Proposition 55 will also support education and health care by giving them funds. We should always put the children's education and safety as our priority. California brought in prop 30 to help out with the funding of schools, shrink class sizes and healthcare in Smith director of communications at the California Labor Federation "Labor's Edge: Views from the California Labor Movement" article . If the proposition doesn’t pass there would be weeks cut off from schools, it would make learning difficult for the children due to the amount of students in the classrooms and families with low incomes won’t be able to afford healthcare. These two issues are the main ones from proposition 55 but there are more problems the proposition will like to …show more content…
The prop will gather up to $2 billion for health care and give it to those families that can’t afford in Holzer's "California Ballot 2016: Pros and Cons of Props 51-56" article. Proposition 55 isn’t only helping out with one situation but multiple that are related in some type of way. They all have the same goal to end the budget cuts, get help and get funds to keep running their programs. The majority of the tax increase will go to k-12 grade schools, eleven percent will go to state community colleges and the remaining to Medi-Cal or health care. The proposition will also help the music and art programs at schools so they won’t get cut off. Proposition 55 is also making sure that low income families get health care. It helped the Legislature balance its budget for the first time in years without slashing social programs (Calefati). The money that is being taken away from the wealthy have helped a lot since these propositions started it helps keep control of the budget cuts. California should see a change if proposition 55 passes starting in education, healthcare, budget cuts and other organizations it funds. If voters approve Proposition 55, the state will continue to depend on Taybi and other wealthy Californians to fund a significant portion of schools, parks, road repairs, and other government services ( Liam). While the government gets back on track and could start funding the program by itself the best thing right now is to depend on the wealthy. This is why it's important to vote yes on proposition
In 1969, Massachusetts fashioned the law 40B, famously referred to as the “Anti-Snob Zoning Act”, which allows developers to bypass land use restrictions in towns where less than ten percent of the housing meets the state definition of affordable. There are multiple positions and solutions to friction in Massachusetts largely inspired by controversy surrounding the State's affordable housing law, Massachusetts General Laws chapter 40B between housing advocates and open space advocates. This thesis reviews and critiques the current law, and diagnoses various legislative proposals for the progressive feud.
Facts: Kyle John Kelbel was convicted of first-degree murder, past pattern of child abuse, in violation of Minnesota state statute section 609.185(5) and second-degree murder, in violation of Minnesota statute 609.19, subdivision 2(1). He was sentenced to life in prison for the death of Kailyn Marie Montgomery. Kelbel appealed, and argued that the district court failed to instruct the jury that it must find that the state proved beyond a reasonable doubt each of the acts that constituted the past pattern of child abuse and he also argued that the evidence against him was insufficient to prove past pattern of child abuse
One of the most significant issues to issues to affect healthcare in today’s society is the impact that illegal aliens have on the already broken healthcare system. This paper will explore the impact of undocumented Hispanics and their impact on the services available and used in California. Included will be the numbers of those that are affected as well as what is being done to decrease the impact of this population on the current healthcare system.
Voting Yes is the first step to getting better funding for public education, it is estimated that this will improve opportunities for educational success for one million students in Arizona schools. Vote no advocates may have expressed their concerns about the next funding and the trust fund and in the process spooked some voters but the Vote Yes advocates are already addressing their concerns. The Joint Legislative Budget Committee reports that the trust is expected to grow by $1.2 billion over the next 10 years and Children's Action Alliance are already collaborating with others to find the next step for funding public schools. Prop. 123 is what Arizona’s public education desperately needs, we need to stand together and make the change we want to see. Make sure to vote before May 17th, the future of educational funding is depending on your vote. ”Unity is strength.. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved” (Mattie J.T.
Legislation has been approved in California to make illegal aliens ineligible for public social services, public health care services, and public school education at elementary, secondary, and post secondary levels. News of the passage of this legislation has been received with mixed feelings not only in California, but throughout the United States. Due to the unconstitutional nature of the California law, it is necessary that it be thrown out.
I would have rather paid a measly 200.00 to the government than to have Proposition 13. This is a slap in the face as a teacher, they are truly hurting the wrong things. Most people knew that it would do this and it did. I was resentful and how many ways can we express ourselves? I thought this was like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. What was even worse was that it undercut and there had to be reductions to meet constraints and we had to go backwards. Also the two-thirds vote should have been majority. Another impact was that other states followed California and the taxpayers wanted to send a message, I believe Oregon passed one. There is only one way to get around this proposition and that is mellow rues."
Close to half of each dollar spent on healthcare is inefficiently used both at a clinical and administrative level. Three other areas that funds are not appropriately in are insurer overhead and profit and over priced pharmaceuticals. Projected figures for the first year estimate that just in administrative costs alone the citizenry should see approximately twenty billion dollars worth of savings in the first year. Another area that will put approximately $5.2 billion dollars back into the budget will be that this program will allow the state purchasing power for mass quantity pharmaceuticals and durable equipment. Finally by increasing the emphasis on preventative care and making a primary care physician available to all will add another $3.4 billion. Last but definitely not least, it is estimated that this bill will dramatically reduce fraud approximately $800 billion dollars in healthcare spending. Total savings for the first year are projected to be approximately $29 billion dollars. The projected plan is to use this money for the purpose of providing healthcare to the populous that is currently without health insurance. With these savings and more efficient use of funds all residents will have comprehensive healthcare that at this point was leaving twelve million without it as well as not increase spending (Amaro

Major policy debates are what normally cause the Legislature to miss the 100-day goal, e.g. Governor Brewer’s work to expand Medicaid in 2013. This year, major healthcare debates at the Arizona Legislature are unlikely due to the uncertainty surrounding the repeal and replace of the Affordable Care Act. However, there are always healthcare issues debated at the Legislature. Some of the issues on the forefront this year include proposals to address “surprise billings”, mandatory flu vaccines, newborn screenings, and behavioral health transportation.
If Medicaid is not expanded to the millions who have low incomes and aren’t insured, then starting in 2014 Americans who don’t pay for health insurance and aren’t eligible for Medicaid will then be issued a tax. In 2014 Americans will have to pay 95 dollars or one percent of their income, which ever is higher. The tax will only increase from there. In 2015 Americans will have to pay 325 dollars or two percent of their income, and in 2016 the tax will increase to 695 dollars or 2 and a half percent of their income. Americans who make $200,000 or more annually and couples with incomes above $250,000 will have a tax increase to help cover the costs of the program.
Pro: Benefits uninsured patients and low-income families with Medi-Cal with over $3 billion and limits the involvement of the Legislature.
Proposition 50 was the only California state proposition on the primary ballot last June. Due to current law, no official can be suspended and stripped of their benefits or salary, causing them to be able to get away with actions they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with. Due to many recent actions involving the issues of suspension Prop 50 was drafted. This proposition was designed to refuse legislative members’ salaries, pensions, or other privileges of their office if they have been suspended by a two-thirds vote from the state legislation. Voting yes would allow the legislature the ability to suspend a member and his pay. It gained bipartisan support on this proposition because of recent events that have shed new light on how corrupt

Proposition 47.
This national health care tax is supposed to be an answer to most of our health care insurance issues. Although most people agree that our health care system is in turmoil and needs to be reformed, some people do not agree that the solution is a national health care tax. Americans seem to be even more upset over the cost and access to care even more than the quality of care that is given. It is amazing to note that most Americans when asked what they think the most important health care issue facing the United States, the cost and access to care remains the most common response. (Newport, Jones, & Saad, 2012).
