WOOSTER — A longstanding manufacturer of fittings and couplings for the fire and emergency services received a job creation tax credit based on its plan to add 30 jobs over the next three years. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved the request Monday in Columbus with Rod Crider, authority member and president of Wayne Economic Development Council, voting in support of it. Shreve-based RHBA Acquisitions/Red Head Brass, Shreve, will receive more than $22,000 in tax credits. It will receive a portion of the credit with each job created. Red Head Brass was acquired by a private equity firm in late 2015, and President Tim Lautermilch has been very proactive in trying to identify programs to help the manufacturer grow, said Shawn Starlin, a project manager with the …show more content…

Red Head Brass was fortunate to receive a grant for new job creation, President Tim Lautermilch said. JobsOhio helped with the tax credit support. “Rod Crider and his team here in Wayne County were supportive and guided us in the process,” Lautermilch said. “We feel Wayne County is a good location and has allowed us good opportunities to hire and build our business.” The company has about 10 people this past year, bringing the total number of workers to about 60, Lautermilch said. The plan is to add a second shift. Those already brought on board are part of the company’s plan to hire around a dozen workers this year. The growth is expected to come from an increase in market share, largely in the firefighting industry, Lautermilch added. Red Head Brass will also look to diversify its product offerings and markets into related industries. Lautermilch described the atmosphere at Red Head Brass as “exciting,” and Starlin would agree.
