There was much discussion concerning this situation and numerous theories on why Adam Goodes was booed. It could be because of Goodes’ celebratory Indigenous war dance, which he performed after marking and kicking a goal from 40m out. Immediately after the game people went to social media, accusing spectators of racism claiming they were booing Goodes because of his Indigenous culture. Others retaliated back trying to justify their actions stating they were booing Goodes because of his style of football. For example, one fan said, “I'm not booing him because he's black, I boo him because he stages for free kicks, and he's a sniper, who takes cheap shots". Yes, Adam Goodes plays and gets into trouble sometimes but it is all part of the sport, and with two Brownlow Medals does he really have such terrible sportsmanship that he deserved to be

Sports such as footy and soccer have a special place in the national conscience, but following the recent event where a Port Adelaide fan was photographed wearing a Nazi swastika with his Power jersey, it is clear to be said that more work is required in order to stop racism in all sporting events by the Australian Government. This isn’t the first time where this kind of incident has happened though. Non-white footballers face racial abuse regularly on the pitch. Surely you big footy fans still remember the incident in 2013, where aboriginal footballer Adam Goodes was called an ape by a 13 year old girl as he went near the stands in a match against Collingwood. These kind of people do not deserve to be called a footy fan.

Lee Papageorge was one of the few that could deservedly be called a stand up guy. He was one of the few adored by everyone that knew him. It’s heartbreaking to have lost someone with so much kindness and goodwill. He never varied in his benevolence, and Westport is all the better for it. I was one of the fortunate ones on the receiving end of Lee’s gentle compassion early in my life, and I am the better for it. My heart goes out to Mary Jo, Ali, and Melissa.

The Indigenous inhabitants of Australia are constantly looked down upon by many in our national community, regarding their culture and equality. The continuing issue of degrading a national Indigenous sportsman and recipient of the Australian of the Year, Adam Goodes, an icon of Australia’s cultural identity. The racial comments and sporadic booing towards the performance of his Indigenous ‘war dance’ during the AFL Indigenous round, was ignited by fans who felt the ritual was confronting and aggressive.
There is very little evidence to support the historical existence of the man known to his mother and father as Yeshua Ben Yosef. In fact, there is no first century secular evidence whatsoever to support the fact that he was ever born, or even any record of his parents living in . This is strange of a man who allegedly influenced the lives of so many and continues to do so still. So if this man never existed, why is it that many believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that he was indeed a true man of historical significance and thereto fore, dedicate their lives to his Teachings and practices?
I couldn’t be prouder of the effort the NSW VB Blues displayed in this year’s series and I can’t wait to do it all again next year. It was another incredible series that will be forever etched into Origin folklore. It’s still as exciting for me as a coach than it was as a player. It’s extremely rewarding to watch the team grow in front of your very eyes.
