Welcome to your new Read 180 class; You should get used to this class soon. I think in my opinion that this class should be easy for you, and you could get out of the class next year and get to a new language arts class with no Read 180.Hopefully, you will get a grade in this class that you will be satisfied with.I do hope that you do get better classmates than me, because I have one class mate who yells at you, even though you're close by her since you're in a small class room.I have someone who believes that dolphins are smarter than humans.Thankfully there are just a few of these people, but they are still annoying. But if you do get these people in this class; just be thankful that you don't have people who are worse than these people,
Is there ever an instance when a M.Ed. cohort student does not have to take EDUC 635? I have had 2 students, 1 reading and 1 C&I, call to ask if they need to take 635. The C&I student said his professor talked about 630 being different for those taking 635 and those not. The reading student said 635 did not show on her advising sheet, which it does on all the advising sheets I have. The first time I was asked the question, I assumed there was some confusion with the professor, but when I got the same question twice in 2 days it made me wonder if I had missed something.
Wednesday, September 2, 2015 was our first SWK 305 class day. In order to break the ice between all of the students in class Professor Lori Spector had everyone go around introducing themselves, we had to say our names and a adjective describing us using the first letter of our name, I am Radiant Rose. I thought this icebreaker was creative because at the end of the class even if I haven’t remembered the persons name I did remember the adjective they used. The next activity was to get familiar with someone in your group and introduce him or her to the rest of the class. Being that my group was composed of a trio I assume we had a different experience than those who had a pair. This exercise helped me create connections with some of my peers,
January of 2017 I started taking an English Comp II class. I was very hesitant about it because I knew I wasn't so good in writing. Coming into the class with a little bit of knowledge was good but I still am not a good writer or where I should be at this point. All the assignments the teacher give is kind of complicated for me because i just can’t come up with ideas to help me start and get through my paper. I wish i could focus better and be able to write papers.
In conclusion, we have learned a lot about diversities and different cultures in this English 1050 class, including all the different students that we learned about through the weekly discussions. I love to read the weekly post because everyone has different opinions that I can learn. I came from Asia and living in America, and I think in my life experience, I experienced a lot about the diversity and ethnicity issue. To change that and use Ethnicity to bring people together is the big issue nowadays. Might to find some common ground and realize we are all the same. At the very core of our being, we are people, and it is up to us to find ways we can unite and become stronger as a complete whole. Finally, thanks for everyone who fought with
Before taking English 1301 class, I was a light writer. I mostly enjoyed writing poetry, short stories, and a did a little bit of journaling here and there. Many of my writings were about my own personal feelings and were used as stress relievers, or for other therapeutic reasons. I am a very emotional writer, by this I mean I like to show a lot of emotion behind my writings. While taking English 1301, I had to write academic essays. This caused quite a bit of struggle for me, as I was unable to show emotion and I had to grow accustomed to writing with a larger vocabulary and writing papers that were longer than half a page or so. I struggled with finding the words to say, and suffered from writer’s block. I got over this slump within the first three to four weeks of class, and felt more capable of writing academic essays.
During my first quarter in Honors English 10, I have had my deal of frustration and struggles with the class, along with some success and prosperity. I have found many of my strengths, and plenty of my weaknesses; that I would enjoy building upon for the rest of the school year to come. Although the profuse advice provided by many of my teachers and peers is absolutely valuable (and appreciated), I fancy finding my own way to complete tasks; though it may be an insufficient way.
English is language used worldwide. Most people around the world use this language to communicate with others. Some people learn English so they can use today's advanced technology. Varied groups learn English to communicate with their children so they won't have a communication gap between parents and the children. I learned English for my education. I want to improve my English to get my GED or high school diploma. Before taking this class, I was shy to talk with other people and I had a lot of problems to write notes to my children's teachers. I couldn't help my children with their homework even though they were in elementary school. ESOL 30 helped me write better and now, I write to their teachers at ease and I can help my children. I have been studying English in Miramar College for one year. I believe most of my improvement occurred this semester. This specific class had a great effect on my
With completing the half of the semester in the ENGL 160 class, I was able to benefit from a variety of new things from the class. The first time when I came into the class I had a fear that my grammar level doesn’t meet teacher’s requirements, as well as my essays will be simple and I would have “C” in this class. Moreover, I’m international student that is way I was uncertain of my English and I was thinking that during the class period I would understand only 50% of information, but fortunately I get all information from class.
During my day, I go to the classes that I always go. As usual, I stay silent and I do my work. Unlike the other classmates who usually talk constantly, I stay quiet. Some of my classmates find it weird that I don't talk much. In one of my honors classes, I feel like a misfit because I feel like I don't fit in with the others. They find me mysterious, almost like a freak. When I disagree with their ideas, I don't say anything because they'll think I'm the bad guy.
ENGL 101 class is on my study schedule for this semester. This class runs over writing academic researches for college. As a student for this class, I can give my reflection about this course. This reflection might be a useful for the future. Because when the educators know about some of students’ challenges during this course, they could overcome those problem next time. Also, they would give more attention for student’s needs. Through this reflection, I would write some benefits points form studying this course, descript the challenges that I have faced in this course.
At the beginning of this semester, in Academic Foundations, I expected to learn about transitioning to college and strategies that would help me succeed throughout college. Transitioning into college required less than what I thought. Getting used to the new environment was not as difficult as I had imagined. I was able to meet new people who are transitioning into college just like me, people of all different backgrounds. I also met many other students who made me realize how fun college could be. In this class, many new techniques that I obtained on how to succeed, include managing my time, new study strategies and many more. This class was not difficult at all, it was easier than I expected, and it definitely taught me a lot about being
English is an international language and it is almost compulsory in many countries. In my eight week of English 151B class, I have learned that how important it is for a college student to write effectively while arranging proper thoughts in a paragraph. It is very important to focus yourself while writing about a topic. I have learned about the importance of writing in a good organized way with proper punctuation.
Education 190 was definitely the most interesting course I have taken at Berkeley thus far. Christyna and the course assistants did a great job in providing the students with a true democratic education experience. A course that is engaging, democratic, and stimulating is a valuable addition to Berkeley courses, many of which execute a straight-forward test banking approach to teaching. I was always excited to go to this class because we would be performing different activities each day. The only thing I regret is that this class was not extended to Fridays. What I liked most is that this class makes it a point to emphasize learning over everything else. In Berkeley, students are led to believe that their grades determine their self-worth.
This year in English II CP, we are analyzing our class syllabus. The three main concepts that stand out to me are measurable course objectives, rules and expectations and the late work policy. This year we will have improvements of reading, writing, and grammar in this course. In this English II class, the three most important things are objectives, rules and expectations, make up and late work policy.
Everything is an accurate representation of me as a student except for sophomore year. Sophomore year, my grades dipped do to an unfortunate event that took up lots of my time and focus. During sophomore year my parents were going through with a divorce that was both nasty and prolonged. It took up a lot of my emotional, physical, and mental efforts that year moving my focus from school to my home life. Hearing them argue and yell at each other all the time was incredibly taxing and moving between living with my father and my mother every week was something new. My head simply was not where it needed to be and I often stayed up late at night doing homework and often forgetting to turn in assignments. I spent most of my time away from homes
