When a knight is visualized, the first attribute that comes to mind is the shining armor. It’s strong, flashy, and apparent when seen, much like most of anyone’s strengths. What isn’t apparent, is the scars received over the years from weapons used against them that have penetrated their strong armor and slashed through their weak flesh. When training to become better one must identify their strengths, their armor, and most importantly their weaknesses. Only through a conscious effort will one turn weaknesses into strengths. My initiative, ability to adapt to patient needs, and communication with both staff and patients, have become my strengths over these past three weeks. On the other hand, my ability to submit clinical paperwork to instructors, long exam times and marker placement has been identified as my short comings.
To begin with, throughout the entirety of my life, my greatest strength has been my initiative. It is hard for me to wait around or be told to do something. I have always been more of the “tell me what I need to accomplish and the next time we see each other it should already be done” type of person. In the clinical atmosphere this has been recognized by my clinical instructors and technologists. On the very first day, the technologist, Archie, sat me down and told me what he expects out of me as a student. He gave me task like stocking linen to not sitting around and waiting to be asked to do or accompany someone on an exam. I have made it a point to
I feel as though my strengths greatly impact on the support I can provide in the year 4 class I work in every Thursday morning in a positive way. This encourages the children and the child I work one to one with (who is awaiting a diagnosis of ADHD) in this class to approach their work positively and be positive themselves. I believe I have developed a professional working relationship with the year 4 class teacher, which in affect has enabled us to have good communication skills.
For instance the strength of being restorative has shown me that I need to work on not trying to control every situation and solve every problem someone has. I need to let them figure out how to solve their problems and just be a sounding board for them when they need it. Being a mom it is hard to not just jump in every time my boys face a difficult situation and just solve it for them. They are young men now and I realize that I need to take a back seat and let them figure out where their life’s road will take them and to be there to listen and help as they ask me. Hard, yes, but a necessity. By doing the assessment and finding out what my top three strengths are I can use them to in the best way possible to achieve the goals I have for my life both personally and professionally. I realize that being deliberative, my belief system and being restorative are my strengths and not weaknesses and I can now capitalize on those strengths at work and
Each of us possess personal characteristic strengths that makes each of us unique. As individuals these strengths allow us to add value to all of our relationships both personally and professionally. For many of us, we can recognize the characteristics and how they add value to lives, unfortunately though many of us will struggle voicing these strengths openly during job interviews, performance evaluations, or team meetings. One of the first challenges is to understand that we are all lifelong learners and it is through these experiences that we develop these strengths which allows us to become an essential part of a relationship whether it is a personal or professional relationship. As within the realm of a Human Resource Professional the ability to recognize these strengths in people we must also recognize them within ourselves so that we may leverage those skills to advocate for both the employee and the organization. Throughout my life, my strengths have tended to gain more clarity and centered on my profession because form many of the majority of our time is spent there. Some of my personal characteristics that will bring value and strength to any organization are: organization, communication, the ability to be discrete and ethical, conflict management/problem solving and change management. As in many organization HR management requires a very orderly approach. Throughout my
The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills. As a collegiate writer, my strength lies in my clear understanding of the fundamentals of writing, while my primary weakness is proofreading my own work.
Upon completion of the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five greatest strengths were Achiever, Discipline, Responsibility, Relator, and Competition. However, I was skeptical about the initial results until I read what each strength entails. I found most of the information given to be accurate. According to the description of those strengths, I discovered that I use them daily without realizing it.
When I took my strengths test I was not necessarily shocked with what I received, more with what I did not receive. I thought for sure that I would have received positivity because people are always telling me how positive I am. Through learning about my strengths I have come to realize that all five of my strengths together may be the cause of my positive attitude, and all five of my strengths working together constantly are what people see. My strengths are restorative, communication, input, strategic, and achiever.
• Positivity: Positivity is for someone who is upbeat and positive, which tends to rub off on others.
In doing this SWOT paper I realized just how much I put others before myself. As I thought about what to put in each category I noticed all of my ideas were questioning what I do for others. This paper made me realize how important it is to take time for myself and tend to my own needs as well. Without helping myself I cannot effectively help others. I noticed it was easier for me to come up with my weaknesses over my strengths. I think that may be because its important to me to see my weaknesses over my strengths so I keep my mindset on always trying to improve. But there is a downfall to that mindset which is always worrying if I'm good enough. Having that worry has a lot to do with my diagnosed depression and anxiety. I have several ideas
A writer is someone who communicates ideas through various styles and techniques. Also, a writer speaks on behalf of their beliefs as an individual. Although writers may have similar thoughts, each person has a distinctive writing style, which can attract different audiences. Some may strive in particular areas of writing that others may lack in. As a developing writer, my strengths involve focusing on the topic given and having a strong vocabulary, while my weaknesses include not giving enough detail or being satisfied with my work, therefore I hope to improve my writing style and habits with the help of an encouraging teacher.
I am self motivated, determined, hard working with an ability to succeed. Coupled with enthusiasm and positive attitude, I want to prepare myself for social and academic challenges of medicine. I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
It is vital when looking for a new job or career that you know what skills and qualities you have. Knowing what you can or cannot do will alter what employers and positions there are for you. Throughout my higher education at Full Sail University, I have been able to overcome weaknesses that I have and raised other strengths beyond what I thought I could. Matching what you are good at and not so good at can help shape what your life path will be. Looking deeper into my personal capabilities, I have discovered three strengths and three weaknesses that I have and I’m working on eliminating or improving. If you are not good at something, improving even slightly can have a nice positive impact on your overall quality of
Over the course, I have learned that all people are unique and have their own personal traits and qualities. One person does not just simply fall into one category, but various categories. What is beautiful about all of us is that we all have diverse personalities, traits and qualities. I have learned that we should be proud of and embrace these unique qualities of ours.
My greatest strength as a student is my perseverance. No matter the difficulty of an assignment, I choose to give it my all until the end. For example, a challenge I have faced several times as a student is working with uncooperative peers. With such a difficulty, I choose to stay calm and compromise ideas with others to solve the problems. Nevertheless, if the problem is not resolved I will continue to work on the assignment until it is complete with the my best work. I have noticed that I am not discouraged by such problems, but instead use these complications as learning points in my educational experience. However, considering my strength I have a promising weakness to balance out my work habit; I am a
