1) Skill 1: Verbal Communication
When I was working in Walt Disney World as a cast member my main role was helping guests check out and answering their questions. Most of the guests that came to the parks were not from Florida. We had many families who were traveling even from other countries and this was some of their first times in the United States. This diverse group of people meant that there was a variety of different languages spoken. I needed to adapt and tell guests the price of items and give directions in another way besides speaking English. I took note of how the other cast members, who had been there longer than me, were communicating with others. I learned that pointing at numbers and writing down prices is a great way to tell a guest their total. When it came to giving directions I immediately grabbed a map and started to point at significant landmarks, like the castle, to show them were we were and what direction they needed to head. The tools helped me become a more efficient cast member and help guests from all around the world.
2) Skill 2: Leadership
To be honest I haven’t experienced a leadership position. Usually when I am placed in a group I like to make suggestions, but I never become the leader. Being a leader is a skill that I struggle with and want to improve on. I am enrolled in a Business Marketing class right now and in that class we are required to complete a group project. I am hoping to have more of a leadership
I have many experiences with leadership experiences due to my participation in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). In FBLA I had to take a leadership role in a group project that we compete with. While I was the leader I influence others to get the project done and work together as a team. I made sure that we were all on track and that our assign tasks were being completed. When there was an issue I would try to help them and figure out what was happening. I would bring peace when there was arguments.
Leadership comes with great responsibility, I personally have never experience being a leader. However, I believe that I don’t need to be a leader to be successful, instead I am always willing to work hard with other people and achieve any goal as a whole(team). Although, I consider myself as a great problem solver, and also very responsible according to the effort I put in every little thing that I do. In the past, I have helped the leaders organize and help them to achieve a goal. I gave my hundred percent in anything I do.
I have shown leadership many times while working in a group project or in an activity. I assign parts of the project to others and myself and share my ideas in the group. I try my very best to include everyone and try to incorporate their brilliant ideas in the project or activity as well. I make sure that everyone has a contribution
Leadership is being able to guide other students into being the best they can be. I am a leader who is always positive and cheering others on to achieve their goals. At my school, I have a position as the Vice President of Academics in National Honors Society. Since I have obtained this position, I encourage other students in this group to participate in service projects which is where one volunteers to help out the community in some aspect. These volunteering opportunities are good thing to do because it builds character and it is always fun helping others out. As a leader, I bring new ideas to the table on where we should help out in the community and anything that we could do in school that would fun and helpful. Along with participating in National Honors Society at my school, I am also involved in our Student Government Association. Although I do not have a leadership position in this club, I still engage in the activities that we do. For the past two years, I have gone to an annual meeting for leadership where multiple schools attend. At this meeting there are fun activities where you learn more about leadership and how to be a good leader. As a leader, these meetings help because it is always good to learn new
Leadership has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have always found myself taking on leadership roles, whether it be by volunteering or coordinating different projects for the benefit of my school or community. Taking on leadership positions has allowed me to develop skills in communication, delegation, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines. As a member of National Honor Society and an officer of Student Council, I am presented with various opportunities to show my leadership skills. For example, I have been in charge of planning multiple pep assemblies for my school. Helping coordinate blood and canned food drives, angel trees, as well as organize an abundance of fundraising events has created a sense of reliability
Math happens behind closed doors at Walt Disney world or should I say that math happens inside of a secret tunnel somewhere in Walt Disney world but we will not get in to that just yet. Where does the real magic happen, people might ask? To begin with some people might say the magic starts with the Disney characters, the rides or others might even say it is the parades that Disney world have at the end of the day from the fireworks, to the yummy cotton candy and the treats that they bring out for people to enjoy along with the characters coming out all at once to entertain everyone. Since the grand opening in 1971, Walt Disney World has continuously brought dreams to life. Walter Elias Disney and his brother Roy Oliver Disney cofounded Walt Disney World in hopes of encouraging imagination among all attendees. The park continues to grow and excite visitors from all over the world. Many people deem Walt Disney World as one of the best theme parks to exist. To make this evaluation one must consider the qualities successful theme parks possess. These include entertainment for all age groups, flexible options for health needs, advanced technology, and alluring themes. While Walt Disney World may be busy, it exhibits all the necessities of an excellent theme park.
My first trip to Disney World, now that, that was a memorable trip. That trip was one of the most magical and happiest memories of my life. It was back in 2008, I had just turned 6 years old a few months before we left to go there. It was summertime, and the weather was perfect. I remember being so bored on the way there because I am an only child so I didn’t have anyone to entertain me besides myself. My mom’s side of the family went on this trip with us, and at the time I was the only grandkid, and the only kid at all. So once we finally were almost there I remember passing the big ‘Welcome to Disney World” sign and being so excited I peed my pants--my mom was pretty mad, but my dad thought it was kinda funny so I didn’t get in too much trouble.
I am a leader when it comes to multiple things. In my choir, I’m the section leader for the baritones. In group projects, I often take charge of planning the project in order to ensure that it gets done in the best way possible. One of the most notable times I took a leadership position was when I volunteered with a group of my NHS peers at the Hot Chocolate Run in downtown Chicago. As more and more people began to finish the race, the lines where we were serving hot chocolate became really hectic and crowded. I decided to take leadership and usher people into different lines, as well as tell everyone to have their tickets ready when they got to the counter, even though I was not told to do that. Being a leader comes easily to myself, I have held various leadership positions throughout high school and middle school. I was honored to lead and be captain for every team I was a part of. I was captain of my middle school soccer team when I was younger, and captain of my premier soccer team as well. I was also the first lone captain ever named to my high school soccer team, which I held with great pride and honor. I find myself very comfortable leading groups because of the amount of experience I have with being a leader.
In class we defined leadership as using relationships to influence others. Before I came to the Academy I believed that a person could only lead their peers or subordinates. I did not believe that a subordinate could lead their superior. In high school I had many opportunities to develop my leadership with peers and subordinates. I was an officer of National Honor Society, and using that influence and my prior knowledge of NHS activities from the year before I was able to practice my leadership with my peers. I learned how to communicate in a manner to convince them to take action quickly, but not in a way that would seem overbearing or condescending. Furthermore, I was able to be a small group leader for a number of middle school retreats at my parish. In working with sixth grade boys I learned how to deal with insubordination and chaos, and with both of these groups of people I began to understand what was needed in a relationship between a leader and a follower. Our relationship had to be characterized by sincerity and respect. In both of these activities, those that I was leading could have easily stepped back and not paid attention to anything I was asking them to do. I had to convince them that I was absolutely dedicated to what I was trying to do, and that I had their best interest in mind. I do not have to think I am a leader to be one believe it and it will happen. I would like to lead others in the right way to be successful as their leader. Being focused and passionate in what you do it will take you along way. Collaborating with people I would be leading is a great way to understand their mindset of thinking and what they want in life. Always be professional while taking the spot of leading others.
When the subject of the Disney Enterprises is brought up, one often thinks of cartoons, musicals or other movies, amusement parks, and famous characters such as Mickey Mouse.
Being able to lead a group or someone is a very powerful action. Being a leader in general is very powerful. Leadership is an art that is painted, sculpted, and displayed in all sorts of ways. There are many different styles of leadership that correspond with different tasks. From transformational leadership to laissez-faire leadership, there are various styles throughout the continuum. A transformational leader is one of the best, more successful leadership style. When going down the continuum, the leadership styles only become less effective. Everyone also falls in distinctive categories when it comes to leading others. The leadership style that is displayed depends on the person leading and those who are being led along with the task.
Ever heard of this place called Disneyland? Yes, that huge phenomenon that every little child loves and even teenagers and adults love. Where there is these amazing rides and every Disney character you can think of is there! You probably know it as this amazing place that everyone loves and there is no wrong! Or maybe parents even know Disneyland from taking their child there so maybe they could get their energy taken out!
