The proposition my group had was yes on 64. A yes vote would allow individuals to be in possession of marijuana outside of medical reasons. My groupmates were Takiyah, Alanna, and Charles. The teacher gave us each the option to have different group roles to keep things organized but we combined all of our roles to make the work ethic faster. The roles were facilitator, recorder, editor, and task manager. These roles each had jobs to keep the group in check or fixing the video. This assignment was basically us using the information we got from the interviews t02o put into a video to inform others that did not obtain the information to vote on this prop. Collectively we produce this ad to get our message out there and make sure it affects people in a good way. It gets them thinking that maybe it is not such a bad idea to legalize it. …show more content…
Other than that our original plan was not truly thought out at first. The interviews were pleasant to hear the opinions of the citizens. One of the interviews we had was a police officer that gave his honest opinion about prop 64 even though it could affect his job. We had a young man who at the time was rolling up a blunt definitely excited to hear that this prop had a better chance of passing because of the requirements and guaranteed safety. These interviews really helped shape our video.
Our overall plan was to flat out have the interviews that we had and record them with the old school song mary jane. Once we continued to collaborate we decided on a more image approach. The challenges after the thought out plan where everyone putting in the work for editing the video. Charles didn’t help that much other than recording himself for the voice over. Alanna and Takiyah both put the work in to get the video looking nice. The transitional effects that we used in the video was so that we could make it less choppy and flow
As well as getting more people to volunteer to be in the video. Natalie was video taping and brought solo cups and a table. Cary was able to bring people to help out with the video. I was able to get empty alcohol bottles from my parents and older brother. Also I was able to get strobe lights and a black light to have the scene look like if it was an actual party. We all helped and made our ideas about the psa come to life. Natalie edited the video and Cary was able to film some parts as well with his phone. We all played a role in the psa as a bystander or the main character’s.
It was clear that our agreed upon norms placed a significant level of responsibility on the group leader. In this instance, Kristian served the role well. Due to the variance in time zones the use of Google Docs as a collaborative effort, was helpful to ensuring that each member was able to participate effectively. One member of our group, had difficulty accessing the internet on a regular basis and email the group portions of the assignment for the leader to incorporate into the draft. While this allowed the individual to contribute, it placed an additional burden on the leader to incorporate the suggestions into the final draft of the assignment. Additionally, during one assignment, the leader formatted the document early in the day and email it out prior to allowing everyone to contribute. This created confusion regarding whether the Google Doc or the emailed draft was the current working copy. Through email communication, this small obstacle was overcome and the group was successful over
Aspect 1: Every question was answered sequentially. By separating answers by paragraphs for the most part, they were easy to find. Each answer was overtly stated with a reference to the question. Full points were provided.
As I said before the only real hard part of this assignment was that I had to figure out who was going to do what and just how I’d get them to accept their roll in this. I haven’t gotten around to asking anyone these things yet as ive always put this off as not to upset anyone.
The Quinnipiac University poll was done during early September to test the waters before the first presidential debate between Clinton and Trump. The sample size was roughly 960, supposedly voters from across the nation with a margin of error of +- 3.2 which isn’t horrible. The numbers look fine and because it was a nationwide poll, the possibility of getting a fair and accurate cross section of views is fairly high, that being said there are a few issues with this poll that cause me to be concerned with the accuracy of this poll for many reasons.
Initiative 42 is the result of nearly 200,000 Mississippians signing petitions to have an initiative placed on the November ballot to amend the state Constitution. If passed, this citizen led initiative will hold the Mississippi Legislature accountable for keeping its promise to fully fund public schools, which the Legislature has only done twice in the past 18 years. That should be simple enough, but Governor Phil Bryant, Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves, and Speaker of the House Phillip Gunn have used their power and position to help confuse the public about the Initiative. Why? Such action is contrary to statements the Governor has made in the past regarding the public’s role in education. For example, in a December 2, 2014 article
The original video Murphy’s Law Firm created was seen as a little confusing and choppy by our original focus group, there for we added info and improved the transitions. The firm resolved to add more information on Sen. Murphys fifteen hour filibuster in the Senate in support of stricter gun control law, change the transition in a second video not end on such a hard note, and show more of what he can bring to the table on this issue. Text was changed to further integrate our slogan of “we all stand together”, as requested by the second focus group, to show he stands with the rest of American and he is devotion to the country. The attack ad was by far the favorite for both focus groups.
Another thing that I thought about after watching this documentary is what my mom has told, my mom tells me that “Jerome you can be right all you want but if you don’t be quiet you can get caught up in situations” and this documentary has opened my eyes to this because once I feel that i’m right there is nothing that you can tell me and I would try to prove you wrong, but after watching this i’m going to have to change my ways. Another thing that I’ve heard a lot was “the top 10% ruled the country” after hearing about ALEC 80% of me believes this, I mean Alec has proposed a lot of the bills that we have today. Overall I feel that this documentary was very informative and has opened my eyes wider on the issue of
My group and I have not decided on which roles we are taking; the plan is not finalized. We are planning to create posters together and each of us will play a role during the video. I plan to contribute by making posters, asking my group when we are meeting up, and help my group members if they need any assistance.
In the NBR article the main argument Thomas Beagle is trying to make, is that the newly introduced offence of “causing harm by posting digital communication (section 19)” is very wide and that it prevents or tries to prevent freedom of speech which may be of value to society. As an example he says that taking a photo of a politician receiving a bribe and posting it online can fit the criteria needed to commit the offense (whether it is true or not) with the penalty being up to three months in jail or a fine not exceeding $2000. He also says that some communications that causes harm may be of value to society, such as exposing criminal wrongdoings, which is not an available defence under the new offense. Due to this I would have to agree with
In the very beginning of the project, I planned to work with Kinzy but ended up combining our group with that of Noah and Nathan’s in the hopes that we would work well together as a group. This did not result as well as hoped, though we got the work done and I was given the chance to act as a peacemaker. As the project launched into action, we first had to decide upon an idea to sell, to which I suggested a few ideas, none of which were chosen. Each member of the group contributed to choosing the right idea for us to push into our target audience. From this point, I began to organize the beginning’s of our project, such as the lab for our scientific portion. Throughout the next week, however, conflicts within my personal life impacted and limited my ability to assist much in the creation and pushing of advertisements. My biggest contribution here was co-writing-and-performing an advertisement over the morning announcements. I then worked to help organize all the tasks we had yet to complete; it was decided that Kinzy and I would be writing the English essay and reviewing the Science Lab, the Byrd’s vice-versa.
In our concept video, we explored the concept of friendship. Or central idea was “the key to life is friendship and love.” We chose the images of us with each other and other friends because the friendship that we personally have together is one we’d never be able to live without. We have grown into one person almost. The other girls presented in the video are bonds that we hope will never break. These ladies have made us who we are today and the thought of going without them almost feels empty. We had no specific order to our content, we really just wanted to show how important these people are to us and our everyday lives, whether it’s being silly or serious or all dressed up for a dance. The soundtrack we chose is “If I Ain’t Got You”
Prior to starting the assignment, I was extremely confident in running groups because at my practicum site I ran two education groups and one process group each day I was at my site. Going into the assignment, I had an idea which direction I wanted to go in for the video. Being that I do not live in California like my classmates, and I completed my work at my practicum site, finding members for my group proved to be extremely
Technical and Aesthetic influences upon Deep Focus Deep focus filming has its roots of conception seemingly at different times in the film industry depending upon those who argue that certain films that engaged in the use of this type of filming. It wasn't though until the collaboration of director Orson Wells and DOP Gregg Toland in the film Citizen Kane 1941 that deep focus cinematography was brought to public attention and given notability by various publications and brought an unusual acknowledgement of the cinematographer within the film industry at the time. Aesthetically deep focus required a transition from the normally soft focus filming to that of a very sharp and crisp image. The object of deep focus was to try to obtain a form
To start with, all the students in the class developed advocacy campaign videos and all groups did well to develop their campaigns to get a positive response from the audience. There were some strengths and weaknesses in the campaigns. Besides this, I was more impressed by the group that was shown the video on “suicide in young adults” that campaign was well-organised and the members play a great role to give a straight message to the audience in terms of how the young adults commit suicide after failing in exams and ignored by their close relations such as friends and relatives. The video was imaginative and the role played by the team very actively during the development process. They defined their target audience and include their
