The book “The Power Of Six” is the second book in the Lorien Legacies by Pittacus (Pitta - kus) Lore. The book is the nine children (Garde) and their guardians (Cépan (Sapon)) who escaped on a ship to Earth after their planet, Lorien, was destroyed by their rivals, the Mogadorians. With a charm that stops the Mogadorians from killing the Gardes out out of order. When they arrived at Earth they split up, so each Garde and Cépan can have a better chance of survival.
All the Gardes develop powers called legacies all of them develop Telekinesis (ability to move things without touching it) and Enhancements (Extra powers compared to humans, ex. Faster, stronger, and more) , but also each Garde develops different powers too that helped him fight
I read a book that is called Counting By 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan and it’s a realistic fiction. it's about a girl named willow she is adopted, she's different from all of the other people in the school maybe because she skipped a grade, and both of her parent’s passed away. She starts from when the police told her the news and then starts from the beginning telling her story and we find out different things about willow like how she likes learning about medical things and how she skipped a grade. But when it comes back to the present she finds that she is going to have to become strong and that there will be ups and downs.
The life of a dominant king who got lost in the things of the world, resulted in him losing focus on his destiny through power and time. It is a battle between man and the natural world he faced. Percy Shelley’s poem, Ozymandias, demonstrates that no matter the position one holds, in time, power can be arrogant and ruling, but cannot ultimately last for an eternity.
group. The book focuses primarily on one boy and his brother who started the group, Knud and
Power had a huge part on how people were treated back in the times of slavery. In the novel Kindred by Octavia E. Butler, an African-American woman named Dana traveled between the 1800s and the present to help her great-grandfather throughout his life while also trying to shape him into a better person in the racist society that he was in. One of the things she noticed was how power could dictate how people lived their lives, especially since slavery was prevalent in the area her great grandfather, Rufus Weylin, lived in. Dana, Rufus, and Alice were all characters whose power affected how their lives turned out and the choices that they made.
I read the book “Scorpion Shards” that was written by Neal Shusterman. This book or plot is really fast pace, unique, and keeps you thinking and on the edge of your seat for the entire book. You never really know how the characters make their decisions or how they’re going to end up at the end. In this book six teens suffer from supernatural tragedies or powers that were caused by a supernova sixteen light-years away that eliminated the night sky. Dillon, Deanna, Winston, Tori, Michael, and Lourdes are the six teenagers that were affected by the supernova. These six have never met each other before, but they all unexplainably meet each other.
Chapter 6, “Surely Doomed”, is about Charlie, a little boy no more than fourteen arrested and tried as an adult. He was arrested for the murder of his mother’s abusive boyfriend,
This is book number 2 in The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Now you have probably seen the movie but you should read the book also so that you can get a unique view into the universe of C.S. Lewis. You can also read the book together with your children so that you and your children are together about this great book. This will give you a lot of opportunity to be the adult and teach your children about more complex matters in life.
In Hrotswitha’s plays, there was a common theme of power and how it impacted the characters in her stories. Both in Callimachus and Dulcitius, she revealed the importance of faith and believing in the power of God. The most prominent idea that she depicted was the powers of gender and coercion. By the end of the plays, the three sisters, Drusiana, and Callimachus were no longer subjected to the trials of the devil, men, status, or wealth because they realized that God was the ruler of all.
The founding fathers of the United States of America created the Constitution with the purpose of satisfying the colonists who were afraid of giving total power to the government. The Constitution protects the rights of the citizens by dividing the government into three branches.
In “Congress and the Quest for Power” by Lawrence Dodd (1977), politicians enter Congress with the sole incentive to obtain power for their own arbitrary reasons. However, this power requires reelection; by being reelected, they are proving that are conforming to society's traditions, creating an air of personal equitableness, and helping themselves gain the the necessary skills that justify the exercise of power. The member of Congress soon develops an incumbent advantage and is no longer afraid of losing his position, whichever one it may be. As the hunt for power and authority continues, he moves through different phases that bring him closer and closer to the end of his goal. For example, the politician will gather up support from the electoral base by doing casework and joining housekeeping committees and legislative and committees that have to do with their district’s needs. If he finds himself successful, he will move on to serving primary committees such as those dealing with commerce, education, and labor. He becomes a legislator and focuses on national concerns rather than the more local ones, gaining power as he does so. If the Congressman is able to get this far in
As this book has several references, the most important connection I found in the book was, when Willowdean had to deal with her Aunt’s death. Willowdean’s Aunt, Lucy, had passed away by the cause of a heart-attack. She was about 300 pounds at the age of thirty. Willowdean loved her Aunt dearly, and it was difficult for her to push through that phase. This specific part of the book relates to another book I’ve read, called “The One,” by Kiera Cass. This book is about a country name Illéa, with thirty-five different provinces, and eight casts. A Selection between thirty-five different girls, from all the differents states of Illéa was held to determine to new Queen. America Singer, a fortunate girl from the fifth cast, was chosen
The book Crossed, by Ally Condie, was about Cassia and Ky's journey to find "The Rising". This book was an awkward transitional book that I painfully pushed through to be able to read the next edition. It started where the previous book left off, the Society placed the two in different places, and following that, the book quickly escalated in terms of violence. From what started as a sappy romance novel (which in my opinion, was quite enjoyable for just some light reading), turned into a "fight for your life" adventure across the canyon to find the rebellion. Ky travels to a camp as a decoy villager with other boys that are even much younger than he is in the Outer Provinces. The cruel society has just sent the boys there to die from the enemy shootings that happen frequently. Ky
In this novel there are many families who end up getting torn apart from each
Healing factor: Vitas is able to heal and recover from injuries such as gunshots, gashes, broken bones, stabbing wounds, burns, and bite wounds. The speed of regeneration is usually dependent on how severe his injury is. Some injuries cannot be healed with this power; however, instead he must rest just like a human. Flight: Vitas has the potential to fly - he just has to learn how to.
The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore is the second book in this series which began with "I Am Number Four." This is a classic story of good fighting against evil, but on a galactic scale. It tells the unbelievable journey of ten alien Lorien children (called Garde) hidden from ferocious alien hunters called Mogadorians, who are determined to eliminate this special race from growing up. The Mogadorians have used up their own planetary resources and are now expanding outward, seeking more resources to sustain them. Lorien, the closest planet is their first target. In an effort to save the Lorien race, nine children entrusted with powers of the elders (called Legacies) are sent away in the hopes that when their Legacies develop, they will be strong
