There is a reoccurring theme I took from all the readings in this course, and that is that there is more to engineering than just designing. You have to look at every project you have from all perspectives, and it is very important for you to take all things into account. I chose this Systems analysis diagram because it was a good way for me to group certain main ideas into three main categories of thought. Thinking ethically, thinking before you act, and viewing your projects as a two-way street are all very important when working on in the engineering field.
Thinking ethically has been widely discussed in this course. There are many conceptions of what defines ethics, but I think ultimately it means the greater good for all. In Catalano’s Engineering Ethics: Peace, Justice, and the Earth, he states that in order to be ethical, you must think Morally Deep. He writes, “A living being is best thought of not as a thing of some sort, but as a living system, an ongoing life-process.” (Catalano, 2006). I have referenced this many times this semester because I think it is a crucial to expanding your idea of all things to be considered. With a morally deep approach, it forces you to consider all “living beings” which are ongoing life processes not just breathing organisms. How can one live an ethical life? Most humans strive to live in a good and kind way; however, deciding right from wrong depends on the person's own moral and ethical code. Ethics, as described by a team at Santa Clara University, ¨refers to well-founded standards of right and wrong that prescribe what humans ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to society, fairness, or specific virtues.¨ However living an ethical life can mean different things to different people, one ultimate ethical code can not fit every person. According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, ethics is defined as “moral principles that govern a person’s or group’s behavior.” Therefore, in an ideal world, ethics should play the ultimate role when making a decision. If ethics are the principles which guides one’s behavior then, ideally, all decisions should be made entirely based on ethics. Unfortunately, such is not always the case.
The action of the environment was ethical because even though the ecological activists did not mean for anyone to get hurt. The ecological activists were being reckless and did not care or think about consequences of their action. Ethical teach people different between right and wrong. To take an ethical approach to living I believe we must follow a duty-based and Common Good approach. The duty-based approach is associated with the philosopher Immanuel Kant. Kant argued that doing what is right is not about the consequences of our actions but about having the proper intention in performing the action. The categorical imperative is Kant famous formula for discovering our ethical duty. The categorical imperative states that we must act as if what we do is universal law for everyone else. The common good approach is associated with the philosopher Plato. Plato states that in our actions we should always do what is best for the most number of people.
Within-participants designs is when a researcher have all the participate in both levels of the independent variable and conditions. The strength of within-participants designs is that it does not require a large pool of participants and can also help reduce errors associated with individual differences. Each participant serves as his or her own baseline. One of the weaknesses is that the sheer act of having participants take part in one condition can impact performance or behavior on all other conditions. Utilitarian theory - We all have some ultimate end that is called utility. An action is ethical only if no other available action creates greater total utility.

Here I want to discuss what is System analysis and design, when and where the concepts are used and how to overcome the problems using these concepts. The methodology of using characterizing the parts, structural engineering, interfaces and information for a framework to fulfil the decided necessities is said as system design. This course is helpful in developing the designing and analysing skills. Overall, system analysis and design is said as analysing and designing the different process.

In The Work: Searching for a Life That Matters, Wes Moore shares his inspirational journey in discovering his path to purpose by not only living a prosperous life, but a meaningful one. In addition to sharing the profound measures taken to learn his life’s worth through valor and service, Moore shares acts of humanitarianism taken by family members and entrepreneurs, contributing to his success. Leaving his mark on society, Moore effectively delivers a moral lesson: mankind is inevitably intertwined and uniting valuable teachings from all walks of life creates an individual’s path to triumph. Nonetheless, living a life of meaning involves existing for more than yourself, creating the freedom to pursue happiness, success and truly live. Prior to reading The Work, I read Moore’s first book, The Other Wes Moore, of in which I consider an intriguing follow up of the first. Moreover, both Dr. Skye Paine lecture introducing passion as one of the key concepts of the book, meeting and shortly conversing with Moore at the diversity conference simply solidified and confirmed my ideologies of him and his message. His humbly vibrant, inquisitive and welcoming character made both his story and persona open, illuminating and pertinent. In reading The Work, I agreed with his creeds and did not gain a new understanding, but the reassurance of my understanding.
My family and I commonly go to Curtis Hixon Park and Kiley Gardens, they are extremely family friendly and very welcoming. The specific day I went to observe the parks was on Tuesday, July 25th around 4 pm. I sat in the parks for an hour, analyzing the architecture and people who walked by. From the time i sat on a bench observing I noticed many people walked by, all whom were from different demographics. Curtis Hixon is a great family park, it has an open field and a playground, which is equipped with modern toys that aren't typically seen in regular playgrounds. If you walk just a step away from the playground there will be misty fountains, and at the front of the park there are additional water fountains. In Front of the the park there is a gorgeous view of Tampa Bay, where you will commonly see the crew team from UT or private boats just roaming around. The Kiley Gardens are less busy than Curtis Hixon, but that's simply because it has different elements. The Kiley Gardens provide a peaceful serenity on an elevated platform to easily catch a view of the bay. What is the significance and value of the park and garden? Why is it important that they exist in downtown Tampa's urban environment? I'll be answering these questions by firstly analyzing the architecture in these spaces, second by looking at the atmosphere in the parks, and thirdly discovering their unique qualities. Throughout the majority of my education, including college, I have felt like a passive member of the classroom. Teachers saw me as a clear slate that needed to be filled with information. I consumed countless facts, and memorized numerous processes, most of them not being my own. This approach to teaching has proven to be unsuccessful to the goals of education. Students are diverse, with their own learning styles and their own knowledge that they bring to the table, and these should be supported and expanded on in the classroom. The goal of education is to support learners and thinkers, and not to condition minds to all think the same ways.
