Can we purify ocean water?
We can purify ocean water through a process called desalination, but the problem with that is that it requires a lot of energy. Salt dissolves in water really easily and create strong chemical bonds. Those bonds are extremely difficult to break up. Another problem with desalination is that it’s extremely costly. The cost of desalination depends on labor, energy cost, land prices, financial agreements, and the salt content in the water.
Why must we conserve water?
Water is the most important substance for preserving life. The human body needs water to carry out our daily task .humans can survive for weeks without food but only a few DAYS without water. Plants and animals also need water, so if they don’t get water they will die out, and without animals and plants we will have nothing to eat.97% of the earth’s water is salt water and that’s expensive to filter for humans to drink .only 3 % is available for drinking, which means you have billions of people sharing off of the same 3% of water. We must not pollute our water because it’s the only available source of water we have.

Right now, the oceans are facing destruction. Each day new pollutants find their way into the ocean's waters. The pollutants that contaminate the ocean take many forms. Each year millions of gallons of oil are put into the ocean. Toxic materials are dumped into the oceans and add up to deadly proportions. Tons of trash such as plastics and paper are pulled out of the ocean each day. This trash contaminates the water and causes many deaths of marine animals. Everyone on the planet has polluted the oceans one way or another. Factories that are in various industries make an enormous contribution to ocean pollution. These factories use unbelievable amounts of water to make their products. The Natural Resource Defense Council says, "More than four out of every ten gallons of water used in the US are used for industrial purposes." A large amount of this water is dumped back into the oceans. This water is usually not clean, and may contain thousands of different chemicals. When this happens it can kill marine life, contaminate food supplies, and endanger people who use waters for fishing, swimming, or drinking. Water is also dumped back into the oceans by power plants who use it to cool reactors. This water is placed back into the oceans at high temperatures. The earth is like a living organism; it thrives full of life with a fragile balance. This balance has been thrown off by many different things. Water seems to be one of the biggest problems with this offset balance. Water is a magic liquid keeping all of life thriving. Humans drink and use water, plants use water, water is used in everyday life, and it’s slowly being taken away. In the future, there will be no water left to sustain life on earth.
The one thing humans need on this planet to survive is water. If we need water to survive, then why are polluting it? Most of our nation’s waterways are in terrible condition because of the pollution in the water. Water pollution not only can cause illnesses, but also deaths for humans. Humans aren’t the only thing that water pollution causes harm to. It is also hurting our ecosystem. Humans are the leading cause of most water pollution. We keep throwing wastes into the water making the water unsafe for humans to drink. Scientists are coming up with ways for humans to decrease the amount of wastes they are putting in the water. We need to stop polluting the one thing that keeps us alive.
Water is a fundamental resource necessary for all life on Earth. Humanity would be extinct without it. People think there is an unlimited supply of water, however there is not. Water is a natural resource in the planet, although there is only 0.3 percent that can be used as drinking water. People have to drink a big amount of water every day, In order for them to stay hydrated and for other purposes. Fresh water is limited, sea water also plays an important role because it has salt in it and it could not be for drinking purposes. Saline water has to go through a process so it can be desalinated, however it is a tough challenge.
There are so many ways to control polluted water. People are dumping waste into oceans thinking their piece will not make a difference. But, with millions in the world doing it, the waste will add up. Most Americans are not concerned because they are filled with propaganda that water pollution does not exist. But statistics with carbon dioxides in water clearly show water purity is failing drastically. CO2 emissions in the United States is highest second in the world. And our emissions are estimated to reach 6,176 million metric tons by 2030. Those effects on water will be drastic.
Water is the life force that holds are fragile planet together. It allows life and humans to exist. Without it our planet would be void. Unfortunately we have been born into a challenging time in the history of our planet. Biodiversity is being lost, natural resources are being used up, and the oceans are in grave danger. However it’s not too late to change this.
The Earth has a very limited supply of fresh water, so it is up to us to make sure that we look after it and use it wisely. Right now there is way too much pollution in the oceans. Fish population is going down, coral reefs are dying and the oceans are becoming unswimmable. Too much trash is being dumped into the oceans. 8 million pounds of trash is dumped into the ocean each year.
Using tactics such as reverse osmosis and distillation you can make saltwater into clean drinking water. By pushing water through small filters you can remove the salt from the water giving you fresh drinking water. Imagine a world where seawater is the primary source of drinking water for almost all countries. This water could provide towns and cities with safe, regulation-abiding nourishment, equipped with all the minerals and purifiers added to modern drinking water. Of course, drinking straight seawater day after day would not only taste unpleasant, it would be harmful to a person’s body. The briny mixture would have to be filtered and treated in processes similar to how wastewater is treated. But wastewater does not contain nearly as much saline as seawater, so an additional process must be put into place to fully treat seawater that is to be turned into safe drinking water. This process is called desalination, and it is already being put into practice in several different areas around the world. It has helped pull countries out of droughts and other natural disasters. Desalination is not flawless, however, and more research on cost, environmental impacts, and energy efficiency, needs to be conducted before considering it a sustainable drinking water system that the entire world can rely on.

Why is this a major a problem around the world today; Having access to reliable drinking source is not common in other countries, besides mainly in America the rest of the entire plant has some sort of water problem that being water shortages and/or water pollution. Water needs to become a major concern around the entire world. The focus is going towards the surface water because that is what can be visually seen everyday but groundwater is actually in more immediate chronic danger.
