From the research, pride can be defined in many ways. According to Amodeo, “We might believe that healthy self-worth means taking pride in our achievement.” Amodeo further states that pride is driven by poor self-worth and shame (Amodeo, 2015). This means that no matter the definitions of pride, there are too many that people came with their own definitions. One person can say that pride is their achievements while others say it's a sin. However, pride can be lost over time. The cause of losing school pride can be attributed to the lack of social interactions between teachers and their students. According to Hurst, Nixon, and Wallace, “Students believe social interaction: (a) helps students learn from others (23%), (b) makes learning fun (16%), (c) gets students interested and engaged (10%), and (d) allows students a chance to talk in the classroom.” This means that social interaction greatly affects not just the student's pride, but also the teachers since these interactions can help both sides. …show more content…

Without social interactions, the community would have no communication with the school and greatly affects pride. Another cause is the school’s layout because it affects students learning and their behavior. According to Arlani and Mirdad, “Physical features of learning spaces can stimulate emotions, create a sense of security, and prepare the students to learn.” Additionally, according to Arlani and Mirdad, students of public school has reduced attention span when it comes to the environment they are in (Arlani, Mirdad, 2015, p.177). This means that the school's physical layout can affect students learning which affects their reactions towards the school. This results in student’s pride to go down because their environment doesn’t treat them properly. These causes can be used to find the effects of losing pride and ways to improve
