After taking the time to reflect on the interview I believe that Kristen Hall and Dana Scalisi got to know me very well during our brief time together. We spoke about my work experience in the sports industry, my leadership roles in Young Life, and my long term goals after completing my MBA. I enjoyed our conversation regarding my roles and responsibilities for the Detroit Lions, specifically about the various pricing models that I use and the different components that go into them. However, due to the limited time we had together, there were a few points I wish I could have expanded upon. During our conversation regarding my work for the NFL Strategic Investment Fund, I wish that I would have expanded more on the overall goal of the project
I interviewed Ashley Porras, a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Sharp Rees Stealy. She gave me background information of how she got into the healthcare system, great advice and what she does on a daily basis. The reason I chose Ashley as the person to interview was because I got the chance to spend the day with her at work and I loved it. I found it interesting what she did and got the opportunity to learn more about her, her occupation and where she see’s herself in the future. Someday, I would be an LVN and gradually get higher in the healthcare field like she is doing now.
I interviewed Durward “Durk” Lynch he is in my field of interest where I want to work as one day. He is a Nurse Practitioner at the Vanden Bosh Clinic and at the College Clinic. He gave information on his background and what drove him to be a Nurse Practitioner (NP). He really has had a lot of experience, as I will explain to you what he has shared.
I started off the interview by getting to know a little bit more about Schelzia. She received her undergraduate degree from Baylor University which is a private Christian university and a nationally raked research institution, located in Texas. She also received her graduate degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University. When she moved out to Wisconsin, she applied to UW-Waukesha and has been working in her current position for almost two years. She applied to this position because one thing that peaks her interest is student retention.
I enjoyed doing the interview, mainly because I love to learn about people. It felt a little strange to interview a friend of my daughter, especially knowing I could not share anything with my daughter due to confidentiality. Even though I have a house full of teenagers on most days and we talk I was still unsure how this interview would workout. I felt the interview went great and we were both relaxed and open with one
I had the privilege to interview a member of the HR department at Liberty Diversified, International (LDI). LDI is a family of seven companies in different markets such as: custom packaging solutions (Harbor Packaging), retail solutions (Immedia), and office furnishings and solutions (Safco), to name a few. Being a freshman at the Carlson School I was really nervous about this assignment because I didn’t want to make a bad impression by interviewing someone I had no connections with. Thus, I decided to interview Erin Hanson who is and HR specialist for Liberty Diversified, International who aligns with their workplace furniture and solutions business Safco. Erin is actually a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities so it was really cool to have the opportunity to meet an alumnus. I met with Erin because I have a relative in Safco who works as a business analyst who was able to set a meeting with her and even drive me to it. I asked Erin a series of ten questions relating to various facets of HR that we had discussed in class prior to my meeting with her.
The reason I choice to interview Michelle is because I have been with her for most of her journey in getting to her dream job. Razo is our Human resource assistant, but is working to become our onsite human resource one day. Her ultimate goal is to have her own human resource consultant business. She feels it would help her community out to help the small businesses that cannot afford an onsite HR manager. She started off in the medical field as a manager for a billing office, there she learned the hardship people
After the game I had the opportunity to interview head coach Erik Spoelstra, veteran Udonis Haslem
For this journal, I will reflect on the three interviews and highlight the answers from each. Let’s take a look.
You are a very straight shooter and I appreciate the fact that you took time out of your day to share in your experience and to talk. Your level of engagement in our conversation was both enlightening and candid. If given the opportunity, I hope that I can use my experience to contribute to your organization.
Having the opportunity to interview Mary Kate, Doug Davis, and students in the class have helped me become more comfortable with interviewing while also teaching me what successfully works during an interview and what doesn’t. One thing that I have learned that works for me while interviewing would be asking questions about personal experiences
I wanted to make sure that I covered a broad area of topics with the questions I asked so as to not make the interview seem too serious. Listed below are the questions.
He shook my hand with confidence and seemed at ease throughout the interview. He was able to answer all of my questions and never seemed “over the top” in his answers.
My interviewee was Billie Zody, MD. Her specific job title is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist (OB-GYN). This type of doctor specializes in women’s reproductive health. They are responsible for caring for women during their pregnancy and just after the baby is born. Zody has been a practicing OB-GYN since 2003. She originally worked in Arizona but decided to return to her home state of Indiana. She currently works at the Bloomington Hospital by IU Health, in the specialized OB-GYN branch.
From this interview I was also able to talk with two people my mother and with Lisa. Lisa grew up with my family
For my Sport Manager Interview I interviewed Mr. Matt Seibring who is an Assistant Director in Competitive Sports. I asked Mr. Matt questions that related to his job and basically to help prepare and give me advice for my career plans in the future.
