Originally introduced in New Zealand in 1861, Red Deer (Cervus elaphus), were released for sport. By 1910, it was clear to natives that the deer were creating a negative impact on the environment. Feeding areas were becoming bare and there was flooding due to the loss of soil from erosion (Drew). Animals that are introduced to their non-native environments and cause harm are known as invasive species. In addition to New Zealand, this invasive species has also been introduced to North and South America and Australia, causing similar damaging effects.
Red Deer are originally from Eurasia, belonging in the temperate grassland biome. The ecosystems the Red Deer would typically be found in are forests, mountain ridges, or open grasslands. Red Deer
Central Plains is well known to be the “corn and wheat belt of the bread basket”, due to its numerous farms that produce amount of the nation supply. It has also create a gigantic amount of dairy in central plains, that helps wisconsin's becoming producing the most cheese of any state in the country. Central Plains have develop from many different cultures such as Native American tribes identify ways of harvesting and preparing crops, where the Native Americans demonstrate these technique to the Europeans. And many of these procedure can be seen in today’s Midwest society.
An invasive species is a species that comes out of its natural environment, and enters another. These animals are usually very bad for the ecosystem and may cause an unbalance. These animals usually come in with many competitive advantages and can easily dominate any competition. This will give them the ability to eat as much as they would like without being threatened in any way. This could possibly diminish many populations and end an entire ecosystem.
Montana is a large and lovely state. It has a population of 1,005,141 people. The big sky of Montana covers more than 147,046 square miles. It is considered the fourth largest state in the nation. I have made several great contributions to Buckeye Trail High School. I was a part of the schools levy committee, I got good grades, and I am one of the many representative of what good students come from the school. I mailed out letters and was on the Buckeye Trail Levy Committee. I have gotten good grades every year that I went there, when I went to MidEast, and also at Belmont College. I am one representative of what great students come from Buckeye Trail High School.
In the city of Longtown,Ohio,Founded by James Clemens,is a peaceful place where blacks and white did not discriminate each other, or at least it use to be. Now,the people of Longtown are fading from the world and White settlers are buying their land.Longtown was made by James Clemens,a freed slave from the state of Virginia, made this settlement so whites and blacks can live in harmony and peace together, but now that everyone is dying and settlers are buying their land, James’ great grandson,Connor Keiser, is trying to keep the way of life going or in other words Connor Keiser said,” We were the usual Longtown family. We all look different, and we were taught that color didn’t matter. As long as I have anything to do with it,Longtown
In days long when many non-whites were racially segregated , and/or discriminated, making a colored community was unthinkable. That was until one man named James Clemens, a freed slave, broke that barrier, and established Longtown Ohio. The uniqueness of the community, though, was that it was a sanctuary for many different races that were unfit for other communities. This was a place where many different races could interact with each other peacefully. If Riverside, or even our country as a whole had this type of ideology, then there is a likelihood that we would all live in harmony, and safety. It's time we take some ideas from Longtown, and apply them to our country/Riverside. An article published by The Washington Post, “ Ohio Town holds rare history: Races
The term Redskin refers to the bloody scalps of Native American children, women, and men(Hawks). They were hunted by bounty hunters where they were killed and then scalped. They received awards when they traded in the redskins. These bounty hunters when they hunted them down the Native American skin was referred to animal skin. The Native American mascots should be removed from sports because they are offensive, confusing, and they don't truly represent the team.

Red Rodney was a famous trumpeter and bandleader in the 20th century. He was born in Philadelphia on the 27th of September 1927 and was known as a child prodigy when he was young (Voce, 2011). At the beginning, Red Rodney taught himself the trumpet and later he went to a school named “Jules E. Masterbaum Vocational” in his hometown Philadelphia to study trumpet (Schwab, 2010). Red started playing with Jerry World Orchestra only at the age of 15 and then he also played with Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey and Gene Krupa (Chesky Records, n.d.). Red’s life was changed because of Dizzy Gillespie, who was Red’s hero when he was a teenager. Red was able to play a gig with Dizzy Gillespie one time at the Down Beat Club and he left Dizzy a lasting impression.

With an estimated 19,520 deer maimed, dying gruesome, inhumane deaths at the hands of British Columbia drivers every year a solution needs to be found (“The Facts”). With the over population of deer in Victoria, a sight becoming more common, is the carcass of a deer which has been impaled by the bumper of an unfortunate motorist. These deaths are not only cruel and inhumane for the deer but also pose a danger to the motorist’s. The danger which deer pose to cyclists is one that cannot be overlooked. Cyclists do not have the added protection that motorist’s enjoy and are at higher risk of serious injury when a collision occurs. The menace rutting deer expose children and pets to is a
Influence on ecosystems range from human causes like the bulldozing of a forest to natural causes like a fire or a flood. In recent times, the introduction and spread of invasive species has transformed native communities rapidly and, in some cases, created irreversible damages. In the Earth’s history, changes have often occurred in the ecosystems. For example, glaciers and the retreat of glaciers cause wide-spread changes. However, although change is a constant in ecosystems, animals and habitats often cannot adapt to the rapid alterations of non-natural stresses. Harm to the environment from the introduction of invasive species occurs through changes in the habitat and declines in the native species. Invasive species
Invasive species is a term that is used both for plants and animals. In general, it refers to the introduction of a non-native species into an environment in which because there are no predators tend to dominate the ecosystem and adversely affect the habitat. The overall issue is that the environment becomes out of balance and out of control due to the lack of any natural controls on reproduction or spread. This can be predators or herbivores, and in a world of global commerce, and despite attempts to control, have become problems in many areas (USDA, 2012). One interesting and often quoted example surrounds the plants and animals brought to Mesoamerica during the voyages of Columbus in 1492 often called "The Columbian Exchange." Not all non-native species were dangerous, but because of the lack of controls in certain ecosystems, many plants and animals tended to overpopulate or harbor diseases that indigenous peoples and animals had no natural immunity to (See Figure 1).
Invasive species are organisms that are not native to an ecosystem and cause harm to it. These organisms are capable of bringing about a great deal of damage to the ecosystems they are foreign to. This can range from disrupting the growth of the environment it has taken over to completely decimating other species. The introduction of invasive species to new environments often involves humans. The way that invasive species are introduced to a new environment varies greatly. Invasive species may be introduced by something as simple as humans accidentally tracking species into a new environment from the bottom of their shoes, or something bigger like destroying an ecosystem to clear the land, forcing the species that lived there to flee to a new ecosystem that can be disrupted by the presence of a new species.
