I was extremely lucky to be placed in a first-year seminar that had such a unique topic with great individuals to share the class with. Throughout the last few months, I have gained friendships and knowledge within the course, Plants and Human Affairs. Within this course, I have learned and extended my understandings on the interactions between humans and plants. Throughout the semester, the class has read a variety of books, all relating to plants and people interaction. We have also been exposed to films and projects that have helped further our understanding of the plant world. I feel that I overall have learned very important lessons during this class in a wide range of areas including my personal life, how to approach college and about a variety of plants. I liked this class because I became friends with people I would have never gotten the chance to know if we didn’t share this course together. I also enjoyed the class meetings and getting together with our mentors Cass and Taylor. During the mentor meetings, I was able to better understand the college life and also learned more about myself. In the community meetings, we would talk about our experiences and our lives in a way that brought all of the students and mentors together to form a bond that is unbreakable. The individuals in this class made it extremely easy to transition from High School to College. Another reason why I found this class to be so pleasant to be apart of was because I was able to get a better
Over the course, as I began to see all the material and work come together, I felt a sense of accomplishment and felt very proud of what I had done over the semester. This learning experience has definitely opened my eyes and opened new doors for me professionally already.
Being in this class gave me insight on the way that I learn. I’ve had my share of jobs along with schooling and various other learning experiences. Some good, some bad but I can honestly say that I never noticed the pattern on how I learn. Now I know I learn more by being more of a hands on person. Also utilizing my thinking and problem solving skills has helped with my growth. I also found it important to use my reflective observation too. Mostly combining different learning styles have helped me in life to understand the way I learn and the benefits that could come if I use my strengths to further my ambitions.
There are multiple reasons I am where I am today and why I’m going where I’m going. I have struggled in school ever since I can remember but without the people that I have had in my life I wouldn’t where I am today. But as I will talk about the teacher have played a huge role in the reason I am able to be where I am today.
I liked everything about this course. The seminars, study plans, and the weekly discussions help
From day one, I noticed the relative ease of the course. The two friendly instructors welcomed the entire class, and they presented the material in a simple and comprehensible manner. My seven classmates and I bonded immediately. I recall
When taking this class, I got to learn how to think critically, ask the right questions and formulate my thoughts into coherent paragraphs. The presentations gave me a lot of information; the assignments helped me remember and better process what I learned. And finally, the discussions gave me the opportunity to express my ideas, as well as an insight into what my classmates
I can say that I really like the structure of the class, and it was very interesting. Meaning that I didn’t see anything that I don’t like from the class exercises, readings, discussions and assignments.
Since this is my first year at Pasadena City College and my first online class it is every interesting the types of questions that we had to responds to during the course. The reason that it appeals to me is that I get to reread about other peoples point of view and find out different many for questions. From the response I learn new ways of looking at question and new way to apply myself when answer then as well. There is room for improvement because every single discussion I only answer on Sunday when I initially have to answer them on Thursdays so i can still improve on that aspect. This was a great opportunity because I got the chance to speak to new people and maybe I was able to struck a new friendship with someone which was all worth
I would have to say that the biggest takeaway from this class, was how I learned how to improve my time management. I have to admit that I'm still not the best at handling time, but I'm better then then when I started this class. This class has also helped me not just in the classroom, but in the workforce also. I
My favorite part of the course was probably the freedom to express ourselves that we had while in the class. I never felt like I could not speak my mind which was a blessing. Even if I did not agree
At first I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this class at all, but it’s actually grown on me. Outside of this class, I don’t think I would be friends with anyone, but inside I actually appreciate them and seeing how they
The class has helped me develop self- discipline, respect for authority, helped me strengthen my character, showed me that Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) and helped me to know HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT. Learning these things was amazing and I’m still learning new stuff every day! Let me give you an example of HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT.
Since being in this class, I can honestly say that I’ve learned a lot about myself as a person. Starting with journals, I’ve learned that 300 words is possible to do and it is not as hard as it sounds. Also, I learned that it is absolutely okay to not be perfect because nobody in this world
Over the course of the semester, there has been numerous amount of areas where I believe I have improved in comparison to high school. What has helped me in my writing is the writing class and the in-class writing workshop. The writing class that is located in the Kremen education building has helped me with my writing greatly because in the writing center the person in charge teach us lenses and we apply those lenses to the writing, draft, or reading that someone brings in. The in-class writing workshop has helped me because other students get to read my writing. This is helpful because I get feedback from many students and they let me know what needs to be fixed. A new tool I have been using is They Say I Say. The book is very helpful because of the information and examples it provides such as the templates. I have been applying the templates into my essays and I have seen a significant difference.
Since the beginning of the semester, my writing has changed and evolved to accommodate and sustain longer essays. With longer essays, there is more room for in-depth analysis. Further analyzing a topic has led me to findings that I did not know existed. As I continue to write, I uncover addition and superior methods to approach my writing to the benefit of me and therefore, my audience. Throughout the semester, I have incorporated techniques to further my narrative throughout my writing.
