The solutions to the ongoing issue of racism is that if people were not ignorant of other cultures, and races , people could actually live in a world together in harmony, without racism. Until people can learn to respect on anther and not condemn them for their appearance or culture, a world of racism cannot die . The reason being Racism stems from ignorance that is present in the mind of people. racism is not something that is inherited , it is taught. the ignorance that was created many years ago have traveled from generation to generation, people have honestly just become ore accepting to it. if we can teach future generations to refrain from the ignorance and racist tendencies of older generations, one day we can reduce racism . Not
Systematic racism continues to perpetuate the marginalization of people of color in the 21st century despite belief of living in a post racial society. This unfortunate reality is seen in many different forms of current culture. One of the ways systematic racism takes current form, is in the negative portrayal created by a single narrative, or the lack thereof, minority groups. This lack of representation or diversity of people of color in different forms of art and platforms, not only affects those subject to misrepresentation, but perpetuates negative attitudes and discriminatory behavior towards those subject to misrepresentation. It is necessary to look into the ways this single narrative in different art forms affects marginalized group, and the current move to dismantle the component power plays in who gets to tell these stories.
There has been a problem in this world that seems to not have a solution: racism. Anything from segregating the blacks and whites into different schools to simply moving away from someone because they are an African-American or a Caucasian or an Arabian, is racist. Many times we have gotten close to eradicating racism, but it has always came back stronger than before. One example of this is the Plessy v Ferguson case. The mindset of blacks and whites being separate but equal is what mainly caused this court case to have such a large impact. The legislation of racism in the Plessy v Ferguson case made eradicating racism and reaching equality between whites and blacks even more difficult.
In Living Color: Race and American Culture, Michael Omi discusses that, “In contemporary television and film, there is a tendency to present and equate racial minority groups individuals with specific social problems. Blacks are associated with drugs and urban crime, Latinos with ‘illegal’ immigration, while Native Americans cope with alcoholism and tribal conflicts” (632).
Nigger and negro, the two most common words in To Kill a Mockingbird by everybody in Maycomb even the children say these two dreadful and hateful words towards black people but why? Jem, Scout, Dill and mostly every white man, women, and child in Maycomb like to say the word Nigger to black people ignorantly. They say nigger to black people because they feel as though that they have the right to call them that, and that black people shouldn’t even belong on the planet. But for what reason? Because black people deserve it, because black people had it coming to them, or is it complete and utter ignorance. The most important theme in To Kill a Mockingbird is knowledge vs. ignorance.
Racism has been a social issue for centuries in history, and the situation of it has been up and down a couple of times during the past few centuries. Speaking from my personal perspective, the issue of racism has been solved well than ever comparing with how bad this problem had been in other time periods in history. However, the improvement of elimination of racism is still not enough to solve this historical problem.
Finding solutions to concepts such as racism are tricky. There is no perfect fix for anything having to do with racism because it’s so rooted in our past as a country and is considered a very sensitive topic. The main issue with finding a solution is that everyone can not suddenly come to the conclusion that we all need to stop being racist. Obviously that would make life a whole lot easier, but this country is full of many different people who all have different beliefs and opinions. People who are racist can not be convinced to change at the drop of a hat, and sadly there are still many people out there who are genuinely racist. Even people who are not be labeled as racist can hold some kind of prejudice, whether they realize it or not. This
Racism is a problem blown out of proportion. Many believe that racism is the biggest problem that the world faces. Some even throw large nation-wide protests to complain about racism. In reality, all of these protests about racism do more harm than good. The violent protests staged by groups like Black Lives Matter, causing entire cities to shut down, people then lose their homes and businesses. Racism is a misinterpreted problem, too many people believe race gives them special privilege and, racism really cannot go away.
They deserve to live just like anyone else has the right to breath this world.
It is obisously stilla problem that lies in our socirty and I honestly thunk that it will be someday hopefully soon that it can be resolved. People to stop judging because ones skin color is different from another. And the raiscm is shapedd when the people are young. When your familt memers or freinds have racist opionions it is really common for people to judge yourselve. I personally do not tolerate racism and I don't talk with racist people. These people that are racist just need to learn more about the manydifferent cultures of this world and stop being so rude! Like is said racism is something that can be resolved, racists are not born racist, they are made that way by the people around them. It is really ssad that sytill today we as
In addition, racism is a reason for choosing a biology career. There are still some hospitals in different parts of the world where they value and cheat people based on their race, ethnicity, and religion. They snatch more money from people of color and who are impoverished. How they snatch more money from them? By authorizing inappropriate medical tests and doing medical experiments on them and capture as much money as they can. These poverty-stricken people don’t understand which tests are vital and which are not, hence these racist doctors take benefit of them. When I witness such type of activities happening around me it always occurred to me how I could avoid these things from happening thereupon, I forethought of being a doctor and open
However, that is not to say that one should ever stop trying to prevent racism in communities, schools, and workplaces. Racism will always create hatred, fear, and violence. One can not be a peaceful racist; there are always those negative effects. The most straightforward solution to racism would be to simply treat everyone with equal opportunity. However, due to seemingly uncontrollable fear of loss and displacement, ignorance, and a desire to be superior, it seems that there will always be some measure of racism in today’s world and minds. It is each individual’s job to prevent it as much as that individual
It all started in rush hour, a beautiful violin playing intricate music. The man drew his bow across the strings of his instrument at a metro station in Washington DC, while over a thousand people rushed by in a hurried fashion. Under ten took the time to stop and listen to the stunning melodies of Bach and around twenty tossed him money before running off. Not one person realized the miracle they were witnessing, as they were all too ignorant to realize that the man in the subway station was Joshua Bell -a highly praised musician, who just days earlier had played in a theatre where a single seat was worth over $100. The people were trapped in their own bubble, a small, tiny bubble compromised of their thoughts, knowledge and experiences.
In the early 1940’s my father, a Greek National was forced to move to the United States as a World War II political refugee. He served as a lieutenant and was recognized as an officer and part of the gorilla forces in the Greek Navy. Greece eventually was occupied by Germany and it was then that he was smuggled into England by allied forces. A couple years later he moved to the United States and made his way to San Francisco where he met his wife, a Greek Sicilian woman from Modesto. They made their home in San Francisco in a predominantly Anglo-Saxon neighborhood. It was there in the city of diversity that he and my mother first experienced racism.
Jackie Robinson, Joe Louis, and Hank Greenberg all faced some sort of racism during their lives and their professional careers. Racism was found in every sport between the 1930s and the 1950s. Some sports hid the racism better than the others did. The role of racism and ethnicity in American sport did not change significantly between the 1930s and the 1950s.
Ignorance can be defined as the lack of knowledge, experience, and information, or what I would say to be the most fatal feature in the human race. I am a control freak, for lack of better words. My childhood was filled with many uncontrollable events (divorce, moving, death, and injuries). So, starting in 7th grade I began to plan my entire life, in hopes of controlling the uncontrollable. As a college Junior, I still continue to solidify many life plans; where I will work after college, who I will marry, how the proposal will go, what food I will have at my wedding, how many children I will have, what kind of car I will drive, and where my future home will be. This is what you call insanity and ignorance.
