There are many different mental illnesses and ailments and just as many medications to treat them. The problem is that sometimes the medications are not correct for your disorders due to similar symptoms. This leads to problems with the patients who need help, but the patients are not getting the right medications and treatment they need. The process of getting a prescription medication is as follows: You get your evaluation, you get your results, you are then prescribed a medication and trialed it for 30 days. This is a generalized process but it is solid enough. So we have no problems with the process as it seems cut and dry, but it is the medications that you need to look for. An example from my life, my girlfriends mom was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. So she got evaluated, got the results saying she has bipolar disorder, then given her medication. She had to trial many medications but ended up with seroquel. This medication was going well, but the problem is that was the medication made her sleep eat. There are times where severe cases of mental illness are neglected by doctors. When I was younger, I would be dragged to work by my mom. She distributed pills to mainly schizophrenic patients. Her job was to make sure that they would take them as much as they should. The thing about Schizophrenia is that the illness itself can make you stop taking medications. You can become paranoid, And the voices in your head will tell you that your meds are poison. Or that the doctors are tricking you. So the ailment itself is a tough adversary to deal with. But my mom was not a nurse. Or anyone that should be holding medications. I was curious all this time why she had the meds. Eventually she said that sometimes the doctors just do not care
