“Pushing Passed the Pain”- Short Film
An adaptation of the flash fiction story, “The End of Pain.”
1. What is the Purpose, Audience, and Tone of work? The purpose of this short film is to teach the audience it’s okay to forgive those who have hurt you in the past. The audience is geared to anyone who can sympathize and understand the importance of forgiveness. The tone encouraging and sympathetic.
2. Is it what you intended or what you would like for it to say or no? Explain. Yes, this is what I intended the purpose to be for this short film. In life, most people have a hard time forgiving and I wanted to create a film that will show not only the problem but also a solution. That said, it’s one thing to point the problem and not give the audience a solution.

I never gave much thought into what it takes to shoot, direct, edit, and complete a motion picture. Sure, it may sound fun, but after this assignment, it felt like a lot of work. There are quite a few specialized groups that put together the films that we enjoy in our movie theatres. No wonder why it takes months and even years to edit a film, these folks are making sure things are done and synced correctly! If our lives become unproductive, we feel guilty which often leads to depression and uselessness. All in all, the film opened my mind on how life goes through stages and the unexpected turns through it
At some point in our lives we are all faced with difficult emotional discomfort. One of the toughest parts is choosing what we perceive to be the right course of action. “Forgiveness is essential for healing and experiencing our wholeness. Yet, in order to experience our wholeness, no part of us can be repressed, denied, or overlooked” (Casarjian, pg. 48). This part of the book was very relatable to me.
