For this week's essay I had the ability to learn about stress and the different categories that people can fall into. People who experience stress more are categorized as type A people why people who are less prone to these stresses are categorized as type B people. After talking the quiz I learned that I scored a 267. This places me in the low type A range. This was little bit of a surprise to me because I don't consider myself to be an over stressed person. I then thought about what causes me stress and possible ways of being able to change my life style to help lessen the stress I experience. In this essay I am going to share about what some of my major stresses are, how I reduce stress and finally I will share a time when I was more of a type A person than a type B person.
When it comes to what stresses me in life it is the normal things at many college students experience. I often find myself worrying about my grades and if I am doing well in school. One major thing that I often find myself stressing over is if I am on track to graduate in a decent amount of time. I understand that college is not something that can be finished over night but I always want to make sure that I am moving at a decent pace to ensure that I wont be here for ever. To help reduce this stress I often check my degree audit report to ensure I am on track. Another way I cope with this concern is by making sure I talk with my advisors when it comes time to make my schedule for the next semester. I
Stress and anxiety in the average college student. Selye (1936) defined stress as “the non-specific response of the body to any demand for change” (The American Institute of Stress, 2017). Stress can lead to feelings of anxiety. Anxiety is a normal part of life, but can be considered a type of worry or fear that can inhibit everyday life. College students show higher stress/anxiety than average individuals. Major sources of stress are from new responsibilities, campus living, money issues, and classwork (Ross, Niebling, & Heckert, 1999). There have been a number of studies circled around how stress can affect college students. Females and males show differences in anxiety/stress in college. (Misra and McKean (2000)) found that females
There are many different broad definitions of stress and how to cope with it, known as stress management.
In my work place setting, I work for a agency who works with families with children that are autistic or have behavioral problems. Moreover, with my job being an agency there are significant amount of flaws within this organization. Agencies in general seem to have many flaws. Furthermore, I experience a few stressors that effect me daily. One stressor that I experience is having to go to weekly supervision every Friday without pay. This is a stressor for me because my job location is not as close to my house, granted about 25 minutes from my home. So, the stress for me is driving all the way to my job location just to speak on actions of my client that are consistent each week. Other jobs that I have applied to previously compensate their workers for supervision weekly or give the option to have phone conferences about our clients.
The major stress in my life is chores. This only because I have so much to remember. I am a forgetful person. My mom will tell me certain things to do and I’ll forget them. This makes mom mad and I get in trouble. This affects me emotionally by making me sad. I also run my mind ragged trying to remember. My mom will give me 4 chores and I’ll remember 1 one of them. If I do not get them done, my mom take my phone and ground me. I wish I could remember everything so I wouldn’t get in trouble. I get affected physically because the stress makes me tired and sometimes I stress eat. I sleep alot and I gain weight a lot. I am skinny but I do gain weight. I don’t really manage my stress. Sometimes I try to write down the chores my parents tell me. I just don’t remember to everytime.
I am my own worst enemy when it comes to time management. I know what has to be accomplished for the day and I usually always run out of time. I have five teenagers still at home and while they are a huge help majority of the time there are days that they are very tempormental. If they are having an off day they argue over any little thing, which tends to knock the evening schedule off its axis. I am a full time student with the usual everyday life activities as well as after school sports. I am an organizer and while my home is organized my time schedule is not. When things do not flow smoothly I tend to get very stressed.
According to “The American Institute of Stress” there are numerous emotional and physical disorders that we have with our health. (The American Institute of Stress;IAS) Stress can overrule and overwhelm people's lives. The definition of stress for most people depend on the negative feelings and emotions they produce. Here in a few moments i’m going to explain how. There are so many gestures and indications that are with stress. People don’t think they could be stressed out so easily, dealing with work, school, working at home,feeding/supporting a family, and, animals to take care of. Most people get stressed to the max; because, they don’t have enough time to do all the chores they need to get done, in an amount of time that is needed.

I kept a stress log for two weeks, which helped me lower my amount of daily stress. Distress and eustress are both essential for survival. They cause a person to react differently in demanding situations. Good stress is helpful in keeping us productive and motivated to accomplish our goals. “Stress can sometimes be a positive, motivating force that can improve the quality of our lives. This kind of stress, called eustress”(PSY101-12.1). This kind of stress is helpful in bringing the best out of an individual. For example, eustress helps us prepare for an event, in the same way a boxer would train heavily to be in the best physical shape possible for his big fight. The stress would motivate the boxer to get up early and train everyday for a positive outcome of his fight and to be victorious the night of his bout. “But

Earlier in the quarter we were asked to make a list about things that stresses out. I have always considered myself the type of person that rarely stresses over anything, so it was difficult to write some down. After keeping track of stressors in my life for 10 days, I realized that I do stress about issues more than I ever considered. Before this class, stress was not something I took into great consideration. To my understanding, if you were suffering from stress that meant that you had serious conditions like insomnia, weight gain, depressions or others things of that nature. This class has taught me otherwise and now I am more conscious about my interactions with stressors. In this paper, I will discuss my experience with stressors, how I managed to cope with stressors, and what I learned as a result of this class so far.
Each person suffers from stress at some point in their life whether it is short-term or chronic. The way I would describe stress would be an excess of pressure one feels in everyday life. This can be caused by deadlines, illness, change, emotional problems, etc. Everyone has different coping mechanisms to manage stress, but not all methods of coping are healthy. The stress management course at the College of Western Idaho has taught me the proper ways of handling stress. Based on the coping methods I have learned this semester, I have developed a three-month holistic stress management strategy and plan.
Stress is an ongoing dilemma that occurs in each and everyone’s life. It is a factor that is undoubtedly a part of daily living. At one time or another, most people experience stress. The term stress has been used to describe a variety of negative feelings and reactions that accompany threatening or challenging situations. However, not all stress reactions are negative. A certain amount of stress is actually necessary for survival. For example, birth is one of the most stressful experiences of life. The high level of hormones released during birth, which are also involved in the stress response, are believed to prepare the newborn infant for adaptation to the challenges of life outside the womb. These biological responses to stress make the newborn more alert promoting the bonding process and, by extension, the child's physical survival.
