Car crashes, they are extremely deadly. People are trying to figure out how to decrease teenage car crashes and so far they have com up with GDLs and raising the age up to 18. I think we should just stick with GDLs because they already have helped less crashes. With raising the age limit to 18, I think it gives the teens a disadvantage. I also think that they should stick with GDLs because multiple tests will prove that you are ready to drive.
I think GDLs assist us getting in no crashes is because the restrictions that are set will soon become habit. They also cause less distractions because there has to be an adult in the car while you are driving. There are also different stages until you slowly get the whole responsibility.
I think
“I passed! Only after five tries!” Teenage driving has been a concern for many experienced drivers. Teens account for 12% of drivers involved in fatal crashes, so should they even be allowed on the road? Counterintuitively, no. The minimum driving age should not be increased. Studies have shown that decreases in crashes for the minimum age drivers have simply been made up in more crashes for drivers at the minimum unrestricted age.
The GDL is the best option for teen drivers, giving them safer a driving experience. Raising the driving age will not change anything regarding teen traffic accidents; it would only take away driving privileges from teens who are obeying the driving rules. The Graduated Driver’s License will be more successful in decreasing teen car accidents and ensuring the safety of these new drivers on America’s
Should the minimum driving age be raised? In the article Traffic Safety Facts the NHTSA states that, 5,864 15 - 20 year old drivers were involved in fatal crashes in 2008, which is a 27% decrease from the crashes in 1998. This is still a big number, and has been tried to be reduced by New Jersey, but ended up not doing much, and instead added and increase of car crashes to an older age group. The minimum driving age should not be raised to allow teens to gain experience, learn responsibility, while staying safe altogether.
The big debate as to whether the legal driving age should be raised to eighteen is an ongoing issue. There are both arguments for and against this matter. Younger drivers, as well as old ones, can cause many life-threatening accidents; therefore, raising the minimum driving age could significantly reduce the number of accidents. The accident rates can be lowered considerably if the legal driving age is bumped up to eighteen. This would mean that no more kids could get hurt or worse, killed in a car accident.
On the counterclaim side if the driving age is raised to 18 then it will save young lives. On Average about nine teens ages 16-19 are killed everyday from car wrecks. If it's raised to 18 then there won’t be as many teens ages 16 and 17 killed in car wrecks. A lot of teens lose their lives a year do to car accidents. On average about 6,000 teenagers die a year due from car wrecks. So that's why it might be a good idea. According to( DRIVE-SAFELY.NET) “ A sixteen year old is almost twice as likely to die in a car crash then a 30 year old.”
We have implemented many ways in our society to decrease the amount of car accidents teens get into. Two of these ways are that you have to wait until you are 18 to drive and the other is the graduated license program. These are both effective ways to decrease the amount of teen car accidents, but they both have their pros and cons. Some people may prefer that you should wait until your 18 to drive, and others think the graduated license program is better. I personally think the GDL program is better than waiting until you are 18.
The question inquired is whether raising the driving age to 18 or imposing a graduated driver’s license (GDL) would lower the accident raise for teens. The advocates for both say that the restrictions would lower allow teens to get behind the wheel when they are ready. Although neither would work well, one must be chosen.
Boo!yay! People are siding with GDLS or raising the age to get a drivers licence. First of all, studies show that raising the driving age doesn’t help prevent accidents because the teens don’t have experience when they first drive. Getting GDLS helps teens be more responsible with the cars and on the road. Raising the driving age could benefit parents and teens letting them know they are more mature.
“Driving mishaps can happen to anyone, but they happen all too frequently to teenage drivers because of their lacking significant experience behind the wheel…in recent years, safety experts, elected officials, and public policy experts have focused on strengthening such state laws with the goal of making the roads safer for teens. ” (Andrews, 2) New laws should be made to keep teens and the road a safer place. The driving age should be raised to 18 to reduce many dangers.
teens 16-18 have the highest car crash rates of any age group. Currently the government is only taking precautionary measures. Even though drivers education and written testing are good, there's more the government can do. For such a major issue the government is doing very little to prevent it. The change begins with education. Once people know about the issue then there's more support for government involvement. The government should change the driving age to 18 because politically it would unify the United States under one age and reduce car crashes.
If the age limit were raised to the age of eighteen, it would give teenagers time to practice on driving skills and safety regulations of the road. Furthermore, if teens are given more time to practice and understand specific guidelines, it will gradually make them better drivers and help them recognize smart driving skills.
BAM! CRASH! Another accident has happened! A teen has wrecked! Should teens start driving at age 18? In “Should the Driving Age Be Raised to 18?” 50 states prohibit 16-year-olds from drinking alcohol, buying cigarettes, and purchasing handguns.Between 1995 and 2004,there were 30,917 fatalities in accidents that involved 15 to 17 year old drivers.One-third of the deaths were teen drivers themselves. The rest the teens struck were pedestrians, passengers, and people in the cars. Because off all the deaths when teens hit other people, they should raise the driving age to 18?
In recent days, an auto safety group has brought light to the idea that the driving age should be raised to the age of 18, I believe this would do our country a great deal of service in effective safety measures. In 2011, about 2,650 teens were killed in motor vehicles meaning that around 7 teens per day were dying in crashes(CDC). The alarming rate of deaths by teenagers in car accidents is something that can be properly stopped with more preparation before taking their drivers exam. I believe that this measure should be put into law to effectively help our nations youth's safety.
Teenagers tend to induce poor mistakes, such as failing to scan the road, misjudging driving conditions, and becoming distracted can cause them to have a higher crash rate. Especially if they are on their phones texting or talking while driving will definitely cause more accidents. Having the driving age increased from 16 year olds to 18 year olds will reduce the number of accidents they cause, because 18 year olds are mature and can handle driving for hours at a time. Which is another reason to raise the age because teenagers also cause accidents from lack of sleep when they undergo school and it starts early in the morning, so of course teenagers are going to be sleepy. Having an adult with them in the car, teens are more careful and aware of what they are doing which reduces the risk of them doing something irresponsible and cause an accident. It not only protects teens, but it also protects everybody else on the road. However, it protects them so much that they miss out on learning experiences that they can receive when they are alone, such as knowing the responsibility of owning a vehicle and self-regulation.
The driving age should not be raised to 18. I think this because i feel that bad driving is not because of teenagers. Bad driving can come from anyone who isn't paying attention to the road of any age. People also over look the elderly and the dangers they can cause to the road. They can be invloved in terrible accidents and can stop up traffic.
