Adolf Hitler, most widely known as the orchestrator of the Holocaust during World War II committed genocide across the nation, but his reasons for this mass murdering come down to one point; jealousy. As a young man Hitler had a yearning to succeed at anything he set his mind on, and being rejected by art academy’s and living as a homeless man for a part of his life began his envy for others who had succeeded, unlike himself. While Hitler was volunteering for the German army in World War I, he was temporarily blinded due to a gas attack and during this period he claimed to have received his calling, “He was to liberate Germany and make it free from what he saw as the ever-present source of decay within German racial purity; the Jew” (Dufner 15). From his point of view Jews were all he could see, and it disgusted him, so in order for him to fulfill what he believed he was meant to do, he must rid of Jews across Germany. The novel Night by Elie Wiesel and Adolf Hitler are both complex and unimaginable, but they both express belief and their own knowledge of the same situation but from different point of views. Adolf Hitler, urged by his self-hatred began his own plan for the extermination of Jews and even as far as world domination.

Hitler, a German, viewed Jews as his enemies because he believed that the Jews were the cause of the first World War, which killed over 100,000 Germans. From the time period of 1933-1945, the Jewish community experienced massive genocide from the attack of the Nazis that were in favor of Hitler. In the novel Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie’s experience in Auschwitz changes his mindset because the German culture influences him to question his belief of the Jewish religion through torturous beatings creating mental scars.

Through the course of his captivity as number A-7713, Wiesel struggled to maintain his humanity and caring nature while surrounded by starving Jews who were constantly being reduced to nothing more than beasts, going so far as to kill their own family for a scrap of bread. The Nazis dehumanized the Jews through oppression and fear tactics, which gave Hitler his greatest reward over the course of the Second World War: seeing every last Jew dead or suffering and inflicting terror on those who dared to oppose the Third Reich.

Government is the political direction and control exercised over the actions of the members, citizens, and inhabitants of communities, societies, and states. While documents have been written to help the leaders of our country, there is constant debate over what changes need to be made. Some believe that the country is falling apart while others think minor adjustments need to be made. The separation of church and state is also a topic of debate. The question of what needs to be changed and where religion falls in all of this are always questions on the table, but what I know for certain is that the government always has room for growth.

What is Government? Well, if you asked many people around some would simply say people who control the city, state, or country. When others would say a system where people control certain issues, policies, and economic problems. Elie Wiesel, the author of Night, was a victim of the Holocaust. In Night, Elie Wiesel tells his story of his one year experience in the Holocaust. From the moment, Elie entered Auschwitz, a concentration camp, he witnessed infants being used as target practice and people being tossed into flames. Elie lost his entire family during the Holocaust. His father's last breath used to plead his name. He had to endure all of that pain plus more.
