Proposed Education Policy

In the 2016 presidential campaign free college tuition was highly debated. President Obama briefly talked about it as well. Tuition is one of the most expensive pieces of obtaining a higher education. US citizens deserve higher education. The people of America are ready for a change. College tuition should be free, so that more Americans can attend higher education and make something of themselves.

In the world today people need to go to college and get a degree. Getting a degree will help the society and people might not be so dumb in life. A college degree can help you life be 100% better. The world will need workers that have a college degree to do the jobs in the society. According to (Center for American Progress) “A recent study by Georgetown University’s Center on education and the workforce found that at current levels of production, the U.S economy will have a shortfall of 5 million college-educated workers by 2020. We need to have more people become nurses, teachers,lawyers or this world will be going down quickly. If we give free college tuition this society might have more students going to get a degree.

There are many students that are struggling to pay for a university education and lately a university education is getting more and more expensive each year. There are many students who graduate high school but don’t receive a university education because they can’t afford one. Most of those students are really smart and can go somewhere in life, but they end up working for a minimum wage because a university education is just too much for them. For that reason, a university education should be free for all students who graduate high with a 3.0 grade point average or higher. If a student has less than a 3.0 grade point average than they shouldn’t even qualify to apply for a university education, because if you can’t get a simple 3.0 grade point average in college what makes you think they can succeed at the university level. There are many reasons a university education should be free for students with 3.0 grade point average or higher. The first reason is that most students who have to pay for there university education usually take out loans and start working part-time so they make enough money to pay for there university education. This tends to discourage them from succeeding and passing at the university level. The second reason is that if smarter students receive a free education, it will decrease the amount of university dropouts. This has always been a question to students if, college should be free to continue their education. In most cases people believe students should not pay for college. Many students could benefit if college was free. A group of researchers studied that the out come free college could result to, lower income students will have a chance for a degree, Student debt will no longer ruien students, and more people will attend college. First, this is a major benefit for lower income students is that now they have an opportunity to attend college without worrying about financial aid money. Letting college be free will eliminate the excuses for not graduating. This would also improve the college graduation rates, as it makes it accessible for low income students to attend. Second, student debt will no longer exist. This will allow students to be smart in controlling more money and responsibly. Most students will also have more money to continue on their major. It will also help low-income save then to waste money they don't have yet. Final, college will allow more people to attend college. This is far most important because people will raise the population of people with a degree. This will also help future generations maintain a healthy grit mentality to attend college. This will also encourage the people to have a better future and healthier life style.

America is known for many things baseball, diplomacy, childhood obesity, McDonalds, and of its vast educational opportunities. Unfortunately many of these opportunities come at an expensive cost. The average for instate tuition at state schools is 9,410 dollars per year so times that by four years it’s a grand total of 37,640 dollars. This isn’t including meal plans, books, and room and board. The United States of America should provide free higher education, college, to all U.S. citizens. The U.S. would benefit from all that this would bring. The expenses that this service would cost is worth the advantages that it provides. There are many people that will be positively affected by a free college education.
