No matter how high level you are, how much gear you've collected and the experience you've had it means nothing in the face of friendship. Friendship is the true hidden power in Ready Player One By Ernest Cline an amazing book that was very enjoyable to read over the summer. In this essay I will be answering the topic question "In what way is friendship the true power in Ready Player One?"
Firstly let's talk about the Oasis. the Oasis is a virtual world that has basically become "life" for many people across the world. Now what is something important for life? The answer is friendship, friendship is a necessity in life as it helps form connections and bonds between people that can help you along later down the line. If the Oasis is "life" then this theme also translates into the game. My point is that friendship is a very important "true power" in the Oasis and without it Wade would have failed the egg hunt. My first example for how friendship is true power is on (pg.205 Ernest Cline) "You two should keep the Beta Capsule, I said.....They were both surprised and

What I mean by this is that no matter how hard Wade searched he had no clue on the location of the Jade key, nothing in the game could help, no gear, no amount of money only friendship. The only reason he was able to find the Jade key was through a clue that was given to him by his friend Aeche. (pg.225 Ernest Cline)"Dear Parzival, You and I are officially even now, got that? i consider my debt to you hereby paid in full. Better hurry. The Sixers must already be on their way there, good luck, Aeche. Below his signature was an image file he'd attached to the message. It was a high-resolution scan."This is a perfect example of how friendship is true power because without the friendship between Aeche and Wade, Aeche wouldn't give a hint to Wade and thus Wade would never have found the
Friendship describes the mutual pledge to help reveal the innermost workings of a person, bringing out the hidden attributes and validity of one’s characteristics. Subsequently, the bonds and struggles of friendship are a central cause for unveiling identity as the relationship one makes contributes to long-lasting change. The acceptance of a person’s differences conveys an importance for the development of strong bonds. Moreover, hardships accompanying relationships establish times to reflect on oneself and lead to positive outcomes for growth. Furthermore, the memorable journeys embed an area in one’s mind that will change the way self-perspective is seen. Through the characters of Lewis in If I Ever Get Out Of Here by Eric Gansworth and
In order to complete the first part of the gate, Wade had to beat the score of “728,329” on a game called Tempest, with “Only one credit”(pg.359). He could never have done it, as “[it] is not [his] best game”(pg.358), and “[has]n’t played Tempest in years”(pg.359) but Art3mis provided a bug that would give him “forty free credits”(pg.360). Without that tip, “There [was] no way [Wade’s] [was]going to beat [the] high score”(pg.359). Wade's friends provided moral support before he entered the gate as well. They said things like “Good luck” and “Do your best.” The crystal gate was a very big moment for Wade, and his friends were there to support him on the way.
While many obstacles get in the way of friendship, true friendship still lives, even in silence. In the book, The Chosen , By Chaim Potok, two boys, Reuven Malter and Danny Saunders, who are very religiously different and both raised in completely opposite ways, develops a deep friendship. One such value of friendship that is demonstrated to be of major importance throughout the novel is loyalty, and how important it truly is to a friendship. Furthermore, the novel also demonstrates how vital support is as a value of friendship, and how it can both amend and create them. On top
Friendship opens our minds to different views and perspectives and change our perceptions. It has the power to change people’s views on life in a positive way. Friendship. What is friendship? Wikipedia defines friendship as “a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people. Friendship is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association.”, which is exactly what I think is friendship. I know most of my friends for many, many years and throughout these years we had fights and good moments and this is what forms this strong “interpersonal bond” also known as friendship. In our novel Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet Henry and his friends faces different challenges throughout the story which strengthens their ties. In Jamie Ford’s novel Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Ford communicates the theme that friendship is needed especially during difficult times through the character’s actions in the books.
The theme of friendship courses through Chaim Potok’s book, The Chosen. Potok desires to show the reader what a strong friendship looks like and how it stands up to the test of time. When two people know each other well and spend a lot of time together, there are bound to be misunderstandings, fights, and other trials. Yet God says in His word “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (New American Standard Bible, Proverbs 27:17) Even when friendships are difficult, they can “sharpen” the people involved in the friendship, like in the case of Danny and Reuven. Danny and Reuven’s friendship lasts through Danny’s irrational behavior, Reuven’s outbursts of anger, and Reb Saunders’s absurd beliefs.
Friendships can be positive or negative. A good friend is supportive, kind and trustworthy. However, a negative friendship can cause a bad influence and habits. Finny and Gene have many qualities that combine to create a terrible friendship. They are not supportive of each others decisions and are very envious of the others abilities. Throughout the novel, Gene’s friendship with Finny becomes unhealthy and detrimental.

“We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, that is a last drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindness there is at last one which makes the heart run over” (Bradbury, 71)
From humanity comes friendship, but friendship may not be as one-dimensional and simplistic as the common person believes it to be- it may not stop at the surface level. In David Whyte’s book, Consolations: The Solace, Nourishment and Underlying Meaning of Everyday Words, he writes on friendship, exposing the true facets of an authentic friendship that oftentimes are overlooked by many people. In Whyte’s opinion, friendship is an eternal experience, or at least an experience in which people take part over an extended period of time. The need for continuous support and forgiveness from and for both parties in a friendship presupposes this prolonged temporality. Naturally, as friendships take constant conscious effort, they require interest

Trustworthiness, dependency, and advices are all valuable ideas that must exist in friendship as it helps realize the importance of a friend. People can acknowledge the worth of each other, and also appreciate from their existence, which can lead to an evolution in their friendships. But it can also be a way to consider the standard of a good friend – a true friend. The author analytically motivates readers to wonder about how much of these values their friendships convey, and by utilizing his conceptual meaning of a true friend, Steinbeck translates that a real friend is whom that you can trust, depend on, and take good advices from. Steinbeck in conclusion, further alludes readers to look back upon their friends, and to consider how many “real” friends are besides them

It takes two friends actively being friends to each other for the relational good of friendship to occur (Fowers, 2005). In real life there is no taking turns in “doing” friendship between friends because it is a shared good.
