There have been many influential presidents during the history of our nation. A few examples include George Washington who led our country through the revolutionary war and our nation’s first president. There was also Abraham Lincoln who led us through the Civil War. However our most influential president is Franklin D. Roosevelt. During Franklin Roosevelt’s years in the oval office he would lead our country through one of the toughest times during the 20th century enduring the great depression and World War II. The government of the United States is bought and sold like stocks. Billionaires and corporations have poured an incomprehensible amount of money into thousands of political campaigns. According to opensecrets.org, the average cost to win a senate race is now $11,474,362. For the 2016 presidential race alone the Koch brothers plan on spending $889 million. It is nearly impossible to win an election without the support of billionaires and corporations. The impact that money has on elections has spiraled of control. A political revolution to fix the power the wealthy have in politics is already happening. Senator Bernie Sanders is the one leading this revolution. Even without the revolutionary policies, Sanders would set in place to end the American Oligarchy his campaign is still important. Sanders leading by example and showing the country that it is possible to run a campaign without support from the elite. The people have come to have faith in his views on American politics. He stands strong without the millions of dollars all the other wealthy candidates have. Bernie Sanders has many of America’s support that volunteer to help his views be known in 47 states when he has no staff members to pay for. Sanders already impacted many people who believe this revolution will change America for the better of all people. The greatest weapon in America is not wealth and power. After World War II, the American psyche became permanently stained with new ideas. During this time period, the American government actively sought to change the way the American people thought. The support of the American public was crucial to the success of the war effort. Many ideas introduced during this point of time consisted of new roles of certain people groups in American society. Women and minority groups would prove themselves in the workplace, millions of citizens would be discriminated against, and social barriers would be broken and assembled. Even though World War II took place in Europe and the Pacific, it made lasting social changes that can still be seen in America.

Franklin D. Roosevelt is proclaimed to be the first modern president of the United States. In fact, after a closer look, one could say FDR created the modern presidency. With his establishment of rhetoric as an important tool, he learned to speak directly to the American people, who then thought of him as a trustworthy person. FDR also established the United States ' military base and put into motion many of the first steps towards alliances with other nations. His time in office also saw the addition of foreign policy as the executive office 's job, as well as the creation of the Executive Office of the Presidency. All these additions in FDR 's terms allowed him to define the executive 's job, which helped to declare him the first modern president.

Out of all the men who have been President of the United States, there are some that just take the cake of who were the most influential and important. Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan being the top three. These three have impacted America tremendously from WW2 and helping the Cold war to ending The Great Depression. They were good leaders in a time of need which makes them well known and unforgettable.

He used his strong executive power to promote morality and social change, which made him one of the most well-liked and vigorous presidents. From birth until his tardy teens, Roosevelt suffered greatly from asthma, was frail and sickly, and was near-sighted, which coerced him to wear glasses. His father took him for rides in the night to avail him breathe with fresh air and inspirited him to build up his body with strenuous exercises and sports in efforts to build his body and mind. In 1876, Roosevelt was accepted to Harvard College. After graduating, he decided to enter politics and in 1881, at the age of 23, he won election to the first of three terms in the Incipient York State Assembly as a Republican.

As the creator of Reaganomics, former president Ronald Reagan was elected to office in the year 1981. Reagan was extremely focused on strengthening the economy of the United States while also preventing the government from being overly involved in the daily lives of the American people. He was the former governor of California; during that time he had many issues with creating an effective budget. There were many attempts to fix the budget but it only hurt the California economy even more. Reagan also had issues socially with the Black Panther Party and young college students. Although, he had many issues as governor that did not stop Mr. Reagan from running for president of the United States, he strongly disagreed with President Ford and that pushed him harder to run and win. Reagan effectively addresses the people of America in his first inaugural address through appeal to unity, appeal to patriotism and appeal to ethos with historic American references.

Eleanor Roosevelt Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, better known as Eleanor Roosevelt, once said that “...it is more intelligent to hope rather than to fear to try rather than not to try. For one thing we know beyond all doubt: Nothing has ever been achieved by the person who says, ‘It can’t be done’” (Marsico 94). Eleanor Roosevelt was the First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945; wife of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. When Franklin was diagnosed with polio, “she became eyes and ears for him, a trusted and tireless reporter”.

Nancy Reagan made an impact on our society, so large that the impact is still lasting today. She is a very special person because of her determination not to give up however hard life may get. She is an example of a hard worker and a very caring person.

American values were based on hard work and coming together as a to resolve problems and obstacles. Going back to before the United States was founded as a country, having unreasonable taxes and laws from the rule of one person was the reason why americans wanted to free themselves from England’s control. Franklin Roosevelt used many ideas that questioned the philosophy of american values. Throughout the great depression. his actions reflected these american values because he allowed people to put in effort towards bring their country back to its prosperous state by enforcing programs that creating jobs and making sure future generations can contribute towards the economy.
