When I ask others am i determined they think so because I put my all in what I do. When you are determined you let nothing come in the way. Considering I want to be successful “I have to pay the price to be the boss.” I do not have to think I am a leader to be one believe it and it will happen. I would like to lead others in the right way to be successful as their leader. Being focused and passionate in what you do it will take you along way. Collaborating with people I would be leading is a great way to understand their mindset of thinking and what they want in life. Leadership comes with great responsibility, I personally have never experience being a leader. However, I believe that I don’t need to be a leader to be successful, instead I am always willing to work hard with other people and achieve any goal as a whole(team). Although, I consider myself as a great problem solver, and also very responsible according to the effort I put in every little thing that I do. In the past, I have helped the leaders organize and help them to achieve a goal. I gave my hundred percent in anything I do.
A good leader shows others the proper way to act in everyday life. Good leaders help others with their challenges but they also acknowledge that they themselves have challenges in everyday life. A good leader is there to support and aid anyone at anytime. Even if that means getting up early to help before a long day or staying after a hard day and provide guidance those who need it a true leader will do it. Leaders put in the extra work to pick up the slack within the group if it is necessary. Leaders change groups into families. You can not be a leader over others if you first can not lead yourself in the proper way. The only thing different from leading yourself over leading others is that the actions you make while leading yourself only affect you, when you lead others, your actions affect you and others. The person has to be able to take responsibility over their own actions, respect themselves and show, do the work that is necessary and cooperate with
Being a leader is more than simply holding a leadership position or having the ability to lead. Everyone is capable of being a leader, but not everyone exercises his or her leadership abilities. Each person’s idea of leadership is different. My idea of leadership has developed over time, and being a member of the President’s Leadership Class has helped me develop my philosophy of leadership further than what it was two months ago. My personal philosophy of leadership is the ability to effect change through leading by example, taking initiative, and encouraging others.
To begin, I exhibit qualities of a great leader. Firstly, at my Saturday morning bowling league, I am positioned as the anchor, which means I am expected to lead my team to victory.. Secondly, I lead by being a good example to my peers, and I am a positive role model. Lastly, when my friends have problems they come to me and I lead them to a positive solution. This is being a good leader.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
As I was growing up, I naturally looked for ways to help my community. It was an concept that I was extremely fond and passionate about at an early age. Through this, leadership came easily and almost inherently. When high school came I emerged myself within the wide variety of activities. It was just an effortless tendency. I loved being involved, therefore I got myself involved. As a freshmen, I was at the bottom and I watched in amazement of how the upperclassmen led with such confidence and drive. I aspired to be like them one day. With this large desire to make my mark in my small community, I naturally took on leadership roles because I wanted to make an impact, a lasting impact. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others
Trees do not start off touching the stars. First, their roots dig deep into the earth and grasp onto any nutrients created by the trees that fell before them. They have to dig deep, to grow tall. As a product of those who came before me, I have to do the same. I want to be a Supreme Court Justice. I look up to those like Thurgood Marshall and Katherine Johnson, who paved the way for other minorities in their field. To date, there hasn't been an African-American female in that honorable black robe...I plan on being that female. There hasn't been a better time than this to show the world that my branches won't falter in the wind, and that my leaves won't fall at the first sight of snow. I need to be the change that I want to see in the world.
In response to your article “Why I’d rather be called A Black American than An African American”, you explain why you identify yourself as Black American and the reasons behind that decision such as your personal experiences and your trip to Kenya. Throughout your life, you were asked “Where are you from?” and near the end of your article you responded with “Where I’m from is America, who I am is a black American”.
Life as an African American is one marked with struggle and perseverance, which has created a unique community that, is striving to create a brighter future. In determining the future for African Americans one must explore the past and present of the body and self, the community, and the world through the economic, biologic, and psychological lenses.
First and foremost, I am extremely passionate about the work I do - whether it be through community service, cheerleading, or another activity. Whenever I engage in an activity I always give it one hundred and ten percent, going above and beyond the expectations. In 2011, Maya Angelou, a leader that I highly respect, stated that her mission in life “is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” I truly value these words and the truth they portray. In leadership, I work my hardest to live by these principles because of my genuine care for others and the activities in which I participate. Others should be led to follow my lead because of my passion.
who can lead ? Well, the great thing about being a leader is anyone can do it. short, tall, black, white, if you have correct morals, you can lead. From MLK to Harvey Milk; they all possessed a trait that set them aside from the rest: the ability to lead. Webster’s states to lead is to be someone's reason; someone’s motive. How great would it be to be able to walk around and know you are someone’s reason? reason to smile a little wider, laugh a little harder, and breathe a little more free. You could be someone’s reason to graduate high school- the first in their family. You could be the reason someone donates a thousand dollars to a charity; or you could be someone’s reason to try for at least one more day……Whose reason do you want to be today? and what are you going to do to accomplish that? The option is always yours.
My idea of leadership is being able to inspire others, motivate, set a vision, communicate, respect others, and of course, lead by example. A leader must have an honest understanding of who they are, what they know, and what they are capable of. To be a successful leader, you have to be able to convince your followers, not just yourself or your superiors, that you are worthy of being followed. In my opinion, this can build confidence in their followers to have faith in you, in order to be able to lead. I strongly believe that good leaders are made rather, and not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders are developed through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and
Leadership is something that we are all born with because we are all born. Therefore, who is a leader and who is not depends on who really wants to be a leader and who does not. Leadership is a skill and so it can be learned. As anything that is learned it demands practice and practice to be the best. It would not be something that will happen in a matter of a day. There are multiple elements that make a leader. Collaboration is a key element for successful teamwork. Therefore, a leader must always be in the look for ways to foster collaboration. Creating trust within the team, support face-to-face collaboration, transfer responsibilities when making decisions, and ultimately teach other how to be leaders. All of this is not done if it is not done from the bottom of your own heart.
In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.
Everyone can be a leader! Leadership is something I hope to enhance in the next few years. I believe that everyone has the capability of becoming a leader, in which can be in many different ways. While currently enrolled in Career Leadership Academy part 1, there are many aspects I’ve learned about what leadership is, how it is viewed, how to improve, and strengths I have as an individual. Through surveys and readings in Introduction to Leadership (Northouse, 2015), and using the Strengths finder assessment to figure my strengths as a person individually, I can learn how to focus on those areas when working with a team. In an effort to maximize and utilize my strong suits, it can very well help me become a better leader in the foreseen
