The way the world is surrounded by technology, not being able to understand technology is difficult but not “death in life”. Today, almost anything on paper is easily accessed on a laptop or smartphone. However, if you're technologically illiterate, you still have access to everything on paper, you just may have to look harder for it. In the text, Carole says “Now I can read, I can read books, anything. I can write. In English and French.” When I read that quote, I think of Carole's troubles when learning to read on paper, now she has to learn all over again on a laptop. Personally, I find it very hard to read off of a smartboard or laptop and I can only think of the struggles coming Carole's way in the 21st century. Some challenges could be,

The quote “Life is Tough, My Darling, But So Are You” really relates to me for many different reasons. Sometimes I’m scared to try new things because I’m very scared of failure. I typically on try new things once because if I don’t succeed I don’t want to continue with the challenge. give up on myself when I encounter something difficult only because I never want to fail at anything. I sometimes only try things once and if I don’t succeed I won’t try it again.

Allan Rufus wrote “Life is like a game of chess. To win you have to make a move. Knowing which move to make comes with insight and knowledge, and by learning the lessons that are accumulated along the way. We become each and every piece within the game called life!” To me this quote means when you know yourself you can foresee the decisions that you need to make to be beneficial. As you grow older you learn and grow and down the road you get to know yourself on a deeper level. Everything I do, what I see, what I believe in, how I act is and the values that I hold is what makes me who I am. The more I am in synch with my behavior and characteristics the better in tune I am to understanding

This quote comes into play while Janie and Tea Cake are in the Glades getting ready to leave because of a hurricane. At this point Janie and Tea Cake have waited to late to leave and are trying to decide if they want to try and beat the water or just stay there. I found this quote important because it ties the title of the book in with the situations that occur in the book. They are sitting there and despite the situation around them they can still find security within each other and God.

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” I try to live by this quote by Charles R. Swindoll every day. I feel that this is a strong quote with a lot of meaning behind it and, it can be interpreted in many ways. In my opinion, we should see things in a positive way all the time. We also should do what we love every day because you never know how close you are to the end.

For me this quote means that you always have to be the best version of yourself, and that in life there will always be sacrificces in order to be succesful.

In conclusion, I believe that this quote is very important in life. It is about getting in touch with your own soul. In The Alchemist, they reference the Soul of the World. The Soul of the World is within everyone, you just have to look hard and you will find it. Within your soul there is a desire or a want.
