive ones to improve functioning in the family and in the community. I think that Dr. Webb does a job of doing this with the children that she sees daily.
Even though days prior, there was an extensive PowerPoint sent out. The PowerPoint entailed what the meeting would be going over that day. A PowerPoint can only provide so much going to the meeting is a learning experience of its own. In hindsight, this Association for Talent Development was a good choice for being the first professional meeting I ever attended. If I go back years from now, I can guarantee that I will get the same
