In all parts of the world people have been speaking their minds since the beginning of time in every single race/ethnicity. People have been rioting for the right for equality for as long as time. If it was not one race it was another. In the 1960’s riots had sprung in Los Angeles, Cleveland, San Francisco, Chicago, Newark, and Detroit. All for the same reason that people are beginning to riot about in today’s world for Equality no matter what race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. After World War II, many African-Americans moved to the west of the United States mainly in Los Angeles, in hopes of finding a place where they were free to be themselves and live a life of freedom without slavery and discrimination. Isn’t that what every person wants to be able to go to school and work without being afraid of the environment around them. How could a person feel comfortable raising a family in a place where they themselves are afraid to even walk out their front door. The African-Americans felt this exact same way and were tired of feeling that way. On August 11th of 1965 the Los Angeles Highway patrol stopped two African Americans who were supposedly drinking and driving. Could you imagine being afraid for your life when you are stopped by the very people whose one job is to protect you.
