What does Professionalism mean to me? Professionalism in my term means it is someone who is very dedicated to their profession. It is an important and great decision to follow by the rules and ethics of professionalism. If we did not have anyone that cared about their profession it would cause a lot of problems in our society today. It could cause a lot of disruption in your workplace. In order to abide by professionalism you must take pride in your job, percieve realistic goals and values, and know what your expectations are.

Keeping track of your completed courses and earned credits is crucial to planning for the rest of your college experience. I am brand new to taking college courses. In fact, this is my first one I have taken. I believe this class has gone well for me and it has given me lots of tools not only to be successful in high school but in college courses as well. I have chosen to enroll in another course next term. The course I have chosen to take next term is Professionalism in The Workplace with Professor Langfritz. I have chosen to take this course because I believe it can be beneficial to me because I plan to get a job in the coming months.
Everywhere you go and in everything you do, professionalism comes in to account in some way or another. Professionalism has been defined as, “a strict adherence to courtesy, honesty and responsibility when dealing with individuals or other companies in the business environment” (Clarke, 2015). When it comes to the career of nursing, professionalism is taken to a whole other level. Not only does professionalism come in to account with your business professionals and peers, but you have patients with whom professionalism is highly practiced as well. Professionalism in nursing means that you are able to handle all the responsibilities given to you in an efficient and proper way. It means that when you are given an order that needs to be carried out by a doctor or a patient who needs your help, you adhere to what is being expected of you in a timely manner. Physicians put trust into nurses in order to carry out orders that are needed to save patients’ lives. If you’re not looked at as professional and responsible, it is going to be very hard to have a successful career. Responsibility is what nursing is all about. Professionalism in nursing means that along with taking on big responsibilities, you have discipline. Discipline in nursing is crucial to being successful. Not only to keep your patients safe, but so that you personally are on the ball and looked at by others as professional, therefore, making you a great nurse. Professionalism means that you have the
I will continue showing respect, empathy and dignity of the patient after graduation. I will make sure to continue behaving professionally throughout my career. It is very important for a healthcare professional to demonstrate professionalism, as once I become pharmacist it will be my responsibility that I reach on time to work, wear dress appropriately and behave in a nice manner to the patient. For example, after graduation I will continue to obey HIPPA law and other state laws which will mandate me to work in a particular way and which will not allowed me to share any personal information of a patient with anyone. Thus, by being punctual, respectful and responsible I will continue to advance my level of expertise in this particular outcome
Professionalism means having good qualities, being courteous, conscientious, and showing professional character in the workplace. The characteristics of professionalism I feel are important are loyalty, honesty, dependability, courtesy, confidentiality, and attitude.
Professionalism: What does it truly mean? How is professionalism truly achieved? What makes you a professional? These are all questions that many radiologic professionals want the answers to. Professionalism varies in different environments which causes it to become misunderstood during some situations. Professionalism is the way someone acts in a businesslike manner which supports the beliefs of their profession or career. Anybody individual can act in a professional manner, but the majority people that act in this manner enjoy their career and want to be best at it.
The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines professionalism as the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person. Yet the White Paper on Pharmacy Student Professionalism says it is displaying values, beliefs and attitudes that put the needs of another about your personal needs. There is still another definition. The Medical Professionalism Project says professionalism is the basis of medicine's contract with society. It demands placing the interests of patients above those of the physician, setting and maintaining standards of competence and integrity, and providing expert advice to society on matters of health. In my opinion, a person's attitude, values, and behaviors
So far to date I feel as if I’m excelling at being a good student. I cannot fathom being late to class or anything else for that matter. I always try to be prepared and so far, I feel that I have succeeded though I thought I forgot my glasses once and nearly had heart failure. I greatly enjoy the class participation aspect of this class. As a student growing up I was so shy the mere thought of speaking out was mortifying. As an adult who is seeking out an education it is strange how I view the whole process differently. When I have a question I ask it plain and simple and strangely the floor has yet to open and swallow me whole. Oh to have this wisdom in the 7th grade. I find that asking questions has actually been a conduit to friendship in this class as well. A fellow student sat next to me and said “you ask good questions! I’m sitting next to you.” I can’t begin to explain what that did to my self-esteem. To know that my speaking out has had a positive effect on someone else is so amazing. What’s more amazing is the fear I have before asking questions which usually goes something like oh my gosh please don’t sound like an idiot.
It is extremely difficult to pick just one. However, if I had to choose just one, as a beginning teacher I would have to say professionalism. Professionalism will set you apart from being “some twenty something year old kid.” How you conduct yourself will set the tone for your reputation in the school, how your colleagues view you and it shows that you’re serious about your position. This will also set the stage for your classroom it is important that the person in charge sets a good example and becomes someone that the students can look up to. Consequences of not holding yourself to a professional standard could be catastrophic, not only would your students not listen to you, but they would lose respect for you. First of all you have to set
In response to Mayer’s article on ‘Professional standards, professional learning and accomplished teaching: The foundations of a new professional accountability’. I believe that professional standards are important in the improvement of pedagogical skill and knowledge. However, to measures whether someone meets certain criteria can be difficult. Teachers need to be critical of themselves and reflect regularly on their practice. Curriculum can play an important role in teacher and student performance. Curriculum should be designed more flexibly so the teacher can address the diverse need of the classroom and cater it accordingly. Furthermore, external influences can make It difficult for teachers can negatively impact the learning experience
Professional responsibility is the behind the scene work associated with teaching. It is where a teacher shows commitment to ethical and professional teaching standards and will seek to improve their practice. These components are essential for teachers to have a classroom that functions smoothly. It is imperative at the end of each day a teacher takes a few minutes to reflect on the day. Specifically reflecting on the question “Did I instruct my lesson at a distinguished level and did my students meet the objectives of the lesson”. It benefits the students when a teacher realizes what worked, what did not work, and how engaging the activities were. Based on the feedback, future lesson can be changed to fit the student’s learning needs. It is important that a teacher look at all aspects of their instruction and reflect on it. Differentiated instruction can happen when a teacher can reflect and adapt their teaching to meet their student’s needs. To stay ahead of the ever-changing educational system, a teacher must have a personal reflection as part of their everyday task of teaching. Reflecting also includes looking at the implications of my actions of my students, their families, and the community. My teaching practice approaches and strategies will be a result of looking at grounded theory and research in education. Professional responsibility is where a teacher demonstrates their commitment to high ethical and professional standards and work towards improving their
The expression ‘Duty of Care’ refers to the fundamental professional conduct of the teacher. This becomes all the more serious when we talk about somebody in a position of responsibility. Teachers, because they are older, wiser, more experienced, knowledgeable, and they should be aware of potential dangers, are in a position of responsibility for their students. The key consideration in the duty of care is does the pupil-teacher relationship exist? This doesn 't just refer to school hours or school premises. In fact, the duty of care that teachers owe to their students is greater in some cases than that of a parent. For example, a parent may leave his six or seven year old child alone in a room, unsupervised and go to another room for some work, but a teacher cannot afford to do that in the school. On the other hand, it will be seen to be unreasonable for a teacher to leave a class unsupervised for any length of time. Also, as teachers may have more than 25-30 students in their care at any given time, therefore, the duty of care is seen to be over and above that which a normal parent would exercise over their child.
