Most people think that baseball is harder than softball, but studies have shown otherwise. Throughout my life, people have always told me that baseball is more difficult than softball, and of course I believed them, until I did some research. Now, I’m not saying that softball is harder because Jennie Finch(softball player) struck out Albert Pujols(MLB player), or whatever. Baseball is a very difficult sport, don’t get me wrong, but softball is all about speed (Kenteck).

Though the practices performed within softball literacy do not immediately seem as if they should be considered a literacy practice, according to two of the six propositions about the nature of literacy, it is. Not only does it involve the physical performance from a play, but also includes formal writings, new rules and regulations, and offer different rules in different countries. For me, softball was something that has made me who I am today. Whether it be the welcoming community or the constant push to make myself better at the game.. Softball literacy is also filled with artifacts that make us a community within our team and a community with other softball players.

Everyone has watched softball, most likely baseball as well. Which do you prefer? How do you know that one is best? Well softball, of course, is the better choice. While watching both sports, you see them hitting, catching, and throwing a ball. Softball is more appealing. The reason for that is softball is a more difficult sport.

Softball is a growing sport for girls within the United States. Whether you are an 8-year-old girl, to a senior in college softball, it’s a sport that many are attached too. A new form of hitting came into play during the 2005 Women’s College Series. Slap hitting is a new form of hitting that changed the way the game of fast-pitch softball is being played. Slapping changed the way coaches and players think about how they are going to field a slap hitter. This form of hitting is becoming a major role within fast-pitch softball. When I got the opportunity to learn how to slap hit I was excited to gain this ability. With practice, patience and determination, I began to learn the hitting style that I use today.

Women in professional sports fits into the Sex and Power: Global Gender Inequality class because many female athletes have experienced the inequalities in a professional sports setting. Female athletes are being put down by gender inequalities, causing less females participating in athletic programs. Women athletes are being paid less than their male counterparts. Along with being paid less, female and males are receiving unequal benefits in the form of scholarship, media coverage, transportation, and stadium conditions. The professional sport’s world is filled with the obsession of body image and sexuality. Through this obsession, female athletes have been abused from the people they trust the most. There is an increasing inequality in women’s professional sports in the form of pay, sexuality, and abuse.

Softball is a sport that is known throughout the United States and the world. Softball originated on Thanksgiving Day in Chicago in 1887. The game was actually said to have begun as an indoor game. Softball was started by a group of men who had gathered at a club to watch the Harvard vs. Yale football game. When the news came that Yale had defeated Harvard, 17-8, one Yale supporter, overcome with enthusiasm, picked up an old boxing glove and threw it at a nearby Harvard alumni, who promptly tried to hit it back with a stick. This gave George Hancock, a reporter for the Chicago Board of Trade, an idea. He suggested a game of indoor baseball. Naturally, Hancock's friends thought he was talking about playing a game outdoors, not indoors.

Can a youth baseball program really be considered a business? Just because the Vital Baseball organization does not turn a profit can the managing partners really market the brand to one day fully fund their future endeavors? To find these things out a SWOT and market analysis has been conducted on the organization and the brand as a whole to see what the future viability can actually be. A SWOT analysis is a determination of an organizations strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The SWOT analysis was conducted but other things were evaluated as well. Strategic planning in any organization is key to the future viability of the brand and the strategic future planning of the Vital Baseball organization was assessed. The course of the organization has been plotted to see where they will be in the next three years. Again a youth baseball organization may not be a for profit organization but to be viable for many years the organization must be managed smartly and in a manner that supports the goals of the entire organization.

Before we told our daughters that they could be anyone, or anything they wanted to be, we told them that they could only be what was acceptable for women to be, and that they could only do things that were considered "ladylike." It was at this time, when the nation was frenzied with the business of war, that the women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League decided that they could do and be whatever it was that they chose. These women broke free of the limitations that their family and society had set for them, and publicly broke into what had been an exclusively male sport up until that time.

Many compare the “friendly” game of women’s lacrosse to the brutal, physical sport of football, but that should not be the case. This is why women must have more protection when playing lacrosse. Checking, concussions, and helmets are all major reasons to supply this gear. Before one can deem women’s lacrosse as dangerous, they must understand the overall concept of the game.

Just hours after capturing its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament win in program history, five Centenary softball players were honored by the conference. In a vote by the SCAC coaches and announced at the Conference Softball Tournament Friday, April 22, five Ladies grabbed All-Conference honors.

Sports have always just come natural to me, but joining a new community was still terrifying to me. I had a decision to make in seventh grade, to stay in city league until high school or join accelerated softball. This decision was not a hard one at all. My friends and I got together and talked about joining accelerated softball.

I am sorry to say that, I can no longer abide to the position of head coach for sack of rice. After careful prayer and counseling from my family, I have decided Softball leadership is no longer beneficial to me. Rather, its causing me stress, my school work and other ministries suffer from it. Due to my schedule for the summer, I can not commit 100% of the time to the softball ministry, especially during the month of July. So, I must withdraw from the position of head coach.

A tradition or ritual that my softball team have is that before and after every softball game we played, every player holds ups they bats. The signifying behind it is that we are one team and everyone has each other backs. Other traditions are that before the first home game, a state playoff or country playoff the whole team has a pasta dinner at a senior house. Another one is on a Sunday both JV and Varsity plays and invites little kids to come and watch. Superstitions in softball are that if any player or coach step on any white line that outlines the field and marks foul territory is bad luck for you and your team. Every year, I get the same number which is 17 because I think it will bring me good luck every game. Also the
